That's a lot of bad boards. Just letting people know my experience so they don't throw good money away on an untrustworthy board.

^^ Indeed, never owned an Nforce MSI board that let me run Dual Channel or 1T. Love my DFI board though but then again...I'm using A+ components with it as suggested!
How are people's experiences with using 4v for the memory??
After reading about some people's problems with 4v I decided to stick with using 3.2v and not moving the jumper over. I never could really overclock very much on my system, it drove me nuts... while it could pass tests there were certain crashes in games that hinted at some kind of instability, so I went stock for a long time as I put this whole thing aside.
Recently I decided to push the pedal to the metal and overclock my system fully. To that end I used the 4v jumper so I could set the memory to 3.4 (ends up being 3.46v in bios). I have a PC Power and Cooling power supply and reasoned that with a rock solid PSU I should be able to avoid any problems with using the 4v jumper. The mosfet next to the jumper only gets warm, and I do have a good fan blowing on the memory (and the mosfet). (edit/added: Memory is OCZ Gold VX series that is supposed to be set at 3.3v-3.5v. Two modules for 1GB total. Broke 250 at 1T without a sweat... so I'll later on push it further and see how far I can take it)
Incredible. All the crashes I had with games previously from any kind of overclocking have vanished. Was able to ramp up everything and use 1T where I couldn't before. No more hunting for that one setting that would finally allow me to play games for hours without CTD. I should have tried that a long time ago!
So I just wanted to see if anyone's been using 4v for a long time with no problems... I have no idea if a few months from now I'll see a dead board. I'll report if that happens. If I haven't posted in a long time it should be safe to say I'm not having 4v problems....
Hi @ all!
can anyone suggest me a bios for my new opteron 170 please? :D
it 2006/03/29 okay?
Well i'm using 0406BTA (latest official bios modded by Tony) and I had no problems ocing to what I have in my sig. Also you could try 704-2BTA first because it is considered the best ocing bios by many people. However it doesn't include the latest fixes from the last official bios, but you can live with that.
Thanks for your reply :D
i read here some "0406 killed my mobo" & "704 killer" too .. isn't that true so? :O
i can't see 704 here , isn't tha official?
Thanks again ;)
killing the mobo ? don't know about that but I guess it is safer to flash using a floppy or CD than inwindows flashing
Both bios are not official but moded ones by Tony from OCZ

Usable only with a rom chip with that name?
Thanks again m8, your help is very helpfull! ;)
