Can some one tell me what is the safe temp for the maximus northbridge , my show at 54C , Voltage is at 1.55,thanks
And my overclock on this mobo:

(i have inserted picture, but it doesn't work)
it doesnt work cuz your picture is too large. if you read the little warning that comes up it clearly states the file your trying to upload is too large.
its a png file @ 500kb.
pictures can only be 200kb
save it as a jpg and resize it since the picture doesnt need to be your entire desktop nor 1280x1024
I will remember this! (I thought it just make link to picture from the internet- I'm used this from other forums)
Its still in png, but is under 200kb:cool:

anyone try flashing to the rampage formula bios? i see that the beta is up on the asus website but im a too skirred to try myself... im wondering if anyone else has had success with this
Hi have just got this board and i wanted to know whats the different between a rev 1.02g and a 1.03g! Have got the 1.03g and my friends got the 1.02g!
The problem apparently is starting to getting recognition. Remember, you are not the only one with this problem. Do a google search using the words "E8400 temperature problem" and see what comes up
1.02g = motherboard with waterblock on north bridge chipset
1.03g = motherboard with regular copper heat sink on north bridge chipset
from what I know.
Ok I couldn't wait so I purchased myself a G0 and put it in my Formula..
I'm using the following settings in the bios for 3.6GHz

I ran SPI 32M and 2 hrs prime and it seemed to be stable. Then tonight I noticed my temps at core 0/1 were bigger than core 2/3 and after a SPI32m it produced an error.. Especially core 0 can reach 10-12Celcius higher than core 2/3. Core 1 is 5-6Celcious higher than core 2/3.. The fact is that cpu0 which depicts by far the higher idle/load temp is the only one that causes the instability even at 1.4vcore.. It reaches at 75C-78C sometimes and of course causes instability, while the other cores don't have problems whatsoever. Cpu1 reaches max 70-71 cpu2/3 max 68-69..
I tried to up the vcore to 1.425 and 1.45 but it only made cpu0 reach 75-78C quicker.. So the problem seems not to be the vcore but the hight temp that only this core depicts under load..
So what do you think is the case here? Do I need to test something else in the settings? Or are we talking about a uneven cpu surface? It could also be my Ultra 120 extreme that has the problem..
What do you suggest me to do in order to reach a stable 3.6GHz O/C?
I bought an open box Maximus Formula from a local retailer.
The BIOS it had on it was the 907... I could not change any settings in the GURU without getting a NO POST.
SO...I thought maybe a bad bios flash, so I downgraded to the 903....NOW, I can OC all I want, everything worked great to OC manually.
So.... I upgraded to the 907 again, flashed it the same way as the 903 that worked, .....NOW, I can't get it to post if I change anyting in the OC section of the BIOS.
Any ideas why the 907 will not let me even raise the FSB to 375 without a no post, yet the 903 will allow me to OC to 3.6..??
I have an e8400, HIS HD3870, Ballistix PC6400 (2gb), PC P&C 750w silencer
Im guess if there is no difference It wont really matter if the 907 works, but I am just curious why the 903 will aloow me to do whatever I want in the BIOS and it boots fine, but when I put the 907 on, I can't post if I change anything at all..... the 907 will bott up and run fine as long as I keep it set to "load defaults" but as soon as I try to change anything in it, "NO POST"
I flashed the 907 the exact same way I flashed the 903, so I don't think it would be a bad flash...and I have tried the 907 I downloaded from the ASUS site and the one that is listed at the beginning of this forum, both did the same thing.
907 BIOS
12 hours prime (64 bit version) stable on blend and small fft tests
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/1180/36uh1.th.jpg http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1...lendzs8.th.jpg
Here's a 10 hour run on blend. When I first got this chip it primed 12 hours but I didn't take any shots of it. I'll update with a pic of small fft for 10-12 hours when I prime again.

Your northbridge voltage is looking REALLY high to me and might be adding to the heat around the CPU. I have 1.5v running through my NB and it runs 400mhz just fine. I'm also assuming you're using DDR2-800 ram, you might want to try running it at 800mhz for a while and see if you still fail the stress tests. Prime95 the system for at least 8 hours and if it passes then you know the RAM was being pushed too far.
HALLO MATES ..CAN Somebody help me?..
i can t change in bios mhz of ram..there is only 800mhz..1000MHZ...934mhz...and 1111MHZ...but i wanna change to 1200MHZ...where can i find it?..
What's the usual threashold for northbridge temperature on this board?
I tested C1 and EIST last days and I can say, that EIST does nothing, when VCore is set manually. And C1 does clockrates down by using smallest multiplicator in Idle.
But lowering VCore does not work with VCore set manually.
All in all you can say, that EIST is useless when OCing. C1 lowering multiplicator does even work with 500x7 for me and I`m using it while OCing, no problems.
Here are my settings for 417 X 9. So far it's 48 hours folding stable. I tried 423 X 9 and it would boot to Windows but failed prime95 immediately. I would have had to use over 1.5 vcore for stability. That was more than I wanted to put through it for 24/7 use. Core temps, 44,45,44 & 42. NB 30C. Ambient 70F.

Agreed. If you read this thread (item 3) http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=162085 , you would know that Anantech (raju) found that over 47C on the NB caused instabilities. Having read Raju's posts on many boards, I would not question his conclusions.
So far I'm frustrated to board since it wont go over 536fsb no matter what i do, that isnt the cpu that blocks me there since I've tried my e6850 with ss and dryice and 8400 pros and 536fsb is the max to get. :(
Otherwise nice mobo
I found Maximus 1.03G mix with Crucial 8500 my board doesn't work 1200mhz mem speed, i try vdimm 2.45v 1200 5-5-5-15 system freeze
any advice? what BIOS maximus good for OC ?
