My 3800+ can run 2.7Ghz dual PI32M stable , but 3Dmark03 will hang in the first test :slapass: , i checked my rails and realized they're drop too much  OMG !! With single core , they're never drop like this time .
So i'm planning buying a new psu , is the OCZ PS 520W good enough , my sys is under sig ??

Just imagine what a POS intel "dual core" hack job would do to your PSU, I have seen the graphs @ X-Bit and its frightening :stick:
Buy the very best you can afford, its an investment :)

hey, i was thinking about getting an X2 but should i get the 4400+ or the 4600+ if I was thinking of getting all the megahertz out of it that i can.
-
is anyone having problems running their memory at high speeds 1:1 with the X2? I know my 2X1GB Ballistix were stable at 260X10 with my 3700 San Diego, but i cant get my X2 (260X10) to be stable unless im running a divider. To try and compensate i have got the timings down to 2.5-3-2-8 but its still not the same as 3-3-3-8 @260. I have tried 1T and 2T at 260, both flunk out of LargeFFT and SuperPi flunks within a few minutes. Any suggestions?
EDIT: I have now tried cranking Vdimm up to my mobo's max of 2.85, and it seems to help a little although still not able to run 1T @260.

well i had my ram running @ 275 32m stable.. not prime tested or OCCT..
this was 2.5-4-3-7 on TCCD 1T 2 x 512
i had my cpu @ 275 x 10 so theres how high i can go on 1.55V and 2.76 vdimm.

Budwise, try changing your tref to 0128=200 1.95us. It made a big diff for me.

Hi, i just goit my x2 3800+ going and i'm having problems getting over 210 fsb. I;ve got OCZ 3200m platinum 2x 1gb stcks (2-3-2-5) htt 4x, and had stock voltage. It crashed @ 1.33 v. I'm using an MSI Neo2 Platinum. One thing that is also wierd, is that i show no difference in load temps and idel temps. @ stock voltage and fq it was 46-49C load or idle. Now @ 1.10 v and 2060mhz, its 43-44C load or idle. I dont understand. I'm using an older copper water block, but with a very slow pump, but my water temps are 27C at the water straight from the water block. This is with dual 78 cfm 120mm's on a 5x10 automotive trans cooler. Does it sound like my Heat spreader needs to come off? or is this just an initial condition??
Currently i'm running 2 X Hot Cpu, 1x prime 95, 2 x seti@home, and sisoft sandra burn in. Its basically frozen, so i know its getting a load, and using all 2gb of ram as well. its running 1.10v and 2060 mhz. who long should i run it like this?
ALSO: my 12+v is saying 11.61-11.77 in the bios and CORe center, bt in speed fna it says 12.28v. I;ve got a 680 watt ps, with 36A on the 12v channel, what gives???
EDIT : I turned off cool and quiet, and that helped a little. I got up to 2.3ghz for a moment, the it crashed. I also noticed that at 2.25 my 12v+ was down to 10.94v. and my 5v 4.84, so apprently my ps is a piece of crap. My temps @ 2.3 were 57C though, so, it really really seems like i need to remove the HS.

I can´t understand this Temp and Vcore, that's not the vcore i put in bios, but it shows that, i have the Shutdown temp to 60ºC, and he doesn´t shutdown, maybe wrong temp/vcore read?
CPU-Z Validation 2870Mhz@1,475 Above 113% Vcore
Is it to much 1,6Vcore 24/7 ?
My temps it's arround 35º~37º Idle and 44º~45º Full 1,6Vcore
Give me opinions
EDIT: Week 31/05, stepping don´t know
-
It's a fine CPU indeed, (o meu já cá mora tb logo ou amanhã falamos).Hope i'm that lucky. :woot:
-
I'm ready to place my order for my 4400+ and was wondering where you guys with good chips are getting them from.
-
Well, I know Monarch computer won't help you find a specific week/stepping... This is the e-mail I got from their sales rep:
Quote:
Due to the large number of CPUs we stock and the rate at which our
inventory turns over, we cannot guarantee a specific revision/stepping
CPU.

i'll give it a try...

still a no go on SuperPi...

OK now i'm really have some problems. After my last post, i turned off cool and quiete and did a few adjustments with a64 tweaker, and i ended up getting up to 250x10 @ 1.36v with ram @ 227 and 2.85v with like 3-4-4-8 something like that I stopped there because i couldn't find a good program to get past 250 (core cell's max). Well, today, i can't get CRAP!!. If i turn cool and quiete off in the bios, it wont boot to windows now. It first started out ass some flaky ness @ 250x10, so i tried some other ram ram settings. Then when i trie dstock ram settings @ 200x10 it would freeze if i brought the ram down to anything under 200. Then it froze when i tried to loosen timing, and also froze when i upped the core voltage by .05v. I'm using an MSI neo 2 platinum, 1.B bios. Unfortunatly my temps are kinda high, even with water cooling. 40 idle, 52 underload and thats right now at totally stock settings. @ 250x10 i was getting 42 idle, and up to 56 underload. I think my HS needs to come off, but i dont know if my problem is my cpu, or ram or mobo? so if its vpu i'd like to be able to send it back.
Any suggestions ppl?

I would recommend you buy a new board, preferably DFI Ultra D if you want to get the most out of your X2
A full spec of your h/ware and all timings/settings would also be useful :)

Nice, whats the stepping??
You should be able to get you Vcore down to ~ 1.4v @ 2.65GHz (I run my X2 day to day @ 2.6GHz with only 1.376Vcore dual prime large FFT stable)
-
This will probably be my 24/7 OC. I have had some problems so far max OCing this chip, but as you can see it has alot of potential. As you can see on the bottom right, idling at 32C now with Hyper 6, woot!

Certainly nothing wrong with that Bud, nice low Vcore too :toast:
All at a fraction of the cost of the 4800 X2 but with ~ exactly the same performance :fact:
-
heck ya, definately glad i didnt splurge.

im not exactly sure the 3800x2 at 2400mhz is the same as a 4800x2 at 2400mhz it would be interesting to compare the two. i just sold njkid my 3800x2 and picked up majors 4600x2 so im going to run bench marks at the same clock speeds i had my 3800x2 at with this 4600x2 and see just how much diff there realy is if any? what do you guys think you think the performance is the same clock for clock? im guesing not but hey we will see...
peace perc,

4600 is a 512k cache part so there will be no difference at the same clocks as a 3800+.
-
X2 4800+ 2days old week 25
-
well, although the 4800 has the larger cache, i am running 200Mhz faster. In most applications my 3800 @ 2.6 would be faster than the 4800+.
-
definetely much faster.
And what cooling is that under Pinhead?
