Don't get me wrong, I love what you guys are doing pushing these Winchesters to see what the processor themselves are capable of. . but you cant seriously tell me you run like this all the time. Do any of you guys use your PC's for gaming? I mean look at those memory timings...
Do you readjust your settings and get tighter memory timings (2-2-2-5 1T) for gaming or do you just run them balls out with the CPU all the time?

I'm currently doing everything with my 3200+ Winchester@245*10 1.55v and my memory on the 166 divider running at 2.4 with 2-2-2-5 and 1T. Solid performnce, plenty of memory bandwidth. I don't see anything wrong with that. I'd rather have the mem. bandwidth when it's time to game and load those maps...but maybe that's just me.

Well some of the screenshot's you see are Max bench stable and some may even be suicide screenshot's But some are 24/7 setting's and yes some of us do game at these speed's. :) :welcome:

well, imagine that yes...
we do use our PCs 24/7. maybe not always at what they can do at it's maximum but close to it.
My 3200+ Winnie can pass full set of benches on 12C air @ 2.76GHz... For everyday use, it's doing absolutely fine, rock stable, @ 2.67GHz, pushing TCCD clocks @ DDRDDR592 7-3-3-2.5-1T :) Docking (like folding), gaming, priming... whatever you throw at it it passes...

BTW... Welcome to XS and get your rig up to speed :thumbsup: Plenty of advice on how to do it can be found here :)

my previous rig was an Athlon 1700+ DLT3C running at 2.1Ghz with a all copper thermalright the size of a grown mans fist and a 92mm Vantec Tornado....after all the racket that thing made Ive decided to run stock..or...close to stock for a couple months. I'm going to replace the stock cooling, and get new ram soon enough.

I personally don't see the big issue with tight memory timings and games. If you're running your ram at those ballz-to-the-wallz speeds and you have a decent video card...you're not going to notice a damn thing when running 1600x1200 6xaa/16xaf at 127fps with loose timings or 140fps with tight timings...

point is...you're already over 100fps...nothing's going to touch you unless you just plain suck...

awesome, just got my cbbid 0502 in and it wont do 2.2 ghz regardless of the voltage... its just so awesome! Ebay for this bugger i think.

3000+ CBBID 0502 FPMW -> 2.4ghz (300x8) at 1.55v stable (box amd)

Anybody get a chance to test any newer CPUs yet? I'm waiting on a motherboard, but I just got two 3000+ 0507 FPAW.

Is running on stock at 1.18V, even can go on 1.1V, but...is bad (is secure for memory controlller)), is good?
Its Prime 2004 estable too.

Yep, me too, and with the Heatsink stock. But, have you tried reduce voltage on stock frequencies (200x10) at the minimun stable?. For example, i've used 1.18V, even 1.1V, and it's estable (SuperPI 32M, S&M, Prime 2004) but my question is if what i'm doing is secure, or my MC could die?

LANero...can you get your CBBID any higher than that with more voltage? Mine will do the same speeds with about the same voltage...but it seems to hit a wall at 2.65Ghz...even with added voltage. 270fsb and it won't even load the OS, it just goes into a reboot cycle right after the cmos backup.

Not with more not with fewer voltage, the sweet point of this seems to be 2.64 for benchs. I am going to try with Water closet to see if it gains something of mhz.

has anyone hit the wall with 1.7vcore only to do vmod and gain mhz at say 1.8v?

I think I've found some sort of pattern with my chip though. It'll do up to 2.4ghz @ 1.42v...after that it seems that I need .1v for every 100mhz increase. To hit 2.5ghz, I need 1.52v...2.6ghz needs 1.62v...and I'm not brave enough to feed it 1.7v to see if it does 2.7ghz :p:
