Of course, since I've posted here and elsewhere that I'm not going to buy a Titan, and don't think they're an especially good deal, that kind of goes against the whole "shill" way of life too. By spending $1000 on a Titan and posting about it you're more of a shill for them than I. Last two cards I bought were AMD 7970s.

Could be because I'm not employed by NVIDIA, never have been, and they never agreed with a lot of what I posted. However; postiing on forums about hardware is my hobby, not my job, so I pretty much post what I think.

And what I think is I wouldn't consider one Titan an upgrade from either my 7970CF or my 680Sli, and that I don't need two Titans to run either of my 25X16 monitors.

If I did need two Titans to game on my 25X16 panels, I would join my son console gaming on our 60" and 50" tvs. Not because I can't easily afford several Titans every year, but because you get to a point of diminishing returns. While it's nice to game on 25X16 panel, or three panels at 57X10, it's also pretty nice to game on a 60" panel from an electric recliner.

Your posts don't make a whole lot of sense here, Baba. My guess is NVIDIA wouldn't consider me saying overclockers are a market they ignore by design and saying I won't be buying their products "shilling". I can't imagine why anyone would.

I was do it too lol... i was speak about " normal overclockers" .. i still have my phase change units and my old own handmade pots ( todays its more easy, we can use "commercial pots " ).. I have here 2 phase change units a "case " units the Vapochill XEII and lightspeed who take now the dust and are surely yellow due to my bad addict of smoking.. ( i should now mod the head for get it on new Intel sockets, and i have never find the time to do it ). ( the XEII is a bad case outside the phase change; they have put the PSU in front of the CPU lol.. and ofc with the phase change units, it is realy loud. Some years ago, i was able to use it 24/24.. but now i couldnt stand the sound ).. I dont count the numbers of P5W64 Workstation boards i have kill with bad insulation with this XEII case. and it is really ugly ( nothing to compare with Littledevil cases ) and the head fixations was badly made ( the scew was dead after 3 mounts )

Ugly but i remember, many peoples who was coming to my home been completely crazy about it.. they was using big tower air coolers, happy of the results, of their moddings, of their works, and then they was seen: " this thing" .. ( and heard, because everyone who have a phase change unit know the sound it do when you push the power button of the pc and the compressor is starting heat up)

I think i have allready seen Kingpin with HE on titans, or i have dreamn ? But its clear, the advantage of phase change units, cascade or not is you can oc your cards/ CPU cores 24/24 under subzero condition.


Anyway i still wait after a Frankenstein move for the PWM on Titan ( use a 680 lightning as PWM ).. The Pwm are definitievely too weak... need a Frankenstein mod

I remember making my own PLL once in about 1998, lol. Worked, but didnt do what I wanted it to since I hadnt learned enough yet :)

Nah it ended up that they showed off the N660Ti PE instead of the rumored titan lightning.
Thing is, there was a pic out on the net with the same new heatsink but with a titan lighting label next to the pcie connector.
That was put out on the net before cebit 2013 started.
So the person that did it, if they faked it, they had access to that card before it was displayed in public.
So I don't know if the rumor was fake or not, do note though that some brands makers didn't show all of there stuff either at cebit.

We might have to wait it out a bit longer just to know :\.
Hopefully it won't be no longer then 3 months tops :(.
I don't even wanna wait that long, hopefully it's just a month away from announcement ...

Titan will destroy the VC LS, no doubt about that. It was designed for CPUs which had TDPs about half of what the Titan has. Overclock that Titan and you're looking at three times the TDP. One of the last times I ran my LS was on a QX9650 at 5 GHz, man the popping and boiling sounds the cooler was making had me hiding behind the couch during SuperPi 32m :rofl:

As far as overclocking I was much more extreme years ago. I even used to have a phase change setup, I always looked for specific stepping numbers for my Opteron chips, compared multiple CPU stepping numbers swapping them in and out etc. This was in the days of AMD dominating over the Intel Pentium mainly because of architecture and AMD had an on-board memory controller. Still those old Pentium EE overclocks into the 5-6Ghz range seemed amazing too.

Specifically on topic - I am not having a problem with the two ASUS TITANS. They are rated stock at 876Mhz. They run fine for a couple hours of gaming at around 990Mhz~1.0Ghz. I do have to turn the power percentage target and fan speed up in the ASUS utility to maintain this.

My cards are NOT downclocking themselves from those levels. I have checked this carefully after reading reports here and elsewhere.

So I have tuned them in around 970Mhz for 24/7, with a quieter fan speed. That is still over 10% increase on reference ASUS cards.

Does anyone have any info on driver optimization for TITAN surround SLI? This is really the issue IMHO - I have tested one card vs. both and they do not scale up nearly as well in SLI as should be possible. I think there is a lot of optimization room in TITAN SLI performance just based on my past experiences of SLI scaling and if NVIDIA will address this we will see some big bumps in performance with multi-card setups in the future.;)

Did anyone, who went from a 670/680 to the TITAN notice that gaming is a lot more snappy, even at the same framerate (the mouse movement is more fluid/quicker & smoother). Its almost like the feel when you go from a 60 to a 120hz panel. First i noticed it in Metro2033 and then in Far Cry 3 where it was even more obvious. On the 680 i played FC3 on HIGH settings and was averaging in the 80-100FPS range(vRam usage around 1.2gig). Anything below 80 was stutter-ish so i left it on HIGH. Now with the TITAN, i play it on ULTRA & MSAAx2/4, get (give or take) same FPS but the game, more precisely the mouse movement is A LOT more snappy.
Could the larger amount of vRam play a role in this?

Would really love to hear if anyone of you noticed the same.


Anyway, i am really happy with the card. It OCs to 1160C without touching the voltage(ASIC quality = 85.1% according to GPUz). Thinking of fitting my H80 or one of my Coolit Domino`s on it, or just buy good cooler and see how high it scales with more V.


BTW: KILLER setup, Andreas. Your room must be bright enough just from the 4 logos, hehe.

When the GPU is around 78-80c the top left hottest mem chip is around 68-70c. Lower down near the PCIe slot they're around 57-59c. I've measured this running a Titan on an open test bench with an Fluke IR temp gun.

That's not so bad. I thought it would be warmer.

They are doing fine. I am using a 230mm fan in the case to provide some cool air. Looks like they are safe.

A few experiences:
The Titan's seems to be good for multiple GPU setups.
On idle, they are a few degrees above room temperature. The lowest card at 25 degree, the top card 32 degree (The fan didn't cover the top card well. Changed the position)

Energy consumption at idle is 140 Watt at the socket. Not bad, considering 4 GPUs and a i7-3930K with 64 GB RAM.
I had a Silverstone 1200 watt PSU around, wasn't up to the task. With heavy workloads, the fuse went regularily when all 4 GPU's drawed full power. 3 GPUs were fine. Will get tomorrow a 1500 Watt Enermax Platimax. Should fix this issue.

The Titans come with PCIe 2.0 speed enabled, don't forget to apply the NVidia patch for PCI 3.0 speed.
PCI speed is ok, albeit the 4 memory channels of the i7-3930 are with memory intensive loads a bottleneck. (Probably the reason why 3-SLI has bad scaling and 4-SLI has negative scaling. I don't do gaming, just a guess)

The (low) noise level is impressive.
The high temperature airflow at full GPU load behind the case is also impressive.
There is a temperature delta when the case is upright (the top card gets earlier into temp.control) - solution: flip the case horizontally

Got the new PSU today.

Due to better efficiency of the Enermax PSU, power consumption at the outlet is now 135 watt when idle.
Highest power consumption until now is with FurMark 1.10.5: 1130 Watt with all 4 GPUs active

Furmark Results
with 1920x1080 setting: 15.065 pts
with 1280x720 setting: 19.016 pts

Can someone point me to the FurMark results database for multiple GPU's? Many thanks.
