So whats the verdict on the AN8-SLI non-fatality? Worth it or not? Does it still have 3.55 vdimm? 1t issues? or is all this from the AN8 Ultra?

Its not worth it! If you have the patience and risk taking, go for the DFI. If you want it totally safe, get Asus. If you want good overclocking and stability, Epox makes pretty decent NF4 boards.
Do the new A8n Ultras have 3.55 vdimm or not?
Yes they do.
3.55V (1.75V Vtt) with some older BIOS and 3.4V (1.7V Vtt) with the latest BIOS.
Why did Abit chose to drop the vdimm ?
What is the best BIOS for the AN8-Ultra 13, 14, 16, 17?
ver 17
Totally agree with tictac.Quote:

13 for me
I'm thinking to get dfi sli-dr expert now :/ if I have extra cash, it would be easier to cool the NB as well more gap between the gfx cards since I'm running sli mode as well, unless abit gonna release new bios that actually works, its more painfull to run expensive ram at lower than spec speed.
really the only downside i experienced....and sold mobo since....it will probably get fixed up but who can wait...i realised that my RAM is worth almost 2-3x as much as the damn mobo...so RAM got priority :slapass:Quote:

I couldn't even get the PC to boot with auto settings. Setting them to MANUAL I could get it to boot, but it would shut off. Confused, frustrated, I tried everything and then it hit me (I didn't read any posts regarding the 1T issue and this board since my OCZ worked at 1T fine) I changed the Crucial to 2T and bam it was stable. I tried each stick out and they would run 1T and overclock, but in dual channel mode it would shut the PC off. I can't even increase the voltage to this ram past 2.6 or it shuts down the PC 1T or 2T regardless.Quote:

I am pretty frustrated with this board and thought of going to DFI. Switching boards to me is more of a PITA then RMA'ing ram so I will give G.Skill a try, and see if I can at LEAST do 240 HTT with a 1T command rate.
I have ALWAYS been ABIT, but this will be my last until they get their acts together :slap:  :slapass:
Well sad to report that my Abit AN8 Ultra is DEAD, well almost... constant freezing, occasional reboot, and some times fails to load windows... @ stock or overclocked sttings.... initialy I thought it was my X2 Manchester CPU, but I [cringe] bought a DFI NF4 Ultra Infinity [/cringe] and all is stable again.... and no 1T problem at all not even in PC2005 memory suite... the only issue is DFI's noisy chipset fan... loudest component in my case.
abit must be pretty stupid not to respond to the customer or are they taking their time until they have no more customer? well other mobo manufacturers are happy anyway especially DFI, more share for them coz they deserve the bux.
I just setup my AN8 Ultra today, awesome board. Where can i find BIOS 13, its the best one right? CPU-Z says i have BIOS version 6, dono if thats right or not.
I also need someone with UTT to tell me their timings down the line or anyone with a link to good timings for UTT.
Whats DDR VTT and stuff, do I need to raise it?
bugeyes: I will be making the switch to DFI when they release the Xpert board here in the U.S. Hopefully it fixes the voltage issues the previous board was having, but still remain a good OC mobo.
I was going to replace my ram, replace this, replace that, but in the end, ABIT is NOT listening nor responding to their customers. I was tempted to switch to an EPOX board but I will hold out for the DFI one.
Is the AN8 finicky with RAm slots like the DFI? Would the purple slots work better than the green ones?
i didn't have any issues running it in either config so not that finnicky....DFI is a much bigger pain in the ass
My mobo just started freaking out. I did a restart and then tried to tighten the timings but then the computer started to make a buzzing noise, but would still get into windows. THen it started to shut itself down (the normal way!). Im typing on it now but had to pull the cable and did a fail safe. Mobo shows FF on the led but still makes the noise (constant and very annoying) Temps are fine too. Its just weird. ANy ideas? Should i do a flash? Im on the stock bios, and im useing tccX, what shoulc i flash too?
I replaced the bios chip on mine thinking that it would fix the the fact that i cant shut this thing down or it wont boot back up without a cmos reset.
that was normal with mine too...just get into bios and stop itQuote:
