as you can see, the block fits perfectly with the power connector in place and all i did rearrange the zalman socket retention peices (upside down) and used custom bolts, effective :woot:

Thank you for the response. Is that Zalman watercooling the Socket 479? Why do they name these Socket-478's? I see you went and got the Musketeer too. There's a story behind the one I have which make's Lord of The Rings look shallow.

Hi kamerat,

Do you need to cut the hsf in order to be used with ct-479 or you can use it out of the box ? I noticed you use the retention clip that comes with CT-479 hsf, is it correct ?

Any difference between SLK900U with SLK900A with SLK948U ?

I didn't mod the heatsink, but i modded the adapter, soldred the power wires directly to the adapter. I don't use the retention clip from CT-479, but those who I got with the heatsink. Think the SLK900A is the one only for socket A and SLK948U is a newer version of the SLK900U with better motherboard compability and socket 754/939/940 support.

Seems like a smart plan, less space used up by the molex (? or is it berg?) connector.

What are you using as a shim? <= My main concern.

Very clean job. Soldering the power connector is a nice simple way to get a "proper" cooler towering above our Dothan's :)

Foam seems to be a winner! :)

hi there guys, ive got a 1.5 2mb dothan cpu (400fsb), im running it on a vdroop + vdimm modded p4p800-e deluxe mobo...

and i jus cnt seem 2 get over 2.4Ghz no matter wat the voltage

i mean anything over 160fsb and my system becomes unstable instantly, altho its stable @ 15x160 = 2.4 with about 1.52v .........

so im starting 2 belive that its somting else holdin me back and not the cpu?

ive tried 2 disable turbo and i still get the same results

also there is a option in the cpu section of the bios, i belive its called "cpu vid" this is set at "62" .... should i change it? of so 2 wat value?

Solder it with wires outside from the ct-479, then you can still use a big heatsink

It is looking line 400fsb dothans are maxing on the fsb between 160 and 170fsb.

When i get a 533fsb 1.6 i will test this againts a 400fsb 1.6.

Im gunner grab some dothan stuff real soon. Some questions though.

Whats the best dothan to buy for air use and maybe some DI action in the future but air 24/7? A 1.6 dothan?

The P4C800-E dlx the best board to work with?

Where can I get an adapter from?

i cnt bloody seem 2 find the site again now..... and i wanna order 1 2moro :(
