wow grats!!! tell me what are you aiming for 24/7?
Not sure buddy, I just got the chip today but I can say it runs very cool compared to my 965 C0.
So maybe 4.4 or so, depending on temps and voltages need for stability.
This is what I use for my regular gaming OS.. It's a xeon w3680..

How is temps under load at 4.8 Bodar? You on water I assume too right?
sorry guys if OOT
my pc wont shut down , i need help
i already shut down but the post code still FF
please need help
im using dual boot windows xp & windows 7 its also have same problem
Clear your CMOS, this will fix it, then load optimized and start over again. If you are using RAID be sure you set your SATA/Disk settings again after you load optimized and reboot before going back into windows.
One good shot in for the night, proves to be very productive! I can't wait to get this under dry ice!!!!

CPU-Z Validator 3.1
Will push Ghz tomorrow and see how far she can go on water. This is the best chip I have ever had I think, and I was told it was kind of a dud, well for LN2 anyway.
I'll have to pass along my first day progress to my contact, I think he will be very surprised. I know More Ghz matter to most people, but I have a thing for high Bclk's so had to play around with that a bit first before anything.
This beats my previous dry ice runs at -68C by a lot, with 3 different CPU's (920, 965, W3520) and my UD4P (Modified) I could only get 238-239 Bclk, with a TON of hard work, time, and dry ice. And this is only on water day one with CPU, so nice!!
Now I just need some 2000Mhz CAS 7 memory and I will be set! :up:
So this C1 clicking when booting when OCed. Do you think it's CPU related? Does anyone actually know the common cause for this? I see many people writing about this, but no solutions. I bought this mobo to get rid of the C1 problems i had with my UD3R. They persisted. Should I go get myself a D0 instead of the :banana::banana::banana::banana:ty C0 I currently have?
This looks really good vCore for such a high OC, and really good for 24/7.
This is a really good BCLK too.
These CPUs are really good. You guys have chosen the right time to get one. You never know how long the stock of good batches lasts. ;)
I have C1 Problem with x58-extreme. I change Ram it can't solve the Problem. But the last i will change to UD7.
@Fritz_the_germ
i already tried to clear cmos but it still wont work , when i shut down the pc still on with FF on post code
@stasio
i mean how to uninstall the raid driver
Thanks so much! It works great.. It seems like most everyone, es or retail has really great 6 core chips! I'm off to buy some LN2 just to see if I can run superpi at 6ghz :)
Yeah these are expensive, but they are not going to get cheaper anytime soon, unless AMD can really shake Intel. Next option for buying affordable 32nm 6-core seams to be Q3, according to current announced plans (if they don't change suddenly).
It is always a good idea to buy Intel CPU just after the release. They have a tendency to get "crappy" with less OC-headroom, after a while. I've got my 2 last CPUs, a golden w3520, and a great B-bacth i7 CO, both right after the release.
I don't think there is a big different in model#. The differences are usually based on batch#, so if you find proven Xeon W3680 batch# go for it, otherwise go for a proven 980x-batch#.
I haven't seen any retail Xeon W3680 around, and I don't know if retail is out yet, but I've found a couple of good 980x- batches:
3003B287
3003B242
Try to track down one of these, or other good batch# you may find around forums.
EDIT:
Just checked the Xeon W3680 retail is out now. A good Xeon-batch# can have a higher biding with better OC-headroom, but you should try to find a proven good batch#.
Hello to everyone, first posting, bad English and another noob question:D
Ok , i got PC from signature, bios is reading temp for MCH around 52c. Is that normal or i should be worried? Also , i am interested what are idle-max temps for those who have megahalems+i7 920, because mine are around 42c-76c reported in realtemp (while bios is reading around 5-6c lower(?)). And last but not least, did anyone solved post code reset problem. I mean everything is working perfectly stable at @3,8, but this cold boot is driving me crazy. When i put default settings MB is booting normal:(.
Thank you, i am very glad to be a part of this community! :wave:
Do you guys know is it worth to get an 980x ES chip over retail or what? Because I'm seeing some on eBay and they are selling it slightly cheaper and its quite tempting. Or should I get the retail version?
