that board reminds me remotely of soyo's dragon board, alot of bling, little performance, except in this case, it's alot of bling, non-existant board, to be honest I will prob keep sticking with DFI because of better support, ex: bios and junk

Why I brought this up is becoz someone has spotted retail Groupers in our PC Mall and its goin for SGD$329 !!! :slobber: Sapphire might have missed your email Tony. I am gona go invetigate the Caps used on the mobo tomoro after work before gettin one. What CPU Regulation Cap colour would I be preferably lookin out for Tony.
Check this out as well..... :)
They delayed this board too much. I couldn't wait any longer, so i went with a DFI RDX200.
I'm not satisfied with the DFI rdx200, I want to see a shootout of ALL these new ati boards before I buy one. Looks like since dfi is canceling their board :( It'll be a shootout with the dfi rdx board vs all the other ones then.
god i hope someone picks up halibut, it seems to good of a design not to...
i wish ati would just make one like they do with ati brand videocards.
Sapphire have requested their own version of halibut is qualified so we may all see a reference designed board after all. I have again mailed sapphire but again i get no responce from them...shame!
If any of you guys buy Grouper please post your experiences here in this thread, lets keep all the info in 1 place etc.
I should have my own ATI built grouper back in a week or so, it needed a few repairs and tweaks. As soon as its back we can compare boards and see how they stack up on overclocking.
Add this thread to it then, cos they are shipping in the UK.Quote:

i was really hoping for grouper or halibut to be released by dfi, as oskar always seems to unlock so much extra from a board with his bios files.
I received my Grouper from Sapphire yesterday so I'll be doing some testing with Mushkin Redline XP4000 which can do 266 MHz (3,5 V) with DFI nF4 SLI-DR (tight settings).
Sampsa gets everything, even the xbox 360 :eek:Quote:

Also the guy over at OCUK has posted pics of board (retail board) and caps used, anyone know what these are from the pic?

I have Good News. I picked up a Grouper today after inspecting it. Sapphire have changed the Caps as promised. The Retail Grouper has only Sanyo and Nichicon caps on board. The ones pictured are Nichicon caps for the big ones and Sanyo caps for the 2 smaller ones :woot:
Time to rejoice :toast:
I didnt mention the Metal type Caps though. Not sure what make they are but IIRC they are also Nichicon caps....... :p:
Cool, thanks for that Afterbuner. :toast:
So how long before you can get the board up and running?, be interested in hearing how it goes.
come on come on dont just post, go hook it and see wassup with this thing.
That's great, I'm getting one now, as soon as it comes out here.
Yeah we're waiting for some initial comments.
:)
