I was being a little sarcastic, everyone knows Ivy rocks :D

Alvin, what chips are used on your PI Black kit? Hyper or BBSE? Hyper won't be your best choice for IB. Can you post a picture of the kit?
I saw you asked in youngpro's thread if someone has tested the TridentX 2400 kit, yes, there is a thread by PcCI2iminal in the Xtreme Bandwidth section. Those should treat you well too.
Having fun with Ivy without IHS, waiting for retail CPU (I don't wanna go to pro :D ):

So relaxing, benching at full pot, no coldbugs or coldboots, mobo boots every single time :)
Nice! :D
How about another 32M? ^^
Warning :SPAM!:D
If any of you guys need a break from benching here's a good use for any 24/7 capable machines you have..

Ok, thats my spiel and I'll leave you in peace now!
Thanks
Dave
@ G.Foyle: did you had any gain popping the IHS ?
Dunno, I removed the IHS to test OC on air. Never tried it on subzero with IHS. On air - no gain.
Here's the conclusion of my article, translated by google's robomonkeys:
http://translate.googleusercontent.c...rt49727-3.html
Maybe on water or with select HDT coolers you would have a small gain, but in usual conditions it's very dangerous, creates lots of problems and doesn't help at all.
HDT isnt good at all. it doesn't have heat capacity like a normal venom cooler.
Thanks for the kind words guys :)
HDT with maximum heatpipes and minimum 'dead areas' wouldn't be very dangerous since silicon itself is a decent heat conductor. Vapor chamber would be the best of course :)
HDT for example..you have the small die area...you won't be able to utilize the heatpipes that doesn't touch the die.
With the plate from for example venom, heat will be spread on the plate. hence "heat spreading". and sandwiching plates lol
Stil have a "gem" Intel yonah:D

man you truly are XIP :D
damn I wish I had someone to tell me if this retail is any good. Gfoyle's clock is awesome I just would like to know what your guys air or h20 clocks were before you got your containers on. I'm new to all this. also I see all of you on some shamino bios with all these RAM tweak settings for bbse, ic specific. I cannot see those setting in my bios> do I need to run Ln2 mode to get those settings or is it a specific bios you are on?
I found this MVE guide on youtube but I can't get the bios setting right. I got up to the beer part and after that it gets really cloudy.. I can't remember what you set after the beer. I hit del key after post but I end up getting some black and red screen bios except I can move my mouse in it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-xN4...ature=youtu.be
@ transam: download Shamino's guide: http://www.datafilehost.com/download-1636169b.html
You need to set ln2 mode to see additional options in bios.
I tried one retail 3570K, and it was the crappiest IB ever made: CB at -120, -140 after tweaking :( Wouldnt even be stable at 6 GHz :( Time for another chip.
Should Z68 be okay with Ivy?
I tried Maximus IV Gene-Z and on basic untweaked settings it was even slightly faster than MVG, but i heard max multi is limited to x59 on Z68.
I heard x59 is max multi on Z68 as well. :yepp:
@l0ud_sil3nc3: Good start with IB!
Well that's a shame.
I may as well just get a cheap P67/Z68 board then for Sandy. (Will be my 24/7 gaming machine, selling AMD faildozer)
A guy near me clued me in on a local store with a lot of used 1366/1155 motherboards for cheap, and I found a 57x 2600K.
Should be enough CPU power for low end HD4850 and HD5770s.
Someone knock Arisitidis down a few points quick!! :D
Wow!!

This is awesome!
Aristidis just dropped a few Ivy bombs on your parade but it's still awesome
Don_Dan here is some of that 8-10-7 magic you requested:D

and I just realized I forgot the SPD tab:doh:
Nice chip
I'm pending to buy 57x 2600K, seems I'm always a generation or a few months behind...but it will be my 24/7 chip too.
Will attempt to try Ivy this summer, but I need to buy a dewar first and they are really hard to find for cheap.
I hope my STT Hyper work with it, they do 2133 7-7-6-19 32M at 1.77v on AMD Bulldozer.
Going to grab a M4E/Z to clock those hypers?
if they are good they should work fine, I know both my STT kits did not work with SB as they were not good enough (2000 7-7-7-21 & 2200 8-8-8-24) and would not run the 2133 divider, however I have a set of decent 2000 7-8-7-20 Dominator GT's and they run flawlessly with P67/Z68 but I have not tested them on Z77, too slow:p
I don't think I have enough money for M4E/Z, I might have to go with a cheaper board. I have a mid tower case too, not sure if E-ATX fits(?)
My 3x2GB STT 2000 7-7-7-21 absolutely smashed my 2200 8-8-8-24 which I actually traded with ZenEffect (Sorry ZenEffect :p:) for PSC that ended up 2500 7-11-7-24 on faildozer, but he could just barely get the Hyper kit to do 2133 8-8-8-24 on SB. My PSC should do 6-10-6-24 past 2200 with SB though, so I need to see which is best (if Hypers work).
None of my Hypers out of the 10GB I've had have scaled with tRCD = CAS +1, and I can run tRP = CAS -1 at almost the same frequency. 7-8-7 MHz = 7-7-6 MHz...
Just bought 57x 2600K and MIVE :)
Show some results when you get your new parts!
Not much activity lately.
We're losing team points!
wooohooo Warzian!
You finally posted in the thread.:welcome:
Hey team,
Anyone interested in my SS unit, Cascade unit, CPU Gemni pot, TEK9 6.66 Slim, or Fatboy pot?
Looking to clean out my collection since I'm not OCing.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ up on the test bench, took 4 hours to get it working, I had forgotten that my nforce 5 board has 2 bad memory slots, and that I had flashed a bios that only works with Phenom II CPUs. Installing my nLited XP right now :)
I always wanted a SS...don't have the money for one though.
How much for the TEK9 slim? O_o
Well, 5600+ hit 3.76 GHz on first attempt, with H70 rad in a soup bowl and about 8 ice cubes melting on the top of it. (Brought temps to 28c from 38-40c)
I'd imagine that my CPU is capable of 4 GHz+ assuming I don't have a super high coldbug.
To my understanding, not many K8 do 4 GHz+ unless your name is knopflerbruce so we will see how far I get with this.
I had major issues with Pi efficiency too, OS is fine (personal cut OS based off of TinyXP), ran same OS with 955 BE in 32M with good efficiency. My hard drives are just fubar, one being a Seagate 7200.10 250 that is full all but 30GB (has personal data/backups on it), the other being an Intel X25-V that barely outdoes my USB3 flash drives. I don't have the money for a spare disk.
Hi ALL
Now I have a new rig =)
Maximus Gene V
Core i7 3770K
ADATA XPG Gaming V2 2400 Mhz 4x4GB
ADATA SSD XPG SX900 128GB on RAID, using 8 SSD (128GB 9260CV-8i each SSD).
RAID Card LSI 9260CV-8i = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816118168
I have some troubles and I need your help (specially Steve xD)
1.- The RAID Card doesn´t work in the PCI-E 16X only in the PCI-E 4x but half of the card is out, check the picture, Do you think this affects the performance of the 8 SSD?
Attachment 127084
Attachment 127086

thanks guys
^^ i would think that might be a bit low yes.
I haven't played with LSI cards in years - your best answers will come if you post a new thread (include your happy snaps) - here -

Gah, I can't get ram to do 32M at 2133...tried vccsa up to 1.15v, tried vccio up to 1.175v.
After loop 1, I get NOT EXACT IN ROUND...CPU at 4.6 on stock cooler (1.3v), max temps mid 60c with 2 cores enabled HT off.
I couldn't find the top mounting bracket for my H70 so I'm stuck with this for now.
Hypers booted up past 2200 8-8-7 no problem too, but 2M up was instant freeze, 1M no problem.
You guys have any tips? I can barely POST at 1.65v 7-10-7 too...currently using 1.7v to be on the safe side.

vdimm for hypers(class b) must be over 1.8v but its not guaranteed to work with sp32m. better hypers can handle the throughput
Tried up to 1.8v, best I got was init value...CL8/CL7 makes no difference, I guess.
Why my PSC can't do 2133 either, I am puzzled...I haven't finished a run of 32M yet. I have trouble getting the board to post even with PSC at 2133. and vccio at 1.2v.
asdfsadfioutbh5.
Sorted out PSC. 6-10-6 works at 2133, albeit with 1.8v
What do you guys think?

EDIT:
Alright, so my Hypers work at 1866+ 6-6-6-18, but that is a little slow :( My Hypers do not scale with tRCD = CAS +1 either so 6-7-6 is a no go near 2000 with more bclk.
My run was 6:46.625 with Hypers at 1866 with CPU @ 5 GHz but cas write latency was at 8.
EDIT 2:
Next run with hypers 1866 6-6-5-17 cas write latency 7 was 6:44.375 with maxmem + 512MB pagefile + waza, but still slower than 6:43:968 on PSC, which was done without waza
EDIT 3:
Either my OS is FUBAR/trash, or my tweaking skills are weaker than tinfoil...
2133 6-10-6-24 cas write latency = 7, came up with 6:45:187.
This is a far cry from the low-mid 6:30's I've seen at 5 GHz. I feel like trans am does in the Ivy 5G thread...
Also, Hypers are a no-go. My best two sticks that do 1866+ 6-6-5 won't budge even to the initial value in 32M, tried 7-7-6, 7-7-7, 8-8-7, 8-8-8 up to 1.86v.
which bios are you using? I think hyper degradation indication is sp32m becomes non-doable.
vccio?
newer bios for m4e has microcode for ivy bridge which some say introduced some latency.
I'm also doing m4e with some sandy.
BIOS 2050, I bought this board from Gunslinger and thats what was on it.
1866 6-6-5-17 is fine at 1.84v, but 2133 8-8-8 doesn't work, tried up to 1.86v. These are my best two sticks (out of my three), too. I don't have them labeled like I should have, but because of that, two of the sticks have significantly less use than the other...I've tried a combo of all three though.
At 7-7-6/7-7-7 the best I could do was 3 loops of 2M. I can finish 2M with 8-8-8 and 1.85v...but 32M is still instant freeze. I can do 7-7-6-19 in 32M on Bulldozer with 1.79v.
I've tried vccio up to 1.2v so far. I've also tried raising vccsa up to 1.175v with it to no avail.
I need way more vdimm with PSC than I thought I would too. On Bulldozer, my PSC run what they are specced to do, on Sandy, 2133 7-10-7 won't even post at 1.65v.
EDIT:
On ASUS's website, I see that on bios 2001, it is listed as "support next gen 22nm processor" so maybe this bios contains early Ivy microcode...I suppose I can flash to something else.
psc xmp works here. maybe that is bbse. bbse needs more vdim that psc
I know it's not BBSE because I can't run 6-9-6 for sh*t. 1.85v, 2133 6-9-6 doesn't post. These do 2060 6-9-6, 2500 7-11-7 on Bulldozer though...
My Hyper runs 1900+ 6-6-6-18 in 32M at 1.85v, just tested.
Efficiency is still in the toilet, I've tried 3 different bios now.
2133 8-8-8 boots at 1.61v...but SuperPi 2M won't pass over 2 loops , at 1.85v it passes 6-7 loops.
EDIT:
Black slots are the same. I did something magic in the bios I guess once because on the black slots I was able to complete 2M once. Can't remember exact settings but it failed 32M as soon as I clicked. I tried 99 bclk at DDR3-2111 too, 9-9-9-27, but it doesn't work either.
3203 so far is very bad. but better than msi z77 lol. switching cpu now....
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5...5/3b51cd41.png
@ Beep try lowering vccio to 1.08-1.1
you should be able to complete 32M easily with PSC at 2133 7-10-7-27 with less than 1.7v, something is not right unless your chip has a really poor IMC.
I did, recently. I was just pushing vccio because I was having such issue with Hypers...I think it's the IMC thats the problem with the Hypers, not the ram. I know it's a combination of both, but...this ram isn't bad at all. Been tweaking 01 a little, reinstalling stock large option TinyXP now to see if my OS was the issue with 32M efficiency.
Do you guys think 1900 CL6 has anything on 2133 7-10-7? I can run 2133 6-10-6 / 2220 7-10-7 with PSC though.
Update:
Nope. I can't even post at 1.7v 7-10-7. 1.75v won't run 32M either. I have the Pi 2133 7-10-7 1.65v...
EDIT:
Works at 1.775v. VCCIO @ 1.1v...
Efficiency is still sh*t, 6:43.500. Stock TinyXP with maxmem, olive theme, 512 pagefile and waza. Maybe it is my SSD but I don't have a hard drive to test with.
Okay, I can not muster any more than this...no idea what is wrong.
Stock full TinyXP, 512 pagefile, olive theme, 600 MB maxmem, 2GB CDT-IV waza, realtime priority/2nd core affinity.
Attachment 127145
exec bit disable?
I had the same results 6'42'ish, tweaking rams got 6 seconds off...
The Ivy "ME" code introduces 2-8seconds lag on Sandy 5Ghz Sp32m. If you get the older board with the older "ME" and the older bios, using the older bios with tweaked memory. You could do sub 6'36 with those settigns.
The second bios on this board is 1404 and it was the same efficiency...
Exec bit thing is enabled, just turned it off, will try again.
EDIT:
O_o okay, problem solved...6:35:750 with 2222 7-10-7-24 CWL = 7
Also ran 01 tonight, didn't do much tweaking, LOD = 3.1 all, run order change and 5150 MHz CPU / 2200 CL7 ram, HD 4850 @ 800 / 1110. Came up with 99145.
Nice to see you working hard on your new setup Beep, don't waste too much time with the Hypers, if they don't work in 32M @ 2133 no tweaking will help. I'm really wondering why your PSC need that much voltage though... Weird.
Do you have some BBSE you could try?
it doesn't have the xmp profile. one subtiming could be asking the vdimm to be raised.
No, just this and my Hypers that don't work. I have RipjawsX 1600 C6 I could try too, some say those are good for 2133 CL7-10-7 on Sandy under 1.7v, but they were considerably worse on AMD than my Pi kit. Hypers don't seem outrageously slow at 1900 6-6-5. Maybe with a different chip they would do better on the 2133 divider. (Maybe I'll save them for Ivy and get a ram pot to pull off something somewhat spectacular)
My PSC have XMP profile at 2133...but I can't run 32M. Luckily I dont' have a problem pushing 1.8-1.85v as long as I have a fan on the dimms but I wonder what it does to the IMC in the long run.
if its the pi series. the xmp applies vtt = 1.6v. that xmp is for older chips.
Hello fellow XS HWBot Team members!
Sadly I have an extremely limited budget when it comes to benching hardware. But I recently managed to grab a super cheap 2x2GB Crucial Ballistix kit (BLT2CP2G3D1608DT1TX0CEU)
(http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/part...D1608DT1TX0CEU) and I was wondering if anyone had any idea on what ICs it might use.
Here is a quick picture:
http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/...ian/hgfgfh.jpg
I haven't dared removing the heatspreaders on the sticks yet though but I hope it might be possible to figure out anyways.
I'm also curious if someone could help identify the ICs on the kit I used in my last benching session. Probably the worst kit I've ever used and I'd advice anyone to stay far away from it.
I originally bought the kit for a LAN-computer and not for benching, but it was sadly the only spare kit I had. When I bought the kit it was the cheapest 8GB kit available in Sweden and it probably still is.
The kit is called "TED38192M1600HC11DC 4GBx2" and the DIMMs are called "TED34096M1600HC11". It's a Team Group Elite 8GB 1600MHz CL11 kit.
Here is a picture of the ICs:

Sorry for the huge pictures by the way!
You can run Memtest86+ and it will identify what/which chips they are.
here is corsairs presentation of how to use it http://www2.corsair.com/training/how_to_memtest/
Wait. What? Can Memtest identify ICs? How does that work exactly? Never heard about this function in Memtest. Is the IC information coded into the SPD? I thought IC information in general was shrouded in secrecy and was something memory manufacturers kept for themselves? What is the point of, for example, http://ramlist.i4memory.com/ddr3/ if you can just read the ICs of Memtest?
The videos you linked contained no mention of reading ICs from what I could see? I am very confused now. How do I do it in Memtest exactly?
What do you guys think would be faster at same clocks, 6-11-7 or 7-10-7?
Because it looks like I can run CL6-11 higher than 7-10 on Sandy Bridge, even though I know that my ram goes much further on 7-10-7 than 6-xx-7 on any other platform.
I haven't tried 32M yet, working on 3DMark 03, but I'm currently at 2260 6-11-7-24, and I can't run 7-10-7 at this frequency.
1. for quick ram stability test, try pifast 4 times.
2. for quick latency & bw use aida64, and take screenshots for future reference.
3. too much vdimm indication: insta off lol
As far as I know Memtest can't identify ICs, it just reads the SPD info.
Are the memory sticks single sided? What can your kit do? Crucial is probably using Micron D9PFJ chips on this kit, just like on many other kits that are currently available.
This kit is hard to guess, I think all of the markings on the chip have been made by TeamGroup, and none of the original markings are left. What can this kit do?Quote:

Sorry for the huge pictures by the way!
Tweaked for 8 hours today. Also attached a Corsair H70 to a 2600K with zipties.
It was a lot better than the stock cooler.
backplate from KPC +koolance rubber gasket is the ultimate setup. it works with pots, water blocks and air coolers.
Koolance rubber gasket?
I have the backplate...
Zipties don't work that well, at least not the ones I had. I had to use four of them, two attached to each other, and then I had to cut them down the middle to get them through the mounting holes, but they still latch. Puts no pressure on the mount, but it keeps contact.
I'm able to do 5.4 in 3D now, better than 5.2 before but it doesn't seem to help anything but '01 which all my runs were horrible. My first run was the fastest, and I didn't save it, go figure.
I was surprised how little '03 scaled with CPU. I had a really good run twice (63K with 5770), but now it seems my GPU's memory has gotten tired...artifacts at speeds it ran for the first few hours. 3 / 4 runs was low 62Ks...
the gasket is between the plate and the board. its insurance for my case. the msi z77 has a rather long solderjoints on the inductors. i use the backplate for all my boards.
hack saw...@ big lots is cheap less than 10? check walmart too
6/32s threaded rods at home depot..i think its 4.99
brass 6/32s knurled nuts @ homedepot or acehardware...
combined with Kingpin's awesome plate(soon to be copied by others lol) is my favorite setup. kudos to vince
yeah a top plate is necessary. or some waterblocks have top plates that have large enough holes for the threaded rods.
I guess I could mount the pot on top with a gasket under...not sure if rods would be long enough and it would look funny though :p:
lol. pics :D

Nice work l0ud_sil3nc3!
Go George!
Go l0ud_sil3nc3!
...I have a little bit of a dilemma.
There is a certain LOD 10+ that gives good 01 nature for me on HD 5770, but it kills other subtests.
With setLOD I can change the LOD with 01 is open but it has no change. I also tried the registry directly, and no effect unless I restart 01.
I tried ATI Tray Tools but tray tools is POS software... now that I have uninstalled ATT/driver and reinstalled, what can I do to get LOD changed for each subtest? :(
@beep
time is up, on the way to the airport now. sorry
you can change drivers for each subtest...credit to lab501 guys
Having huge issues with '01 efficiency, tried every LOD from 1 to 12 in half steps, still 50-80 FPS behind in the low tests compared to chew*/other runs at lower speeds...nature was great though, 20-30 fps above most results on HWBOT around same clocks.
I had 380K in Aquamark too but my screenshot got corrupted. I had it on my flash drive, but I'd saved a .BMP...so on my Ubuntu Linux lappy I converted to .png to lower filesize. Then I noticed that the middle half of my screenshot was unreadable and part was chopped off...
Got 5742 MHz CPU valid on air, don't think I will gain anything for valids when cold, chip was sold to me as 5.76.
Who all is benching for the Team Cup?
I'll be benching for SC4 - AMD K8, K10 and VISION. If I can get an LN2 dewar and get it filled by the end of June, then I should do pretty well there. :) 955 looks strong, will test on DICE this weekend, looking for 5.8-6 GHz. I know my 5600+ can do 3.8-3.9, probably 3.7 for 32M.
I'd do K7 too but I only have a 1600+ and pretty crappy motherboard and generic DDR.
