Hey all,
When I set +.5 in the BIOS (which is supposedly 2.3v) it's read as 2.18 in SpeedFan. Has this issue been addressed already? I've watched this thread pretty carefully but I could have missed something. :)
Also, I don't have a multimeter right now, but I can and certainly will get one. Until then, where do you measure VDIMM from on this board?
Thanks in advance!
TSFroggy, My rev1 board did this as well. My rev2 board does the opposite, setting 0.1v higher than what I choose.
Just do the vdimm mod with pencil to get what you want, and it's all good. I tend to like 2.0v as the baseline. Then, +0.2v is all I really need for day to day use.
Thanks ziddey! I really just need to make sure that the reading is accurate. After reading Tony's warning about pumping volts into DDR2, I don't need to end up with two fried sticks of $400 memory. :)Quote:

Ziddey are you using the Buffalo Firestix? Saw your review on newegg of them lol.
There's no way elipda chips will run 3-3-3-9 @ 800mhz or 4-4-4-12 @ 1000mhz..
Yeah, mine won't anymore though. I don't know what happened
I can tell you what happened. You used them in a DS3/S3... The board has killed two of my sticks already running stock voltage... (elipda sticks..)
does the dq6 also overvolt memory?
one more question.
i notice the dq6 has an extra 4 pin molex power connector on it. why and when would you need to utilize it?
I am confused about something. There are options to add onto the MCH, and FSB voltage. Yet neither the manual or the BIOS state the stock voltage.
When I set it to do +0.2v to the MCH, what am I setting? Is that 1.75v? 1.45v?
Your best bet would be to get out a DMM and measure it yourself. Stock specced by intel is technically 1.2v. However, with the settings on my ds3, it's all over the place, and I've seen 1.8v even.
as nub as it sounds, all I can measure on the thing is the 12v rail and 5v rail. I have no idea where to start looking for the northbridge voltage. :(
If you look at your board with the slots at the south and the cpu up north. Look under the x16 slot.
http://sg.vr-zone.com/print.php?i=3870 there has pictures for a rev1 board. For rev2, the configuration is changed a bit, but you can still find the point to read. It's basically, the middle leg of the mosfet on the right (there'll be two next to eachother. rev1 has them 90 degrees, rev1 they're the same I believe). Measure the middle leg (snipped one) to ground. Careful not to short to a neighboring leg, or it'll spark and clear out your date/time
Hello Guys,Quote:
after changing to anything from Auto the system resets in POST before mem testing.
Cannot change fsb because system resets as above.
Any update on this recently? I got an S3 with a Leadtek 7950GT, and I can't overclock as long as I use the DVI output of the card. I'm frustrated, because with a DSUB adapter it works, but I don't wanna sacrifice display quality for this motherboard to work normally. Do we know that is that a problem of only Gigabyte mobos or the 965 chipset? If I have to replace anything because of this issue then it will be the motherboard, not the VGA...
I'm using the latest BIOS of F8, but tried several earlier versions with no luck...
Thanks for your answer.

How is the new F10 Bios vs F4 ?
Thank you
That's weird. have you tried raising pcie to 105 or 110? or maybe bump vpcie a notchQuote:

Im using Speed fan 4.29 but still cannot decrease the speed , somebody give me an idea ?
Hi, http://forum.sunflowers.de/images/smilies/halloha.gif
I'm having a warmboot problem here. After Windows shutdown all I get is black screen. All the fans are active, HD's are buzzing but nothing else seems to happen. After I unplug the power cord and let it 'cool down' for a while it boots ups normally. I'm orthos stable for hours and when I get Windows up and running it works like a charm. Any ideas?

K So these are his specs.
We built the thing, had some issues with the silly front panel connectors, but resolved that and it booted. In his eagerness to OC, he didnt install an Os , but instead upon booting when into the bios and Ctrl F1's. To the MIT . He disabled the proper sets, and then went to do a mild over clock, i think fsb at 355mhz, ram timings 5-5-5-15, ram voltage 2.1, mch +0.2, timings 2.0 set. And the proc, i think 1.45v; Basically a simple setup to start with. So he rebooted after the settings then, for some reason his dvd drive door wouldnt open, but the light was on, so we rebooted again. And then it got stuck into this permanent pulse. The fans spin, and the blue led's in the P/S pulse but bios wont even boot up. So... we started from the bottom, disconnecting one periph at a time, changing the cable arrangements, bootingwithout a vid card, jumping the bios, removing the battery for a minute, jumping the bios again, the only thing i cant do, because we dont have any 240pin ram lying around is change the ram.. but i dont think the ocz, comes stock at 2.0v... correct me if i m wrong. But i cant try booting with different ram atm. So aside that any suggestions as to what the problem could be, i ve checked every power connection etc.. they are all fine. I know he should have installed vista (its a gaming rig, and he wanted dx10) and @bios'd it first before overclocking, but ive made the same mistake before on a ds3 with no problems, and if i did, it would just restart 2 or 3 times and the dual bios would kikc in... so i m not sure what to do now.. does this mean both bios are somehow corrupted?
Hey guys, i have a question about Easy Tune 5 for DS 3 (ihave original rev. 1) Anyway My cpu can do 3.4 only with 1.57. Now i only need 3.4 for FSX where those 400mhz really really help. I play that once/week. The rest of the time i'd like my system to be at 3000mhz which is stable at 1.34 My comp is 24/7 so i need it to be at lower clock 95% of the time. So the real pain in the butt is to switch clocks between. Takes forever to manually do it in easytune 5. I wish there was a save button to save different settings so you could load them/apply. is there such thing and im just missing it? Is it possible to use any other program out there to adjust FSB/Voltage of CPU?
really need this as i've been doing it for past 5 months about and its really getting to me.. So annoying. Wish i had a better chip that would overclock with low vcore. But i got a chip that needs a high vcore + it doesn't go over 3.4 even with 1.6 vcore. I have good water cooling.
Thank you in advance.
I can't say for et5 but there is a special setfsb released for the ds3. You can use that to switch fsb's real easily, and iirc even setup shortcuts to pass flags to do it push button style. It can't do vcore though
Easy to do. Press F12 (i think..) in the bios to load the different profiles ;)
As for your problem gnos1s I think you just need to reset the BIOS. And if that doesn't work, trying turning it on then press the reset button a few times. If you have a speaker hooked up, if its beeping at all it would help to know.
