So is it as powerfull with the rev.C2 ?It looks pretty nice.
OK, good news. I removed the mod and tried again with a 10k VR instead of a 50k VR like another member advised me to do. The adjustments are way less sensitive and it works perfectly. I'm now at 475fsb 1:1 with 4-3-2-9 timings! I will keep going. This is just at 2.45v also.

From the Rebels Haven Mod:

But for this motherboard and this circuit, a 10K or 20K Variable Resistor is just about perfect and gives a slight boost when set to maximum resistance.
I was using this mod.

This is my mod, its easy to plug it or work with out-it. But I cant go higher than 500 fsb with my CPU 6300 628A  , maybe my CPU is fsb limited I will find out soon.
anybody know how Biostar's customer service is? because Asus's sucks and im thinking of switching.

What would you say about the layout?I would say this board is good but I don't like the fact that mosfet cooling isn't there.Anyways there seem to be some holes for it.It's nice to know you can add mosfet cooler without adhesive.
Is anyone else having a problem with the 4:5 divider? I can't get anything decent out of my ram. I can go higher with 1:1, and WAY higher with 2:3. Well, here are my results for 2:3 and D9 fat bodies. It's cas 4 also...doesn't display correctly at 2:3 ratio. Perfectly stable though...

Yes I notice strange behavior with rations other then 1:1, using Team Xtreem 6400, also my board with this CPU would not boot with 398-399 Mhz on fsb?!Quote:

What's everyone using for air cooling? I'm thinking about a TT BT.
Thanks
JWilson: Do you boot that 500mhz FSB 1:1, or do you have to use a lower fsb then clockgen it up in windows?
I'm going to be picking up a P965 board to use with 1GBx2 D9 Fatbody, and out of the P5B-E, DS3, and the Biostar, this seems like the one to get.
It boots at 500, but not every time. 3 out of maybe 10x it won't POST, but after pressing restart, it then boots every time. It may be my PSU... Also, it's only SuperPI stable. Never tried anything else as Prime has killed mem sticks for me in the past...
Ordered one of these, an E6300, and a Zalman ZM-NBF47 to cool the north bridge. Anyone have any tips for hit 500+ 1:1 FSB?
Thanks!
There is no hint, if u are lucky u will get CPU who has fsb wall above 500, if not there is no way u can go above it, except with subzero cooling. I suppose u have memory which is capable for 500+Quote:

4. I can do whatever I want up to 415... then nothing 416-419 works, then 420 works, then nothing higher works. I've raised every single voltage and nothing lets me go higher in bios... system either locks up posting or reboots right after posting with higher than 420, or 416-419 set. I am using the latest mod bios. Do I have to use clockgen to get higher or do you think I've reached some sort of chipset or cpu limit? (Ram is fatbody and does 4-3-3 @ 840 @ 2.1v, so it's not the problem.)
Ok figured all that out... Now:
965pt with 814 rh mod bios with e6400 with big typhoon with 2x1024 fatbody d9
@
4-3-3-9-a-a-a-a
Spread spectrum- D
Autodetect PCI- D
448, 1:1, All volts are default except vdimm @ 2.1v.
100% memtest stable
@ 450+
memtest errors at end of test 5, or crash, or lock at Post, or reboot at anytime between post and end of test 5.
Tried raising every voltage individually and combined... no gain.
Tried loosening timings... no gain.
Any suggestions?
OK, finally hooked up Vapo (stock, but up for Jin Mod next week). Looks like 480 is the best I can do with my E6600 (rev B1 step 5). I am certain that the CPU is the FSB wall, as RAM is DDR2-1000 and when run at lower multi on another board, it craps out about 435.
Best bench so far, 4325 (480, 1:1 4-4-4-15): Cinebench 1337, SuperPi 1M 11.969. Not stable. Stable (doing two clients of D2OL) ~4200.
Definitely an FSB wall on the CPU.
EDIT: What Clockgen you guys using for the 965PT?  What is the clock generator on these boards?
When you use Clk-Gen with this board, select ICS 9PLRS509 for the clock generator..
That's the one I tried, pursuant to this thread, but it crashed every time at any speed. Maybe this only works for the Deluxe?

Someone posted a while back that you should flash the 0803 deluxe bios to avoid instability because you can't turn off C1E with the PT bios. Well, even the deluxe bios doesn't help me. After a few reboots and a few days of use C1E gets turned on in Win XP (CPU thermal control and C1E have always been disabled in bios), meaning I have to drop almost to default clocks to get XP to be stable. This only happens when XP is installed as dual core (requiring APIC to be enabled). The only way to fix this is to do a repair install but like above, C1E makes a return after some time.
Is there something I'm not doing right? Keeping this E6400 at 2,4 GHz unless I want to do a repair install once a week is embarrassing. :slapass:
About clockgen, use 1.0.5.0 and ICS 9PLRS509. Worked for me with the default 914 bios.
Edit: I tested it again, and now C1E stays off as it should be. It seems that on some reboots it gets turned on, and I notice it when before logon screen a reboot happens at my normal overclocking settings.
Well, strapped a fan on northy... kept it cool to the touch and tried all steps of North and mch volts up to maximum (+.4) No improvement... still can't take ram (fatbody d9) above 455 1:1 OR 2:3. 455 @ 1.8v but no 460 @ 2.2v
So It's not cpu or ram I figure. Gotta be a board issue. Any suggestions?
i was stuck at kinda same fsb. allthough cpu got higher on another board i hit this wall with another cpu.
now i stuck at 490 again with two different cpu's. i get a freeze while running 1M at 495 mhz with both of them. is that coinscidence
i just cant believe boards is at its end :)
Anyone know a better setting than auto for the last four timings, using fatbody D9 @ 4-3-3-9-?-?-?-? for 450-500mhz?
Start by checking them with Memset, set the BIOS like Memset displays, and go higher and lower on each one while trying for higher FSB...
this could get a little ot but i only noticed following with the biostar board.
when i stress large in-place fft's with dual prime above 400 mhz i get a crash (no reboot/freeze, real crash). now i tried orthos and it runs flawless.
core temps get a bit warmer with prime95 but could that be the reason ? now,
is orthos rather to weak for strees testing or prime too strong ?
another thing is when im blend testing with prime i get an error after a few minutes while orthos keeps testing.
OK, after lots of fiddling, it seems that 487x9 is the absolute limit on stock Vapo, so long as I can't get Clockgen to work (must boot into Windows at this speed). Just short of 4400. :( 488 won't post or even give me the two amber lights (damn amber lights! :upset: :cussing: ).
Vcore is maxed to 1.8 set in bios, 1.7 actual. I'm sure I could go higher with a little more volts.

Hi everyone! I also own this PT board, but I am having lots of problems..So, the board is 965PT with Deluxe RebelsHaven Bios Mod and VDimm mod, GoodRam Pro 2x512 and E6300 that works at 500 with no problem at all.
Well, I just figured out, why my system freezes at POST at 450FSB. Because of tRP set to 4. When I have 4-4-4-12, this happened. Then I tried all the combinations, and when I set to 4-4-5-12, it POST successfully.
BUT, there is another problem now. My system is freezing all the time now. I have set it back to 4-4-4-12, 5-5-5-15, and it just doesnt care. I dont know what the problem is. I can be doing nothing, and it would freeze in about 10min.
I also noticed, that if I set 4-4-4-12, then I turn off, power on again to reset bios (because the system wont POST), change the FSB back to 450, then it works. BUT if I set to 4-4-5-12, or 5-5-5-15 at 450 and shut down, then power on, the system WILL boot(because of tRP different than 4) to XP and u can actually do sth, but it will freeze as mentioned before edit. So thats my problem I guess.
Well I can get up to 465 with cas 5... I doubt my cpu can run above that... but 450-458 @ cas 4 is the limit, regardless of vdimm. Anyone got any ideas?
Figured it out. :P Had OV jumper on... which makes board feed 2.05-2.1vdimm no matter what bios is set to.
C2 chipset? Because I think those PTs with C2 are a not as good as the C1..Do your system post from power off with 4-4-4-12 at 450 or more?
first day with my new CPU 629B, cooling TT BTvx
Biostar 965PT, last off. bios

I also have a 629B. What settings did you use to acheive that OC? Northy voltage and cooling? CPU voltage? Memory and voltage?Quote:

Max voltages for sb&vmch, CPU 1.7V, memory up to 3.05, but if u release timings u will not need high vdimmQuote:

This is my second CPU 6300, first hit fsbwall on ~510 also, if u have micron based ram, limit is 99% CPU.Quote:

Also, if I raise the chipset voltage, it works worse than with default (1.25V). I can pass POST with 485 and 5-5-5-15 with 1.35 (1.47V real), but when it comes to xp booting, it cause ntoskrnl.exe error..F*****-up.

Yes, I have that BIOS. And I have tried all of them available, including Albatron.
Anyway, can someone explain me this problem; If I turn on my PC with FSB at 266, RAM 1:1@4-4-4-12 and then I go to BIOS, change the FSB to 450, then everything is OK. Orthos stable, 3DMark loop stable, SuperPi 32M..BUT, if I turn it off at that FSB (450), and then turn it on again, it will freeze in windows in about 5mins with doing sth or not doing anything. It is just unstable totally. So, what could that be? I guess sth got changed after power off.
and btw, can someone with GoodRam Pro tell me his timings with tWT, tWTR, tRRD and tRTP?
what's ur PSU anyway??
it could be just a matter of electricity
another question can it be a totally stable at ....let say it 400 maybe?
if it so..then maybe it's ur cpu..Intel sometimes act weird like this :D
Antec 480W, 2x18A 12V. Yes I think it is stable, but havent test it that hard yet. But, if the CPU is totally stable at 450 when setting FSB to 450 after booting at 266, then I think there is nothing wrong with the CPU. And as I said before, this CPU has been running for couple of months at 510 on P5B DX. So I guess this is a mobo/ram/PSU problem.
Anyone here?
Well, it is NOT stable at 420, it locks up just the same as at 450. Now I am running at 400. So, what could be the problem?:)
You need better memory. The Biostar does not like your memory....
OK then!:) Will try some other ram. Any suggestions?
hello everybody, im gettin a 965pt for christmas and i was gonna pick up some geil ram and wanted to know if the board would play nice with the ram. im not sure wut ics r on the ram so i would like to find that out if possible. heres a link to the ram check it out tell me wut ya think. im doin this low budget steppin up to pcie and ddr2 with lil money. i will upgrade more in summer. cheers

GeIL was tested on Anandtech, and it has done a great job. The Ultra, not the Value one.
btw, anyone here with GoodRam Pro on this mobo?
Did anyone try new BIOS?
Deluxe? Only some GX2 support improved I think.
just ordered one of these boards(the pt version) will have it goin this weekend with an e6300, super talent 512mb cl5, biostar 7300gs and will be flashing it to the mod bios right away. im goin for high fsb and hoping to hit well over 500fsb:) . i will post results as soon as i get them as long as everything works fine.

anyways i strugle to get ram past 440 cl 4-5-4 and it wont even do stock 4-4-4 @ 800 lol. anyways im sick of playing ram games so i just change my e6300cpu for e6600 so 440 ram makes cpu 3960 i think i have plenty of headroom now lololol:D
This board seems to have issues. There's an fsb wall somewhere between 440 and 450 with my D9 Fatbody 1:1, however I can get my memory running 500+ with a divider fine. My cpu isn't limiting me I dont think, because I can do 440 FSB at less than 1.4 volts no problems.
Can someone running at 500 or 500+ post a screenshot of their memset settings? Thanks!
Change CAS 5 in BIOS, and use MemSet or similar application to set it back to CAS 4 in Windows if its needed. This should get you rid of it.Quote:

Set CPU Feature options to disable.
So, which is the most compatible/overclockable ram for that mobo?
any d9 chipset.
other chipset is not recomended
it didnt help :( ive tried every bios from the stock to stilts.still this 6x multi.the only way i can change it is with crystal cpuid.any other options i may need to disable/enable?im at a total stand still.:brick:Quote:

ive tried everthing from the stock pt bios to the modded deluxe bios' that were posted at xs.i cant even run this thing at stock speeds with the 6x multi.it defaults to 1600mhz.ive tried all 3 mem dividers.the retarded thing is in the bios post screen it shows the 9x but in windows it drops to 6!im gonna send this thing back if i dont find the answer soon.that p5wdh in the openbox section of the egg is starting to look pretty damn good.this is the 3rd motherboard in 3 months thats gone crazy.im going nuts man!
nope ive only got the 6600
thx for the links.ive got those two and 3 others as well lol.i guess ill work my way back thru them and see what happens.
im really wondering if this mb isnt borked.it takes like 2 full minutes to load windows and like i said b4 it reboots after i change even the simplest bios option.like it would if you oced the fsb too far.even when i disabled the cpu options it reboots!grrrr
the other thing is my voltage...in cpuz its at .988-1.088 wtf???i can adjust it with crystal cpuid but no matter what i set it to in the bios it goes back down again.
sigh
i got it lol.blindows was corrupt.reinstalled and everything is fine now. :)
Cool!:D
Sorry I havent taken the time to prune through this whole thread but I'm fed up with my damn AW9D-MAX and looking for a new board. Will this board actually pull 500+fsb out of the box? If so then I think i've found myself my next board... (tired of waiting around for the RD600 and the IN9 32X-MAX)...
It can, but the GA-965P-S3 is better and has CPU multiplier control.
Is it possible to flash the PT board with the Deluxe bios?
Thanks
yes it works.
Albatron PXP965 also works with /F switch.....
Well I have D9 chips, and it doesnt work as it should:confused:Quote:

Hi All,
I'm currently overclocking my 965PT MB. Default Bios.
My system is a D2D 6600 CPU running 1:1 on 300FSB.
All seem ok.All mobo setting at default for overclocking.
I can run PI 32MB no problem, aswell Prime95 on both CPU cores.
Temp when running Prime95 on both CPU cores 57 Deg. Celius.
When running Prime95 on single Core 46 Deg. Celsius.
I have been running Prime on both cores for 3.5 hours no problems.
Running Prime95 on single core for 7.5 hours no problems.
Running memtest86+ for 8 hours no problems.
The actual problem I have when running 3DMark05.
Some times it benches ok the next time not.
I'm using Windows XP64.
Any help would be welcome.
Is your gfx card overclocked too much?
Hi Gas
My XFX 7800GTX 256MB is not overclocked.
I'm running 3DMark05 version 1.0.0, I see their is a later version available.
I have seen in some forums that there are some issues with XP64.
I'm using Nvidia driver "93.71_forceware_winxp64_english_whql".
I also did run into the 6x multi problem. When I enable at bios level and XP64 level. At time it does not want to kick in at 9x multi. I then have to reboot XP64.
Then it is ok again. It could be MB related or XP64 issue, not shure.
well heres a lil update on my 965pt and e6300. highest nb volts i can run is 1.45v it will not boot with 1.55v tries everything. highest fsb was 480 then a restart my settings were:vcore 1.60v, vfsb 1.4v, nb 1.45v, vddr 2.2v. the memory is good to 530mhz 5-5-5-15 at 2.2v on ddr667 divider so i dont think thats holding me back. im using the 914 mod bios. could u guys give me ur bios setup that r hittin over 500+ fsb. stock bios was 914 and cpuz read tforce 965pt deluxe.thanks for all the help this thread is great:)
well i think the e6300 has a 480 fsb wall witch really sucks. no record trying with this one. i will buy a couple new e6300 soon to play with and will have better results then i hope. all settings messed with for hours and cant get over the 480fsb. 460fsb stable at low voltage and seem to be ok on the board. thanks again for all ur help everybody
Have you tried the 533 memory divider?
ya thats the main one i ran on. i have my p4 2.8ghz in it right now and hit 4.6ghz with 1.8vcore in bios but actually 1.76vcore in pc health.

Yeah, this thing is a disaster to get running, cold boots, hot restarts, takes some serious coaxing to get going. But the funny part is, once you get it running, it is rock solid.
