read it again.......LN2 people cant hang with the -260 crowd......didnt say LN2 = -260.

No mistake, you can take it the way you want as long as he got it.........cause you know Im just playin with ya:D
before this thread goes way offtopic
Chew heres 32m for ya.....wish I would have ran it when I did my 4.2+ghz runs

Like someone said earlier in this thread. You guys should make a new Pi thread so we can see all your runs in a table.
It's great to see AMD rigs getting such great times.
Maybe a 1M table and a 32M table? Sure would be nice to see :)
What voltage you pushing to get HT up to snuff, My board gets flaky with 2400 and higher takes forever to boot...
hmm I don't have HT voltage in bios :ROTF: no wonder why, oddly i duplicated your settings and did poorly.
I think I know what it is, my ram is in bank 3/4 furthest from cpu......due to heatsink, have a good mount atm so it will have to stay that way for now......

4242.16 MHz at 1.52V air cooled with TR IFX-14 with 2 fans Scythe Ultra Kaze@3000RPM.
For now it's stable on 3.8GHz 1.456V(that are my 24/7 clocks), but I have the feeling the voltage can be reduced to something like 1.4V or even lower.

I have a lot of benches done with the cpu, I'll give some if needed.
Thanks for the good words. :) Now I really have stimulation for more bench sessions(when I saw several results here), but I don't have the time right now and it's pretty warm here. If the temps drop to -5/-10 degrees I'm sure the CPU can get another 100-150MHz. :) Now it's nearly 5 and the validation was made also on around 5 degrees ambient temperature.
Try with 2 or even with 1 memory module.

Same.
Although I thought the IFX-14 would be inline with TRUE, especially because of the IFX-10 (back plate cooler) since a lot of people dont want to use it. Cant blame them, finally got everything installed, put it on my motherboard tray then to notice you cant use the slide-in function anymore because of the IFX-10:mad: Nah, wasnt happy about all that.
Anyway, Im wondering what Ive been able to do with a TRUE since that OC is very close to my results. I think slightly better cooling would have gained me a bit on the HTT bus which would make me sit on 3.75 or maybe 3.8Ghz (seriously, 3.75~3.8Ghz was almost stable). That was on 1.485Vcore, but my board has this fancy feature to drop 0.014V under load, making it an actual ~1.471Vcore. Still worse than Stuen4y's result, just curious how it would have been in combination with a TRUE:rolleyes:
But, in about a week or two Ill have 4 times the surface for heat dissipation than Ive now (going to an EK Supreme Acetal block with TCF X-Changer 480mm rad), Ill just keep my current Vcore and see how much clocks might increase because of the improved cooling. After that Ill just put a 1.55~1.6Vcore on it and see where that brings me for 24/7.
I thinking of buying some cheap Athlon 64 X2 processor and selling my 940, and then buying another one. I think I have the worst overclocker here.
What do you guys think? You think maybe a future BIOS might help or that I should just dump this loser? Plus, I'd hate to get another 940 and find out my motherboard had some sort of defect.
ehhhh who knows what is to come. as we all know sb 750 had ACC which helped fix bad ocing phenom Is. something might come later that would give better overclocks. if you don't lose much money by selling it and getting a new one then go for it but even that doesn't guarantee that you will get a good one.
mine is pretty bunk too comparing to the rest of the chips here. it needs 1.45 to run 3.6, then some ACC to make it completely stable.
i have another 920 that i haven't even tried yet, in another copy of the 790fxb(i RMA'd one that burned up),and am waiting for a PSU to come in the mail before i get it running. if that one doesn't clock decently, i'd be inclined to point the finger at the board. but then this is the board that was used in AMD's liquid helium runs, and it clocked my agena's excellently when it wasn't busy frying them.
im seriously considering picking up an 805 with a AM3 board to try that once it's out. i probably wouldn't feel that way if my current chip clocked as well as others have.
No, it definitely doesn't, but I got a real good chance I'll get one better than what I have now. I would be losing a lot though, I paid the original price for my 940, and I'd have to undercut the current price to get it sold.
I could consider a 945 though, if it's Black Edition.
Well if you have the worst then mine is 2nd worst, I need 1.475 for 3.6 stable of a cold cold day. I would have water cooled it if I would have thought it worth the effort to set it all up but I really don't think my chip has much if anymore left in it.
I plan on keeping mine, I'm not sure its worth the hassle for me personally just to end possibly with another chip that does roughly the same OC give or take some mhz. Maybe after there's a new stepping or time for process tweaks I may consider it.

That is with 2 akasa fans on 5V.
I'm not using the backside cooler, cause my case is with down placed PSU and there is no place for it, besides that the mounting kit for AM2 is awful(I mean you can really benefit from the IFX-10, because the whole cooler is not tightly held), so I'm using my default aluminum back plate from the DQ6.
Yeah, honestly I'm looking at maybe an extra 200MHz at the same or slightly higher VCORE (current OC in sig) with a new chip. Already it's at 20%, which is noticeable in realworld. Really it's just the disappointment of it all. I have the worst OCing 940 here, and it's the worst OCing processor I've ever had (I always had at least 35% OC), and I saved up over two months to get it (with the whole computer). :hitself:
But really it's not worth it. At the best I'd get like a 30% OC. Meh.
