I have traded for 6yr(perfect heatware for 6yr) at Anandtech but selling cpu at these prices, I was hoping you guys had a place you found more eager buyersQuote:

As a follow up to my settings. I was thinking that some stable and non-defective Crucial Ballistix 2x1GB running at 280MHz would certainly help this config so that I can do 2,800 MHz at (280 x 10 x 3) with 1:1 memory at 280MHz.
I know that this is doable from the XtremeSystems - 2x1GB/1x1GB OC Database info shown but I'm so weary of all the dead Ballistix that this might not be worth the trouble. Especially when you consider that some of these chips failed weeks after they were purchased.
I know that this is just one of those illogical "I wanna, wanna, wanna..." feelings but 280MHz at 1:1 FSB (HTT) sure would sound nice.... along with a 0530 chip. ;)
My saving grace is that I got where I am today with this system and I didn't burn-out my parts... at least not yet I hope.
It wasn't exactly where I wanted to be since I was hoping for miracle of a chip that would do 2.9GHz or 3.0GHz on air or even a 2.8GHz at low 1.550V max voltages but we can't have everything we want in life especially when you can't custom pick the processors you purchase from online dealers. (Hint, hint... Newegg come in, provide a service to tell us your current in-stock CPU release batches for the hardcore OC'ers so they can pick and choose their CPUs.)
But anyway, 6-months to a year down the line these OC's won't matter since the 180 Opties will drop in price and maybe provide better yields and and we'll have 185's, 190's, and so on available.

They are at full load dual Prime95 SmallFFT - CPU 45C, PWC 42C, Chipset 38C. I've been posting my temp readings non-stop in this thread, go back a page or two and you'll see my long posts with all the temps listed and voltages. I've even went for 1.74V during testing but it didn't provide stability at 2,850 MHz so there was no reason to keep it.Quote:

Tomorrow after the overnight Prime95 strees test is finished I'll post a picture of the cooling setup in my case. You'll like the huge Zalman right next to a 120mm case fan sucking the air through the holes in the front of the Lian-Li case turning the whole case into a giant, perforated heatsink. Stay tooned...
You have 45C with dual prime on air?! What ambient do you have - 10C?
he's using DFI Expert which under reports idle temps by at least 10-15C and under reports load temps by 15-25C at least :)Quote:

dual Cpuburn K7 probably 3-4C hotter than dual prime :)
hmm just noticed that's 198W cpu heat there no wonder my Hydrocool 200EX is only rated at 200W hehe

Hi what shoudl i expect from 144up CABNE 0545 BPMW?:D
1x2800Mhz Primestable.But never 2x2800Mhz.
OK, I revisited that 0530 I got.
This is on air (Big Typhoon), in my new DFI Infinity SLI board, Zalman 400B PSU, 2 GB ECC memory.

So an excellent low-volt clocker, although it wasn't happy to go very high. I think I found my new server chip.
I've been hearing about DFI underreporting temps and voltages but I'd like to test the extent of this with a DMM. Unfortunatelly, the little mini RadioShack DMM that I have only does voltages and doesn't do temp readings, I broke the big DMM that had a temp reader. I'm hoping that maybe a friend of mine could bring over his DMM so I can test the CPU at load or at the worst I'll have to stop by RadioShack again and invest in a real DMM.Quote:

As for my 2,805 MHz clocking through the overnight, that was a no-go. After 1-hour 56-minutes the bastard Core#1 failed again. This shouldn't have happened I thought but since my computer woke me up at 4AM when it stopped I didn't have time to figure out what's wrong.
I just set the system down to 2,750 MHz at 250 x 11 x 4 and start it again. It's been running for 9-hours 40-minutes with the same temps and voltages as before. I'm going to let it run for a while since I don't need to use that system for anything right now. At least I hope to have a stable record of Prime95 at 12-hours at this speed.
Now that I think of it, I did drop the voltages on the LDT to 1.30V and Chipset back down to 1.52V before I started testing the 2,805 MHz last night. I'm wondering if these lowered voltages are what caused the stoppage. I do remember one or two people making posts regarding upping the LDT voltage by 0.1V to stabilize their system. I'll restart it again at 2,805MHz but at LDT 1.50V and let it go again overnight.
Excuse me if i post here some general questions, but since my new rig will be based on Opteron 175 and i have intention to overclock all the system i would want ask to expert guys like you... please be patient!!!:)
My spec:
- CPU: Opteron 175
- MB: DFI Expert
- EVGA 7800GT CO (470/1100)
- HD: Hitachi 250Mb SATAII
- MDVD: Philips 1648K
- Floppy
- PSU: Seasonic S12-600
1) What is better to push to the limit (:D) the above system: Mushkin Redline PC 4000 2x1GB or OCZ Platinum EB 2x1GB? ---> This question is mainly for :worship:Eva2000!!!
2) Do you think that i can have some problem with the Seasonic PSU for this system? (like not enough A on the rails, etc.)
Thanks you VERY MUCH:bows:
OTT:
id personally go for the gskill HZ set (they consistantly clock better)
im almost positive the s12 600 can handle this, i hear people talking about the 500 handling a rig like yours. and for :banana::banana::banana::banana:'s sake i sure hope it can handle it because i have a very similar setup as yours and i ordered a s12 600w
Well, i think the S12-600 should be fine, but...
We are on same boat!!!:surf: ehm surf:D
Thanks for the reply
Just got my Opt 170 CCBWE 0546XPMW Retail from Mwave.com that I ordered on Monday.
I read postings of good results.
Can I get some results from owners of this stepping? Thanks
I will be getting OEM Opt 165 from Monarch tomorrow. I will post the stepping as well for those who are interested.
it says right in the screenie in white text what cpu it is 0546XPMW ;)Quote:

so working on it heh
OTT, if you can find good pair of 2GB OCZ PC4000EB go for it mine are beta OCZ group samples (basically retail) that do max 3D 278mhz 3-3-2-5 and max 32M superpi 282mhz 3-3-2-5 all at 2.64v
Ok i'm a bit worried about "whispers" of E6 defective chips...
I am holding in my hands right now ... brand new sealed Opteron 165 0530TPMW. Sexy!
Woohoo! It just got here. Opteron 165: CCBWE 0546MPMW
Just need to get a heatsink now...
Do I have to reinstall Xp if I'm just switching cpus?
opt 175 to opt 170?

Ok this is a KEEPER! It's already dual priming @ 2.8 GHz 1.48V @ 48C.
Hm.. it's not failing either
Congrats..where did that sweet chip come from?:toast:Quote:
