Go into Control panel, power options and in the active power profile you need to change the min processor state from 5% to 100%. Then it wont drop anymore. I can take a screenshot later when I'm home if you can't find it.

I think Z68 will be the occasion to drop that ASUS board...
It's not normal to have full load stability and light load crash while the cpu is always at full speed and vcore.
Dumb calibration or something, trying every setting just don't make it, and cpu needs a lot of vcore for nothing to get light load stability.
Try other LLC settings and c1/3/6 that's the problem ,i have it with my Pro board before, but now with Delux and different settings everything is ok.
You need to have at least 1.2xx Volts when idling to not have such kind of problems ;)
I've seen that LLC auto brings VCCIO to be too low, so I cranked up VCCIO and it improved quite a lot.
Now LLC auto brings too low voltage with light load sometimes.
I tried LLC medium and 1.38V manual vcore => drop to 1.32V with light load... and BSOD pretty fast.
LLC Extreme + VRM freq 350 and now vcore is [1.36 - 1.39V] for 1.38V set manually.
I hope this along with manual VCCIO this would be enough this time.
I can't believe there's a board that actually messes with VCCIO based on LLC.
That's just lame.
The GB boards definitely don't do that.
Sigh....Asus' great autovolting at it again.
You always have to set things to manual to avoid gotchas...been like that since socket 775 (back when Asus boards were killing X1900 XT's due to automatic PEG overclocking).
Lol that's pretty true. I had to vdroop and vcore mod my Asus Commando to have it working as it is supposed to, there was no LLC option in the BIOS and crazy vdroop which caused BSOD all the time, and bios vcore wasn't accurate at all compared to multimeter.
And that board made me burn around 10 kits of RAM even with low volts and fans. Thanks Crucial for great free support all the time, hopefully.
LLC Extreme + VRM 350 just didn't make it, BSOD all the way pretty fast.
I decided to lower oc to 4.5G for 1.38V manual... LLC auto VMR auto everything auto... If that doesn't make it I think I'm going Z68 Gigabyte next. Good bye ASUS, I'm done with it. :down:
If you need 1.4V for 4.5GHz I'd guess the board is not your problem.
if havenīt tested this yet, but doesnīt work for me @B2 board. had on the B2 board bios 1204 and 1305 and @both biosī the sleep mode doesnīt work. can try it a little later if u want.
Anyone know how 1401 compares to 1502? I just got my B3 replacement in the mail and it shipped with 1401 on it, rock stable at my old settings and my annoying random reboots seem to be gone. Not going to flash if I don't have anything to gain this time around.
I don't mean with PLL overvoltage, which never allowed sleep. But without it I had 0 problems in all previous BIOS versions, but on 1502 the board never wakes up: fans start spinning, but the system never restarts and I have to forcefully shut it down by holding the button.
for my 24/7 setting i donīt need pll overvoltage, so i will test the sleep mode right now. ;) had the same probs as u described on the rev2 boards. be right back :)
Anyone else having random boot issues?
I've got a standard P8P67 3.0 with 1502 and I get random RAID failures.
Drives are peachy and in a raid 0.
My B3 board shipped with 1502. It's rock stable under load with the same overclock as before. I'm using ultrahigh llc and manual vcore. Like you, I was getting random reboots (not bsod) at idle and sometimes at load folding with my B2 and 1204 bios. Now with the B3 and 1502, I've had 1 random reboot in the few days I've had it. So, B3 + 1502 hasn't fixed the problem.
I took my B2 Deluxe + 2600k under dry ice last night... I did nothing but fight the board and chip for like 5 hours. :mad:
I might have been running the chip a little too cold (-30*C on the base of the pot), but there was just a bunch of issues that no change in voltage could iron out.
Namely, I would get "random" reboots (without a blue screen) if I loaded the processor. I was using XP, so the chip was pretty stable to boot into windows (5300+), but any benchmarks = insta-reboot.
I'm still not sure if this is a board issue, or a cpu issue. I do however, want to get this board RMA'd some time soon so I can get the B3.
I also had random reboots, or BSOD other times.
I would blame the CPU and think it's a piece of crap if it wasn't stable LynXing or Priming @ 4.6-4.7 1.375V but it is.
So if you guys think that's not a board issue, what is it? CPU full load "normal chip" and idle junk one? And everybody else who have the same issue have lame CPU and magic board? :shrug:
y, are you using old matrix storage drivers? If you are, those could be the issue. RST drivers will fix this problem.Quote:

I had a similar situation , was at 5ghz @ 1.38 and the CPU had no problems with linx or prime95 running for hours ,
but would crash several times during basic activity like listening to songs in winamp , etc..
My thought is that this is a failure of the board , there are maybe some voltage drops while in idle every now and then .
Here the CPU has no problem on working at 4.8ghz @ 1.34v , I had linx with avx running for hours without a single crash ,
but it would crash regularly couple of times a day .
Had to run it at 1.355v to get it stable at idle .
