hi guys!
First of all sorry for my english;)
i would like to improve the oc of my 2900pro 1gb.
At stock voltage (1,1v in 3d) i can get about 880mhz/1100 in bench and 850/1100 in games.
With atitool 0.27beta8 i can't save modifided voltage in the oc profile because when the card switch from 2d to 3d it returns to default or 1.1v
In internet i have found quantum force 2900 bios editor so i modified my bios improving voltage to 1.25v
After flash i got black screen even if changed dvi port.
I tried to backup the original bios and after reboot the card didn't function , always black screen!
So i decide to change version of atiflash and i remake the flash using the Xt 1gb version !
Now the card function very well but i would be able to change votage because i would push my core over 900 stable.:D
I'm under professional watercooling
My temp on stock voltage in full mode are under 43°C
Take a look over here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=165389
oh lawd what did I do?

Seriously, how do I fix my crossfire?
Ok so my Sapphire 512mb 2900 pro turned up a couple of days ago, and it turned out to be a 256bit version! Sapphire don't even list a 256bit version on their website!!
Even worse - can't get it stable past 755Mhz on the core (mem OCs to a respectable 1080Mhz though).
Rivatuner says that the vGpu is 1.08v so perhaps this is limiting the core OC. Is there a bios version that I can use to raise this? It stays under 70'C at load so I assume there's enough headroom to play with there.
How much did it cost?
It cost me $269 NZD
To put that in perspective, a 3870 would cost me $409 NZD, and an 8800GT would cost me $408 NZD.
So it's still pretty good value. It outperforms my old 320mb 8800GTS (which would now cost me $325 NZD :p ).
Oh, good, you didn't get screwed.
Other than a new bios theres ATI Tool (buggy but the only option). What does yours idle at btw?
it's not set up at the mo but from memory it idled at 58'C at default fan speed (33%?) and 51'C at the next step up (37%?)
the fan is unbearable over 40% o_O
ok so I'm trying AtiTool 0.27b4 but I can't see any voltage control options? rivatuner also won't let me open the hardware monitoring page.
this is on 7.12 drivers btw
Updated:
W00t, with some more tweaking i'm at 940mhz :p:

And still benching.
How do you get the voltage to stick?
I use an 1.3v bios. I can run the card on 935mhz for only 10 seconds on this card, so i have to set the needed voltage in about 10 seconds for i get a black screen. I will try an 1.35v bios, but i still have to bump the vgpu to 1.45v to bench on such speed.
Is'nt there a bios with a default 3d voltage of 1.5v or 1.6v?
Max i can find is an 1.35v bios, but i need way more then that
Hey guys,
Once again I come in search of the answer lol.
I'm using Vista and XP dual boot, I would like to use ATI Tool in Vista, but I have activated Overdrive and it keeps its settings no matter what other program I use. Cant find a way of disabling it.
The bad thing about it is that it does not set up clocks for windowed Crysis, it keeps the 2d clocks, so I have to keep it @ 1680*1050 and lower things...
I just wanted to disable the damn thing, I have looked around and found you need to disable ati hotkey poller, but it does not show up in Vista and the only service related to ati that is running does not allow me to disable it...
Might as well use DX10 if you can for Crysis, even with some fps decrease, but I would rather play it windowed on high or very high settings than medium at fullscreen...
Has anyone come across the answer? I just ask myself... Why did I enable the thing?... lol
behave!
running in windowed mode always uses 2d-clocks...
only switching to fullscreen 3d enables the 3d-clocks.
why do u need atitool? do u need more than 1.35v on the gpu?
there is a trick to get all the dx10 goodies in dx9 mode in crysis.
Thanks for your input mate.
Overdrive is very conservative... I can only get 900 mem max, and I know from XP that my card goes up to 1000 easy, that is one of the reasons I wanted to use ati tool. Other would be to use voltages (I dont want to flash my card yet... as I'm not sure if I'll keep it that long) although I know they're buggy on ati tool.
Also, I know about the tweak for Crysis in Windows XP, but its not dx10 (how can XP use an API that does not have?) so I dont believe that some effects will come through from Vista to XP. So the talk of ppl saying that it runs faster in XP with very high settings than Vista would be of course true as it does not process some (hardware demanding - I know cause in dx10 I cant have the same GPU speed I have on dx9, have to lower to about 750 GPU) DX10 features.
If you can enjoy dx10, even in a primordial stage of what it could be, you might as well enjoy it and leave dx9 for 3dmark... lol
Behave!
Im new her but thought I would share a STUPID moment:D
After reading alot in these and other forums about the 2900pro being able to be flashed to XT speeds I started looking around for one.Your not gonna believe this ...I found one for 179.00 can. So being excited and wanting to crossfire my existing XT I ran out and bought it,got it home and flashed it with an XP bios. This killed the card after trying everything to bring it back to life I happened to look over at the box it came in and my hart sank when I read 256 bit. I managed to exchange it for another one.(didn't tell them that i flashed it)
My kids now own that card and I still run a lonely XT:eek:
I have O/C the pro to stock XT speeds and realy dont see much difference between 512 bit and 256.
Im just waiting to see how you guys can make these faster maybe through bios or other means and for the price maybe buy another and x-fire:D
Currently O/C to 750/950 7.12 driver stable----memory doesn't seem to be a problem It will go higher but not much in return
I used AMD GPU tool for O/C and run with six pin on card trid with 8 pin and no diff.
Any ideas would be great ( I don't mind trying stuff)
OOH that's good to know I shouldn't flash my 256bit with a 512bit bios :P
