Woof woof...
The 6970 sounds like it's going to be a beast of a card at a good price. I'm glad as this will bring the 580's price down even more so that I might consider buying one. Having said that, I might actually just stick with the 480 I have right now as it runs pretty cool and quiet with the customer cooler and a good overclock for everyday use.

AMD Radeon 6900 series - something to bite into after 13th of December?
As of today, the NDA lift for information relating to the AMD Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6970 will be the week of December 13th. We will be providing additional information on these products, including the exact date and time of the NDA lift along with samples in the weeks prior to launch.
This is direct from AMD - get your paws into it and start saving those dollars for just another month now!
December 13? Damn, I don't know if I can wait that long. I was hoping for some price drops from Nvidia, not happy.
Oh...seems like a familiar pattern. maybe not.
You missed the part where they're apparently getting this form Shane Baxtor
Heh, no. I wanted to give the 580 a try, but $500 is more than I want to spend.
Maybe I'll just pick up a GTX460, or dig out some of my oldie cards and use that, I'm using IGP right now. :stick:
Background? Sorry I've been out of the loop on these things until lately.
Slightly more credible than Charlie/Fuad but often writes/presents things in a similar tabloid fashion and has been off quite a few times
Problem is... if release dates are usually under NDA, why the hell would this be posted directly? Doesn't seem to quite add up
Thanks for the info. Yes that makes sense, you're under NDA so you can't talk about the release date unless the NDA states you can.
We'll see if other sites report the same thing (not just parrot what Shane Baxtor is saying).
I find it funny all this speculation of delays coming days before launch.
If that info is false, then that is really low. Who wrote that? It's worded to sound like it came directly from AMD. Gotta be an email or something from AMD, I can't believe someone would falsify to that extent.
Well, if under NDA, they can't confirm or deny it... which boggles the mind even more as to why he'd go ahead and say it
That's why this doesn't make any sense.
If AMD told him directly, he was under NDA (otherwise every other website would be saying so) - in which case this shouldn't even be out. And he's one of the reviewers for TweakTown, so he definitely understands what NDAs are for, so it's even more confusing
So it's funny. After AMD released the slides and confirmed Cayman is still due for Q4 2010, we get:
Nov 22 from Chinese sources
Nov 29 from Fudzilla
Dec 13 from Shane Baxtor
Hey everyone, lets all speculate dates as well and put it together in a pool!
huuuum... while it look official .... the way its made look really doubtfull...
I don't think it has to be petty - it can be as simple as having something lost in translation. After all, if he's under NDA and reputable, he knows that release dates have been under NDA so why would he say this is direct from them? That's what doesn't make any sense about the situation
why would the tweaktown guy make that up.
slipping the schedule a few weeks is not unusual. it sucks for them because this is the absolute worst time of the year to slip the schedule. but it is not unusual.
Its official information, Cayman delayed to week 50 (13-19th of december). According to Sampsa. He said that no reason for delay was given, but assumed that DrMos component shortage info would be accurate.
They better not delay it. Or Hittler will get Angry.
