Ok re-try this without the 2nd ide master in (cause I don't need this hdd) the uguruclock utility will come up with an error saying "can't create tray icon" everytime I bootup, which is kinda annoying wouldn't you say and I don't really know why its doing it either.
anyone got any ideas?
So, you have on IDE #1 a HD as master with no slave. On IDE # 2, you now have just a DVD ROM on that IDE port (without the HD). Correct?Quote:

If you have the jumper on slave or master, try setting it to CS and use the primary connector on the IDE cable (or, use a single device cable). I believe the newer IDE controllers don't like Master / Slave jumper settings - they tend to work better with jumper at CS. Also, even with CS, sometimes the IDE controller wants a single device connected with the primary plug of the IDE cable.
And that someone is me :p:Quote:

anyone tried the new bios? the enthusiasm for this board seems to have whaned a whole lot. oh well.
My cpu temps seems way off, im running an AN8 ultra, 3200 venice (1.65 vcore) with a dangerden h20 setup. At idle my temps are showing 32C but within a few seconds of load it rises to around 50C and after a few minutes of prime95 hits as high as 59C. Ive felt the water block and it feels cold to the touch. I have refitted the block 3 times with the same results. So how far off are these temps likely to be or is it possible the IHS isnt fitted correctly.
its a week 19 cpu and maxes out at 2.5 gig with 1.65 vcore which was a big dissappointment which makes me wonder about the IHS contact.
My temps are reading opposite, 28-30C full load, don't know about idle since I'm always folding. With the previous bios the cpu was around 40C which sounds more realistic considering I need 1.65v for 2.6ghz with my winnie.
Still only have up to 3.4v for the mem, haven't tried to see if the 1T issue is still there.
My enthusiasm hasnt waned!
I just got tweaking this puppy, and it is sweet!
I am stuck at 240 fsb dual prime stable on a 4400+ running VX memory using bios 16.
i heard bios 15 was better, but after 5 mins of tinkering with in bios 15 it corrupted windows and I had to reinstall.
So now im back on 16 and I am ultra stable and can tweak and tinker to my hearts desire without repercussion.
It seems liek my CPU needs more VCORE, 1.65 the max? Is that too much for this CPU?
hehehehe....it's you....i know you..hhhehehe good work buddyQuote:

I'm running my mem's a 233.5MHz @ 1T, but as i've said i haven't had trouble with 1T before either. Maybe when i go higher i will have trouble, who knows.Quote:

edit: forgot to say i'm running the 17 beta, couldnt wait :p:
Meh I can't wait to play with the Ultra The suspense is killing me so I got weak and bought a cheap PSU(Not really that cheap more for servers) 500 watt Athena power so I can power it up with my sandy and x800xl till i pic up my x2 4200 and 7800gtx.
So far rig consists of
Abit AN8 Ultra
Seagate 7200.8 250gig(my programs drive)
WD raptor 36gig(windows boot drive)
Athena 500 watt PSU (28A 12v single rail)
BenQ D/L DvD burner
Thermaltake Tsunami Case
all thats left is an X2 4200 a 7800 GTX and still havent decided on memory as It seems alotta people have trouble running 2 gigs on this board
u bought the psu but you still cant set it up yet? should have just waited for a better psu.
nah the case Im using is the current one but the current PC is going in a new case thats arriving on friday. And I can always borrow my ram cpu and vidcard while swapping out parts to give the an8ultra a quick run :)
has anyone test for 1T instability...someone that's had problems in the past :D
^^ must be talking about me :PQuote:

I gave up on the AN8 SLI last night and put my DFI NF4 back into my gaming rig. After 5 hours of playing with the Abit I had enough. Besides boot issues with it turning off before it even posted, when it did post it wouldn't keep any of my OC settings :( hehe
I did manage to OC in windows with it, but even that wasn't very reliable sometimes it would take the change in HTT and voltages and sometimes it would just lock up or crash.
Please, Please let me know when a "good" bios is released ! this board has a ton of potential and I'm so tired of tweaking the DFI. I really want a new toy !! I'm even considering the Asus A8N SLI Premium to play with. Had the first version and was a good motherboard other than the 1t issue (sounds familure), with more Vcore I would get the Asus in a heartbeat.
wonder if the Abit aped the Asus' design. Even the name is similar and easily confused.
i think you guys are forgetting the 3.55vdimm here...that's the main selling feature of these boards.....Asus is awesome...i want to get the premium too but will probably have to voltmod to get the vdimm and vcore i need :(Quote:

you have an FX CPU :D sweet....and the vcore you are using is fine....asus only goes to 1.55 but deluxe was slightly overvolting for me to 1.57 or so......Quote:

my timings are 2-2-2-7 @ 1t stock fsb.
I'll try 2.75 tonight, does the dfi or asus have these types of problems with samsung tccd ram? Cause my ram previously passed memtest86 for 12+ hours on my msi k8n neo2.
would the asus or dfi have these problems? the asus a8n premium has slightly better voltages than the previous model, 3v vdimm and 1.65vcore max. Its a shame its £125 here and the place I would want to buy it from is out of stock
increase vdimm to 2.8v and above? why stop at 2.7?
im not stopping there, its just annoying I have to keep raising vdimm to get stability with the ram on this board, with my old board it ran stable at 2.6v. Its at 2.75 now, I prefer to do things in stages :)
anyone know where I can get occt?
edit: well I just ran aquamark 3, and at the end of the benchmark run I got Termination: Exception_access_violation, I heard its related to a cpu or memory problem?
Any benchmarks I can use to determin if the cpu is faulty?
edit #2: seems as if either my omega drivers are the problem or i need the aq3 hotfix. :)
oh and how accurate are the temps on the abit an8 ultra w/ bios 15? Cause atm mine under load @ stock hits 50-53c, I put my hand on the xp-90 and it wasn't at all warm.
