I enjoy this thread so much :up: Cold days of winter are upon us, so I'm gonna keep an eye on that, for "cool" updates :D
Unfortunately here in Crete (Greece), lowest temperatures we might see in winter is ~8*C, maybe a little lower ... :( But nevermind, I'm enjoying it ! :p: :D

Yeah but I was talking about the LOWEST temperatures ;) Average temperature during winter is ~12 - 15*C here in Crete ;)

I used to swim in winter too, but then got too busy with school and forgot all about that :(
Now that I'm in university though, I have plenty of free time, maybe it's a good time to start thinkin' about that again :D
P.S. I haven't eaten gyros since August 25th, I have been running on a diet since then ;) :D And it's not the most beneficial food for one's health, unfortunately I might say 'cause it's damn' tasty :D :(

Last year I was running on Mother Nature SUper Cooling..but this year it's 60F outside???
Well I'm not exactly on air cooling, however I am using outside air to cool so I thought it was pretty relevant!

the radiator fans are blowing the cold air into the case so it cools the whole computer down so I guess it is sub zero air cooling, just not air cooling on the CPU.
Dumped the HTPC outside tonight as a teaser, no benches yet just a quick snap to see what kind of passive temps I could get.
Problem is, the Blood Iron won't let my fan come on until it hits 25C (not even close! :p) and I can't locate a 3 pin to molex adapter right now. Maybe tomorrow night :D

Having problems with the hard drive freezing up, need to get a long SATA cable for nights like these :D I might pick up a handwarmer pack tomorrow to keep it toasty so I can play for more than 5 minutes before it turns to a brick :lol:

Best Pifast ran on Core4 (0-7) at 21*195.75 ~4111mhz @ around 10.189s, I'll go under 10 after I get a proper CPU cooler and have enough time to tweak out my crappy G.Skill 1333mhz CL9 sticks :rolleyes:
Temps: Real vcore was 1.35, enough for 4.1ghz pifast and 4ghz 3dmark's. Could do more with more voltage, but I'm waiting for proper cooling :)

3 mounth ago in italy, near milan i had some fun with p3 coppermine 650mhz, samsung (capable of 175mhz cas2 with +/- 6volt :rofl: ), fullmodded tusl2-c and delta 150cfm on the cpu.
ambient temperature around -2° (look at the snow on the tree).

Did some airaction with my 920 @1.458, was not really subzero:rolleyes:
But he's running really good, don'T test more under cold.... He don't love LN but ok:shakes:

Have you guys ran how long outside those computers? Has there been any stability issues due coldness, like in mobo/graphic/memory perhaps?
man you guys are so lucky... I live in Phoenix, Arizona and it's April and we've already reached 100+ degrees F'. I wish it was cold here so I could join you guys... The ambient temperature in my room is constantly hot, I wanna move to Sweden or Canada so bad... lol

im running a similiar set up (see sig)
try raising your cpu core voltage, or upping your northbridge voltage. i was running 1.7v into my northbridge that night!

You guys are really lucky....I'm in Singapore and its like 32-34 degress C here....even on water, its still hot as hell...
We (at least I'm) are not lucky. Be happy with your temps, I have to deal with -50*C (and lower!) right now with the wind chill.

Its 2F/-17c outside here, and inside my chillbox it 4-6F/-16c q9550 under load = 4-6c @ 3.74 @ 1.23v
did some midnight ocing with cool night air and some watercooling, lol i had to stop cos apparently some parts of my rads internal water canals froze and i had barely no water flow and had to stop the session :D

I ran into the same issue. I've been running a 'chill box' for a few years now and finally had to give up on using PC rads. Had 2 freeze solid and explode on separate occasions lol...Quote:

Here's a quick shot at load. I didn't load it for long. If I let it run for a while it will go up a few deg.
And yes this chip has 2 very stuck sensors. If I unplug the pump, - once it hits 25c or so all the sensors work again lol. The correct sensors/temps are @ 3c in this ss. The chip clocks well enough so meh. I just picked the chip up on newegg for $249, gonna run it till the i9 comes out.
Been running like this for many years with various setups and other than a few rad issues I've had no problems. Though I do have to keep the pump and a res outside the chilbox. The pump freezes up otherwise.
I also gave up on using a waterblock on the gpu, I go though a ton of graphic cards and buying new blocks got expensive. I usually just swap out the thermal paste on the gpu n vram and use a high cfm custom fan and semi mod the stock cooler. Gtx280 loads in crysis @ 36c-42c temp depending.

My friend and i did some overclokicking with some cold swedish winter air. It was around midnight and there was a snowstor outside. I think the outside temp was about -15 or so. ALOT of snow though.
What we did was mount a Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme on or testrig and then use tejp to mount 2 Schytche Kaze 3000 rpm (144CFM) on it. We placed the entire system need the back door witch has a cat door. We rigged the door open and the builded a "tunnel" of sort between the fan intake and the cat door. The fans sucked ALOT of cold air and snow trough the fans and into the room. We had a very wet floor after just 10min of running. Anyway, we had mounted a standard thermometer on the base of our Ultra 120. I think the temp was 5 degrees, while the rest of the room was about 19 degrees.
To bad our Celeron 430 did not clock as good as we had hoped :P. The CPU temp at 1.6V was about 20 degrees.

You could get a Hailea water chiller like the A500, it works real good.
