I never had problems with my XBX2 in BIOS using a PS/2 keyboard and USB mouse. I have an external 250GB drive but it has its own power supply.
no problems with the usb. USB mouse/kb, usb keys, external HDD
The only freeze I got was with earlier bios

So is the general conclusion without me having to read this whole thing, that the XBX2 is a great board for sub 500Mhz FSB.
I enjoy overclocking, but I don't do anything real crazy. I have less than satisfied with the P5B. I am more into stable, high quality components than flashy / attractive components.
I am mainly looking for a high quality board, future proof, with plenty of BIOS options, RAID support, and convince.
Is the XBX2 for me? (I have also owned a P5W DH - loved it)

Tossing this out there so we could perhaps isolate this problem to a specific board revision.

(Personal experiences and opinions follow).
I have no problems with my 3060 up to 388x9, all voltage stock except vcore at 1.375 (1.325 is stock).
As for stability, ease of use, and general quirkiness - this board has been the most reliable and least quirky board I have ever owned. Every feature works like it is supposed to, hardware is mapped correctly etc. I have yet to run in to a situation where I track down the cause of a problem and the answer is just "that board just does that."
If you are going to be running e6600 or above, I highly recommend the D975XBX2 - for an Allendale I'd probably go with a 965 based board.
NOTES:
The board does not unlock multipliers afaik for non x chips.
I am aware of the Everest (and Sandra, SpeedFan reportedly) vcore reset issue - it is the sole quirk in this board of which I am aware; I do have faith that it will be fixed eventually.

I also feel that this is the best board for E6600 so far, and possibly the best board I have used on any platform. Intel boards have always been very conservative but rock stable, this one has that legendary stability, and it overclocks pretty damn good too :) I like the look of it also, I'll take the plain jane monolithic NB cooler than the POS bling bling on the Asus boards.
I haven't hit my long term OC yet, just started the process over with 2333 bios but I think I am getting close to stable at 410 now, had to change to 333 strap once I passed 400FSB.
