what kinda of rams are you guys using to get these crazy FSB?
lowest divider on DS3 is 2 and with that it's already ddr800 at 400FSB

I will use 2x1Gb Mushkin XP2 6400 reviews show them going up to 490-510Mhz.

dirt, do u mean mushkin with green heatspreader?

if yes, i'm using that one as well, and i can go up to 1080mhz with 2.2vdimm @ 5-6-5-15. 32m pi stable :D

this one rated at ddr2 800 5-5-5-15 but i can go (so far) up to 902 4-5-4-15 @ 2.1vdimm.

and this ram has no problem to boot at CL3 (common issue with this giga board)

act i planned to buy gskill HZ but then i was late and my supplier already closed the order.. so have no choice but to buy this ram from local store. and i guess i am lucky to buy this ram :D

ONCE AND FOR ALL SOAK IT IN ABSORB IT AND LEARN IT DOES NOT BOOT AT CL3

CPU-Z and several other programs are reading the wrong CAS timing.

i have proven this and so have several other people.

you guys are also linking to two different sets of ram.
one is the DDR800 Extreme series. (the link to the mushkin website)
and the standard DDR800
look at the model numbers. not the model names.

so which is it the extreme series that $300+ bucks or the stuff thats like 190 bucks at newegg ?

this board is absolutely not slow.
you are not reading what people are referring to.
people say its slow and are showing less than 1 econd difference in Pi times or a few seconds difference with 32m Pi.
that isnt slow. thats the chipset itself and the way gigabyte has timed it out.

the board isnt slow. end of story
your not gunn ahave slow booting or gaming or windows.
not any slower than your cpu/ram/video/hard drives can allow for.

I'm going with the 6400 and I was one of the main E6600 guys out there. Sad part is I have to RMA my RAM. I only have a standby 256MB of DDR2-533 LOL!

Slow??? No, the DS3 is crazy fast, when it works at all..

It took a lot of effort and persistence but I finally got a cheap-o Celeron 2.5 ghz to overclock 60% to 3.8 ghz, totally stable.

Ok, thanks for the information pals. Now second question; how much I can overclock with these rams on my signature? I hope that at least 400 MHz, that enough for me, so is that possible? Because I had really limited sum of money, so I had to choose these rams.

I can't get my E6400 to budge 1mhz on a overclock and I have done some thing mentioned in a post to get to overclock but no luck.:mad:

hehe i am referring to Mummo. The link he posted showed the same ram as in the link i posted. both are 996527.
and what Dirt means is the more expensive mushkin..

cuz for every kid that comes here and says its booting at CL3 10 other people look at that and wonder and miss out on a kick arse board.

not only that but the bloody gskill rep had the gaul to say the same thing without any proof or provication to the statement. he made an assumption based off nothing more than cpu-z and the fact that the ram doesnt boot.

i hate it when people cant read thru 10 different threads around here that clearly show/say that the board is NOT booting at CAS 3.
and then they post crap about it.

sheesh i'll chill out when people learn to know what a forum full of usefull threads is here for.
if fugger didnt want us reading all the other usefull threads posted by the great people around here he would delete them. you yourself have posted useful info. wouldnt you just get tired of people asking and saying the same stuff daily if you had several threads showing your info and yet people just blindly refused to read the thread and went right to the end and posted something that was answered pages ago ?
and yet day in and day out people here are still spewing the same crap about the board booting at cl3.

This might be a bit off topic from the CAS 3 thing, but I have a quick question on loading XP with this board. I've been an AMD guy forever, but am switching over to Intel in the morning and am trying to get everything in order before I swap out components. I have 2 hd's and 1 sata dvd-rw. I only plan on plugging them into the Intel sata ports. Will there be any drivers that I will need to load at the F6 prompt? The only drivers that I can find on the cd or the Gigabyte website are the ones for the GSata ports and not the Intel sata ports.
Please, be gentle, for I am very new to anything Intel and am trying to get up to speed very quickly. Thanks for any help!!!

Thanks, that was plenty gentle, really appreciate the help. Hopefully by tomorrow evening I'll be up and posting my results here. My new waterblock will be here by noon tomorrow, which is all I'm waiting on. I set the DS3 up on a test bench with my new E6700 and 2x1gig of Corsair. I goofed off in the bios for a couple of hours, flashed it to the newest here (F4C or something like that) and had no issues at all.
