On the Corsair HX620 there is a 4pin cable (besides from the 24 & 8pin) that is not modular, I don't think I'll ever need it, so can I just cut it off and put some heatshrink over it?

I wouldn't ask but my order from mdpc-s got here today and being the idiot I am I ordered twice as much sata heatshrink as I meant to and no small. :(

Advice: Don't buy the Sunbeam pin-remover it is crap, The sides are too thick, it will not take any pins out instead it will break like that :down:

Finally got my Samsung 8000 series LED TV and new receiver and speakers. Sleeved all the speaker wires today with black MDPC-X sleeving. Another great use of beautiful sleeve!

Absolutely... many, many, many ways to do just about anything, though I have to admit out of all the various crimping tools the infamous "Crimping Tool" in the arena of ATX pins took me the longest to get modestly proficient at.Quote:

After I've tinned the tip I use my thumb and index finger and gently insert the wire into the pin. Then, just as shazza suggested, using needle nose pliers I squeeze the back crimping braces holding the wire into place.

Next I set the pin in the crimping tool and apply pressure until it clicks 1 time. This allows me to make any adjustments such as squaring the pin flush in the crimping groove.

Before applying anymore pressure I always check the other side of the crimping tool to make sure that the 2 tiny vertical "fins" aren't inside the crimping area.

Finally and with a bit of luck I end up with a result that looks something like the following pic... though I never use looks as my only determining factor. I like to grab the wire with one hand and then grab the crimped pin with the other and pull fairly hard to make sure the pin doesn't come off.

I always try and find 18 gauge wire the exact color of the sleeve at hand, though contrast is more important... Anyhow, I've got to get back to it... Here's a quick and dirty shot of a 24 pin that I think I will redo soon (I since found a cleaner way to heatshrink and so redoing sleeve has become all to common a part of the learning process).

Do you mind sharing your heatshrinking trick with us? I still have troubles getting everything nice and even.
Has any of you tried to use PVC tubing sleeving instead of braided sleeving?
