Well, I have 2 sticks of the OLD ballistix 4000 that are single sticks, no problems. I can prime all damn day, whatever... Are u guys sure that the ram is really erroring because it's bad? Maybe u just need active cooling on it, they do run hot like tccd does.
As I mentioned, I have always been running active cooling on it. The ambient room temp was always between 68F (20 C) and 74F (23.3). Right now it's 69F (20.5C). That's pretty damn cold ambient temp compared to most.Quote:

Sorry, I missed the active cooling part, I guess the old single sticks are better than the new sets. I'm glad I have a good set. Time for u to rma looks like.

Most of those timings are at auto which is pretty loose already, but a couple more MHz might come out with even looser timings. Voltage is pretty much maxxed out with little or no difference between 2.8 and 2.9. 3.0V has no gains over 2.9V from what I've seen.
I've got active air cooling over the ram too.
I can pass Super Pi32M no problems, but If I am to get the max overclock, I have trouble passing Prime 95!
My question is, is SuperPi good enough?
I was one of the first with the ballistix. I had 2 single 1gb ballistix tracers from new egg.
i just recently sold then (monday) to get the muskin redline 2gb kit. At time of sale they were running at 255 3-3-3-8 2.6v No errors in memtest. Just the way i left it 2 months ago when i hit my sweet spot. Again these were Ballistix Tracers (pretty flashing lights).
No errors or issues here after 2 months.

I really need to know something and hope SOMEONE can enlighten me :D
Ive got the CRUCIAL BALLISTIX 2GB KIT (DDR500). From looking into this Ram, there was a fiasco as to some of this ram having different chips on them. I just wanted to make sure that my kit was as it should be, so from reading the posts here, was advised to take off the heatspreaders to check the chips themselves.
Just wanted to know if this VOIDS THE WARRANTY? It was a bit of a pain getting the heatspreader off one of the Dimms and scratched the heatspreader a tiny bit ie just left a mark on it. But nothing else. I did my check then put it back together again!
At the moment Im running the RAM at 290Mhz (2.64V)1-1 (1T) with an AMD Opteron 146 at 2.9Ghz, primestable and at 48-49 degrees at full load (1.48V). It passes Memtest no problems
Just worried about the warranty terms if something was to go wrong in the future. Any advice is appreciated.

i have had the same problems as you, Brit. ordered mine 8/23/05. slowly seemed to be dying on me... gkskill gh works totally fine though. im calling crucial next week

I hope that someone can help me here! I have the 2GB Ballistix memory installed in my system and my AMD 146 Overclocked at 2900Mhz at the moment. However, the weird thing is, when the RAM is overclocked to 290Mhz it passes Memtest86+ but the Blend setting in Prime 95 fails after about 10 minutes. When I use a 180 Divider, Prime 95 is oki.
Any ideas here? I really want to get my Ram upto 290Mhz and run 1 | 1
But being a newbie, im not sure about the settings

Im pretty sure the memory controller of your CPU is having it hard time!. Try setting loose timmings or 2T just 2 check if that helps!.
Somebody experience with Hynix D43 chips? My friend has bought the most cheapest 1GB sticks and it came with Hynix D43 chips on brainpower PCB :toast:
High latency chips(3-4-4-X), dont like too much voltage, usually hits 245 - 265Mhz @ 2,8Volt, at high voltage (3.1v+) is cooling recommendedQuote:

Also, running 2T will surely be much slower than 1T? With your advice, would it theoretically be better to:

Ofcourse tight timmings is the best, but the way to overclock is to Reach X's Speed using ANY METHODS that are possible but to read that speed totally stable. Once you have reached your speedgoal, you can tweak that using better timmings.
I'd use 3-4-4-8 and move tRC to 9~11 and tRFC 16~22 and check on that. Tighter is always faster but less stable. 2T is ok if the Memory Controller is a biatch.
Just got these back from rma.. They will do the settings in my sig 8+ hours prime stable..
