Thanks for your answer. I will RMA it. :)
Hey all,
Seriously on the verge of pulling the trigger and getting this board as a replacement for my NF4 Venus but, first a few questions.
1. Is any RAM more suited to this board than any other? I have G.Skill at the moment and am happy with them but, I realize that different boards have different preferences.
2. I would like to use at least 4G of Ram, is the board stable with all four DIMM slots used?
3. Would I be better with 4x1GB or 2x2GB, is there any noticeable difference on this board?
4. I currently have a Storm and would like to reuse it on a Q6600 along with my MCW30, is the MCW30 compatible with NB/SB and if not what can be used if anything? I also have a spare MCW60 if this can be modded to fit one.
Thanks for any input regards the above.

Has anyone tried using the NB heatsink and a thermalright ultra 120 extreme on the LT version? I don't want to be caught with my pants down when i put my rig together.
1. If you are referring to the ram currently in the Venus it won't work (DDRI). The X38 requires DDRII.
2. The board is stable with 4GB of ram.
3. Right now for 4GB it's hard to beat the G.Skill PC2 8000. Performs well with this board and $115.00 at NewEgg.
4. The Storm will work however it's not the best block for a quadcore. Better off with an Apogee or Fuzion. The MCW30 fits the NB.
Thanks,
1. I was referring to Brand-wise but, np... :)
3. Is that the PQ series, if so, then that was exactly the kit I was looking at however its nearly $200 in the UK but, thats still a relatively reasonable price.
4. Yeah I realize that the Fuzion is a better suited block but, for the extra $$ outlay (selling the Storm 2nd hand and getting a new Fuzion) is the temp difference going to be that justifiable? Also what fits the SB, if anything?
Thanks again

It is the PQ series.

You already have the Storm so no harm in trying it. Can always switch it out later if need be. As far as the SB i don't know. Haven't had a need to consider watercooling it. I do know the Enzotech CNB-S1L heatsink fits it. Had one laying here so stuck it on.
i was thinking about getting that kit too. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...atid=8&subcat=
might aswell upgrade my ram aswell :D unless my crucial work ok @ a reasonable oc
Not really a need for more then 2GB unless using a 64Bit operation system. I haven't had much of a chance to do anything with the sticks I have here. They will do 1080MHz with a touch less then 2.0V though. That was without tuning the clock delays.
5:6. Parts of CPU-Z look messed up because it has issues with this board and Vista. A couple of entries have to be disabled in the ini file.

^ thank you for that.
I noticed that on my setup too - I did this...

a very important question to me:
What is the highest FSB on this board before the ICH9R starts to crap out with HDDs in AHCI or RAID mode?
