Hi! Ihave a pair of Sapphire HD3870 512MB TOXIC, and i have checked on VGPU-mod on a non TOXIC card and there are not the same soldering point as the red card.
Could someone that know the point and mark them out for me, and if i can use the same vrpot as the red card..
This is the usual HD3870 512MB
Core Clock 777 MHz
Memory Clock 1126 MHZ GDDR4

chefnr1, layout is almost the same. You can use DMM to check the points that are connected to pin13.

Thank you ceemic! all spots and pin13 that you marked red for me are show 5.10K even that spot i marked yellow., so i think i can use either 2 of the spots at the wright side on the pic and i se that the yellow one seems to be easyer to solder on.
And i think i can use VR-pot 100kOHM to get the volt setting..

chefnr1, that yellow is also connected to pin13 or is it GND?
The yellow have the same value as the redmarked and pin13, so it's not GND..

So they all have 5,10kohm resistance between GND? Then 100k VR works fine.
Yes thats right 5,10Kohm on all, so i think that 100K VR should work.

When i run at 1000Mhz gpu was set to 1.5v..
Hello everyone,
I have 2x3850 Gainward non-reference cards from post 924 in this thread, and i would like to squeeze most out of them in CF but i need same help with two things:
1. Can't remove Overdrive limit. I have tried everything but no success. I get higher values but when i try to test custom clocks activity stays at 0% and testing screen is testing indefinitely. When i try other bioses as well as ones Renegade and DoDo1 where talking about i get the same thing.
2. I would like to do pencil voltmod and vmem mod for now and afterm my warranty expires i will do solder mod. Here are the pictures so if someone can tell me what to do. Thanks :wave:

After posting i found out on some Russian site that this Gainward is identical to Palit, so i force-flashed 3870 DDR3 bios into both of my Gainwards and they work on 780/950 setting :D. Overdrive max is now changed to 830/1000, not quite what i want but i'm much more satisfied then before.
With little help from monteboy i found feedback pin for BS-9M as well as VMOD points.

Unfortunately my Gainward died last night. Vmod and vmem were successful as i had it going at ~930@1,44V for core and ~1070@2,05V for memory. I was benching it for more than three hours without any problem. It was cooled with VF900 and with heatsinks on RAM and fets. Core temperature was around 85°C while doing 3dmark05 and 3dmark06. power fets where very warm but not hot at all. After, what i thought was a successful overclock, while i was playing with fan controller in RT i got thin black stripes on gray screen. I turned off computer immediately. When i turned it on card was completely dead. RIP:(
I believe I still have my folder full of 3870 BIOSes that I modified in my OC folder, I'll check when I get home from work.
In the meantime, have a look through TPU's VGA BIOS Collection.

Meantime i flashed this one, working flawlessly...

I sent you an email at the address specified in your PM with the two IAX BIOSes and the PLL fix BIOS. You had said you would upload them to a fileshare server and post the link or something along those lines.
