Well, if the heatsink isn't even warm, it just might have bad contact with the processor.
Yes, I have a mild overclock, currently running my E6400 at 3,0GHz. Close to the stock voltage though.

so how many of you are using EIST?
i'm a little perplexed about it: to enable it, I had to disable the manual multi in BIOS, and then enable the Intel EIST thingy into Automatic.....and then once in windows I put the Power setting in "Minimal Power conservation" mode.
I see perhaps a 1-2C decrease when it idles and it goes down to 2.8 (x6 multi) from 3.3... But my question is, the Vcore is still set as hard coded 1.35volts.
I ran orthos and all seems well and stable (immediately jumps back to x7 and runs fine) and same with SuperPi.......but I just dont get how people are getting 4C lower when idle if Vcore is constant.
any EIST gurus out there?
anyway I can fix it ? Intel wont rma this cpu until its dead :slapass: ,, could it be a bad motherboard sensor?Quote:

I've gotta agree with Revv23 on this one............................Quote:

Max fsb cpu or board :D. Same settings/hsf only change is cpu.
1st one does 3800 dual 32m but max fsb is 7x512 1M (6x is same) and 7x510 dual 32M:

2nd E6600 does 6 and 7x550 1M max and at least 540 dual 32M:

Turn off the PSU then unplug the PSU.
Remove PSU Connectors from MB, remove CMOS battery, move CLRT jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
LEAVE IT THIS WAY ABOUT 1 HOUR. This will give the caps plenty of time to drain.
Place CLRT jumper back to pins 1-2, replace battery, replace PSU connectors to MB, plug PSU back up, turn on.
I've had several problems lately with 711 and 801 not POSTing after certain BIOS settings and it took this to get the CMOS cleared.

Man i knew it was you. I sent you a pm.Quote:

another problem when I shutdown the I get a loud beep  just before it shutsdown and then its goes off

Can someone please provide a link or PM for the 0801 bios please? Thanks
Thanks everyone for the info on installing my SATA Burner.
I do have one JMicron question though... are people using the drivers off the Asus CD or the Asus FTP to make their 'F6' Disk?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898114/
Microsoft says:
"This Stop error is more likely to occur in the following types of computers:
• On a computer that is stressed
• On a computer that uses multiple processors or hyper-threading
• On a computer that mounts volumes frequently on removable media devices"
Now, the web page says that the issue is for Windows 2000 based systems. I don't think that includes XP in MS's eyes.
Anyone else ever have an issue with this one?
