Indeed, max oc atm is 8x445= 3.56ghz. It's a retail 6400, but I only need 1.5v (in windows) to complete a 1M superpi. I haven't done more testing, so there's a big chance 1.5v isn't gonna be rockstable.

Yeah I meant multiplier 6. But is it really possible the cpu doesn't go over 445mhz, even when you're using mp 6 ?(6x445=low clockspeed).

Has anyone compared the performance of the Intel and Gigabyte SATAII controllers? Non-RAID of course.

Quick question. I have DDR2 667 Corsair ram. I am not oc'ing the system at all. Is it better to run the ram at 1:1 (533) or 4:5 (667)? Would I see a difference in performance, is one better than the other?

i have one problem , i changed some settings in Bios and SAVE and EXIT and now wont Boot , the computer is turning OFF and Turning ON automaticly in a cicle and only turn OFF if i turn OFF directly in the power suply .

I already tried clear cmos but wont boot , its the same thing ( turn OFF , turn ON , Turn OFF , Turn ON ......) .

Anyone with same problem???

Well all was well with me until I applied a Microsoft driver update for JMicron. Now my DVD drive does NOT SHOW UP!
I've tried to uninstall the gigabyte Controller (Yellow !) but can not get the optical drive back for nothing!
Anyone else run into this???

3rd reboot and remove finally found new hardware and all is good again.

This board is a lot better then the other DS3 I've had. I quit at 1.5v but seems like it has more in it with more Vcore.

You might as well run it at full speed, why not..

It gave a performance increase on an 805 for me so for conroe I would say definetly! Try downloading everest and test for yourself or superpi is quicker/simpler.


I want to know which boards allow for higher fsb even with slow ram like this..

come on man you should know this by now. this is OLD OLD school knowledge.
(many people also missed that i reported this many moons ago)

you have to uninstall the gigabyte controller and then resinstall it as the standard ide controller.

wrong

conroe doesnt benefit THAT much from higher ram.
it does as its the nature of any cpu. but the power of the conroe is in its own processing power its not dependant on ram.
there isnt even that much of a difference from single channel and dual channel.

and there isnt hardly any difference from 800mhz 5-5-5 and 4-4-4...

Do you even look and see what cpu is being used? I just ran it, didn't turn off anything, just ran it. I do know the difference between a 6600 and a 6400 as I've had both and the 4 vs 2 cache is huge in spi 1m.

I think he'd benefit from the faster ram speed when multitasking, it doesnt do any harm anyway in his case

Hi Everyone,

I've been playing with my E6300 on the DS3, and managed to get it stable at 470fsb. on cheap Geil 2 x 1 gig 5300 memory. Because it's used as a server I have backed it down to 460 fsb. I can't believe how good these chips are.

Got my DS3 yesterday and 0 problems with it so far. Rev 1.0, came with F4e bios 'installed'. Running my dualprime stable E6400 @ 400 x 8, all voltages default (vcore set manually to 1.32whatever) except for vdimm which is +0.2. Temps are fine, no PIO mode crap as some have experienced, however there are many devices on a small number of IRQs but I don't have a problem with that, since the system seems blazing fast anyway.

F4e??? That isn't even a retail bios?!?!? Thats a beta bios isn't it? F4 was the newest released bios. Why would your mobo be flashed with a beta bios that just came out a week ago?

It was pre-tested I figure.
