I find the best voltage on high end air and water cooling on these around 1.5-1.6v. Anything higher is risking it without heatspreader off. BTW, also in same token find about 52-60c to be where any benefit stops.
what seems to be the better overclocker so far, the 3800 Toledo with half of the cache cut, or the Manchester?

if you have a similar setup with cpu and memory and board, please let me know what your bios settings are. I can't get mine up to 2.8G stable no matter what. i think it's definitely the memory controller that's faulty. i can run 2 instances of prime95 at 2.7Ghz for hours. at 2.75Ghz, 2 prime95s will fail within 30 mins. here's the weird thing. when i first got the cpu, it was core 2 or cpu1 that was failing prime95 at first iteration. now core 2 seems to run prime95 fine and core 1 or cpu0 fails right away. i guess 2.7Ghz isn't bad, but it would be alot nicer if it's 2.8Ghz stable. i've tried vcore from 1.55-1.67. i might go higher, but i'm afraid of frying a $500+ cpu.
sounds like maybe a memory timing is a little bit off and making your cpu upset - post your full memory timings or an a64 tweaker shot so i can see what you are running and maybe make a suggestion to try and get things stable for you...
worse case scenario you run a divider and i bet your cpu will do 2.8 (dividers are not a worse case scenario btw - affect performance very little)
my memory timings are pretty on auto, but here are the timings i have in genie going down the list:

i've tried the followings:
11x250 for 2.75Ghz
11x255 for 2.8Ghz

Nice :clap: Try large FFT's, I have ran smalls for hours and still have it crash in some games, also can you include your timings, Vcore, Vdimm etc in your screenies, its a great help to a lot of ppl :toast:Quote:

Also, the ultimate test of stabilty, played frozen throne with 12 groups full battles on god mode and all cheats to keep the battle going everywhere all at once for 3 hours. zero crashes. :woot: unforunately, I can't dual that either, so.. whatever.

Just thought I'd say hi and show mine. I'm working on hour 18 of 24 hour Dual Prime95
CPU temp is hitting 50 - 52. Chipset is hitting 44 and cpu is rolling along at 280*10. I had to stick a Vantec Tornado 92 mm on my CPU cooler to stay down there and I changed out my 80mm chassis fan for a Vantec Tornado also. I use a 120 in three 5.25 bays to suck in lots of cool air and keep my dram happy. I ran Super Pi at 2860 yesterday but OCCT was unhappy so I backed off to 2800 for the Prime run. I am absolutely sure that it will do it. Noisily of course, but at least on air. Yeah I was fat and happy at 2700 until I kicked my Vcore to 1.568. This board is lovely. Don't worry, I really had to loosen my timings too. This was 6th BIOS that I tried, starting with 623-3 and going through the 704 series including 704-2BTA.
I got the idea of loosening my timings on this forum and that was some good info.
umm yeah i know????? thats why i wrote it in my previous post.. that is the stepping..
however there is a post around here somewhere that refers to the stepping code..and i believe it refers to where the parts where made.. it was assembled in Malaysia...
anyway anyone have any info on the stepping week???

P = name of production place in malaysia, i think it was a town name (all venice+ have 'Pxx)
J = hour of production
W = something to do with batches not being mixed...
this is just vaguely what i remember from OC Detective, he remembers this stuff for sure.
