its probably a noob question, but here goes...
FSB Strap To North Bridge(Mhz) 333... is responsible for what?
and DRAM Frequency is this the setting for the strap that the board uses?
maybe others can help me get a grsp of things...

choose 266 strap as it is a fair bit faster than 333 :)
and as i said already ONLY increase voltage if required for stability
now a 3.4GHz Quad is a monster rig so i would try and have all voltages to their minimum values or closest to that
PLL does affect FSB but only when you start reaching limits....and not always 100% but it also affects the stress on the CPU as you've seen with higher temps....but such temp change is more than i thought  heheh
try reducing vcore a little too...........you should be able to shave some more off :D
i tried other multis and was able to boot to 490 x 6 but far from stable but can do spi 1m at 480 x 8... still looking... thanks guys. needed that.
Im not trying to be rude by what is the purpose of a post showing 500 fsb?
to show the power of overclock of this excellent motherboard And because I was having difficulties in obtaining the fsb of 500mhz.
My point is that 500 fsb is the norm and these boards have gone above 600fsb.
No big deal I was just curious if I was missing something ;)
At last someone with the same problem as me, I had just made a seperate thread about it here
Its definatly not a temp problem, its only in the late 40's before my chip switch back to x6 multi from x9 when priming. Its some problem with this 0603 bios and G0 quads.
Not sure what to do as I cant see another bios coming out any time soon :( I would have thought more people would have this problem though.
That's a weird problem lads, I always leave EIST off as I overclock and fold always when my PC is on and I was told to always turn off EIST when overclocking
Also I wouldn't trust CPU-Z for a correct value of CPU voltage, better go Everest or even Asus Probe though best thing still is a digitam multi meter....
i gotta tell ya, those asus boards are just straight up hideous in color
Has anyone got a G0 stepping to work with a bios pre 0603 ?
Cut somebody tell me which bios shows allso minus degrees ? I have 0603 but it shows only 10 degree if i test it with my cascade ?! it must be around -80 to -90 degree !!

anyone have a problem getting this board to push 4GB of mem over 1000Mhz?
It becomes very unstable over 1000Mhz with 4 x 1GB PC2-9600 modules...i did not have this problem with my 965 Commando.
No problems here, running 4GB of Ballistix 6400 @ 1142 @ 5-5-5-15 with 2.2V.
On my 965 Commando, I could run 4Gb at 5-4-4-12...
On this P35 P5k, i have to use 5-5-5-12....
Anybody knows if there are compatibility problems with Corsair CM2X1024-8500C5D rams?
If i install these rams the system doesn't boot.
Thanks!
I do not know about Corsair, but I cannot get these f*cking Patriot 9600 modules stable on this board over 1000Mhz! I am trying everything and I cannot get my board stable.
There has to be a compatibility problem with my RAM and this board.
This P5K DLX is the WORST board I have ever owned and I regret buying this POS.
Chances are, there probably is if you are having trouble.
no prob, I use them set to 1150Mhz 2.15-2.2v on this board without any issue.
At least my Dominator version..., I think your corsair modules are incuded in this list ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5K%20Deluxe/P5K_Deluxe_WiFi-AP_QVL.pdf

beta 0803 bios is ok
beta 0805 bios can not disabled C1E
here is bios 0803
hmm can not opload here is to big, sorry:(
Hey everyone. Just picked up a P5K to go with a new Wolfdale (e8400). Just wanted everyone to know that it wouldn't post with the e8400 until I upgraded the bios to version 0805. Fortunately I still had an e6600 lying around which would post on the P5K.
I'm not 100% sure which bios it came with. Guessing it was 0603. It took me a good two hours of messing around, plugging and unplugging stuff and generally cursing at a blank screen before finally dropping in the old proc. I was pretty upset. The box clearly states support for 45nm processors but makes no mention of perhaps needing a bios update for it.
So, for those of you trying out the new Wolfdale procs remember to upgrade your bios before you drop in the new chip. Maybe you can save yourself a few hours of beating your head against the wall (I've done that for you).
version 0902 is up
the best bios for p5k and e8400 is??:)
WoW, impressed with all that info.... Nice Job
so the best bios for p5k and e8400 is??
please......
Your choices are limited with the e8400 processor. 0803 is beta and 0902 is the newer, non-beta bios. Go with 0902. It's working fine for me.
0902 working ok for me to :)
Bios 0902
CPU E8400
can't adjust the CPU mulipler in bios - I'm I missing something
a low overclock to test fsb on bios 0803,next i test 0902:) watercooling
Whats the best BIOS for P5K Pro?
2008/03/05 update
Quote:
BIOS update file for P5K (Version 1005)
Enhance compatibility with certain memory module.
I'm sticking with 0902. It's been very stable since I installed it. Not a single OS or application crash in the five weeks I've been running it.
ok had a 8800gt and just upgraded to the 3870x2
and 3Dmark03 gone from 48K to 65K
but 3Dmark06 gone from 13K to 10K - yes its decreased
on bios 1005 (cant downgrade unless I fit the floppy back in)
otherwise np
using driver 8.3 +Cat
no other driver issues
any thoughts
Running bios 0809 on P5k-Deluxe, i tried others since 0311 but always ended up going back to 0311 (overclocking issues) however 0809 work flawlessly and am able to overclock just as high and stable as i was on 0311.
Hi everybody. I have a problem. I bought yesterday a new E8200 wolfdale cpu and put it into my p5k vanilla. I increased the fsb to 500mhz and it seemed to be stable. but it is not. a tried different bioses 1005-0902, lots of different settings but none of them worked. I only reached 440fsb because above that the board is really unstable. no matter if the vnb is 1.25v or 1.55v it always freezes. before this cpu the board did 530fsb stable with only 1.25v. the cpu is stable at 4ghz 1.352v but if I load the board it freezes:down: If you have an idea what I should do to make the board stable at fsb500 please tell me. Thanks.:)
new bios out, wont download at moment though

Version 1103 2008/07/28 update
Description P5K BIOS 1103
Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
Fix CPU frequency is incorrect after enabling and then disabling Ai-NOS function.
File Size 637.5 (KBytes)
I hosed my Maximus Formula (x38) the other day and had to buy the cheapest board I could find to get back up and it fell on the P5K SE. Damn cheap motherboard and tiny at that, but at least it works while I'm RMA'ing the Maximus Formula. However, it complains that the bios see the CPU as "unknown" and want me to upgrade to latest bios (which is 1104 at the moment) but their damn ftp's and download sites just doesn't work. I've gotten "Server is busy, please try again later" for the last 12 hours and the china link just times out. Out of all hardware manufacturers, ASUS have a seriously crappy download service with servers almost always broken or out of date. The FTP's I did enter didn't have the new BIOS, and the ASUS Update doesn't show a single bios from 2008. Bah!
Tried a download manager? Realtek is pretty poor sometimes.
I sorted it out in the end.
P5K BIOS 1201 is up on the Asus site.
1. Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
2. Fix the system sometimes takes about 30 seconds to get into the OS when many USB devices are plugged into the system.
