I know this has been posted before somewhere. What bios settings do I need so my vcore-temps go down when the cpu is not being used much? Spread spectrum or what? I've went into the cpu options and enabled "cpu tm function" and it still wont throttle itself down one bit.
I do understand that its not as stable but I would like to give it a shot instead of idling at 50c. Sure thats not bad but I rather idle at 29 :) any helps appreciated

Actually CPU-z reads it correctly up until you pass the 1.45V in bios. Then it can get ify will read right up until the idle or load voltage goes past 1.45V then it reads incorrect.
But its software readings, best way is to use a DMM to measure the voltage.
Actually, my experience is the exact opposite...CPU-z reads 1.2v no matter what the vcore is until I get to 1.5v, at which time it starts to read about .06v low, but it starts to scale up.Quote:

i bought a P5B deluxe last week (rev 1.03G) with a E6600 (L629)
I tried it this week with a pci card and i was very impressed (at least with superpi) ;)
today, i decided to install my X1900GT
well, it started nicely : impossible to boot with the GT card
back to pci card, flash with last bios (0711)
very hard to boot but well, it booted (after some strange restarts) after putting in the blue slot my old GTO²
i did some test with 3dmark 01 and i did 35k with 550/630 graphic card and E6600@ 3.2GHz. was rather good (normal) to me
anyways, i put back the 1900GT card and once i was in windows (so lucky !), i ran a 3Dmark 01... I found the fps being quite low, even after a slight oc of the graphic card
and you know certainly what I found with cpuz after : PCIE blocked to 1X :/
I tried everything i read in this topic and well, you may have understood : nothing worked :/
my first intel rig (after 6years with AMD)... god must hate me :(
I hope asus will release a better bios ASAP as i'm starting to lose patience ;)

I tried to go back to 3.5 and the freakin board is Fudged again!!! WTF?!!
I cleared the CMOS, let it sit there for 10 min, and nothing...it just does one of two things:
1. Boots up with fans running but no POST
or
2. boots with one long beep followed by two short beeps, repeatedly.
nothing I do works!!

I downloaded 0711 from ASUS website and went to install it through Asus update in Windows.
It said "Erasing EPROM (or whatever the first one is) and then said "Failed, press next to try again or exit to abort". So I pressed "next" and nothing. Several times and still nothing. I had no choice but to press exit to abort. I did so and downloaded it from another location. I went to go into ASUS Update and it said "CANNOT GET BIOS INFO". So I couldn't re-flash.
I reset the computer to try to reflash or use the EZ Crash Free Bios 3 that came on the ASUS CD..... No boot up at all.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! - Is there any way of sorting this?

this forces the board to default and will post if its from overclock error.

Well, i have updated bios in windows several times, and no prob at all. I think, that is much easier and faster.
If it doesn't boot, it s over. Your only option is to RMA it.
But , why did u reboot, u had to knew that bios was corrupted......:fact: :slapass:
If i were u, i would buy DS3 or Tforce, those boards are also good.

in the bios of p5b dlx, u can set the sub timings for ur memory,
do u guys let em at 10-10-10-10?
Who knows a memory timing programme where i can check all my timings (not everest).
And, what exactly is vFSB termination, never heard before Core2duo.
Updates to 711, and reboot issue has gone!! :D
Still does it after settings change but i can live with that.
well....we have an AMI bios, not IBM, and there is no 1l/2s beep code in AMU's list. The IBM one shows that as a video error, but I highly doubt it as I even changed cards and same thing.Quote:

My computer is now running rock solid on 7x470mhz. Could my power be to small?
Asus pc probe shows this:
Vcore 1.32v
+3.3 = 3.28v
+5 = 5.04v
+12 = 12.20v
Cpu = 42c
MB = 30c

My G.Skill 2gbhz PC6400 (400MHz) @ PC7552 (472MHz) running on 266 SPD timings (4-4-4-10) ,
it somehow works stable at 2.1 V :woot: . (got error at 2.05 )
It could also be a limit , not every dimm can take too much voltage.
I have tried higher timings but no help from that. I have also tried only with one memory module but that makes no difference.
Should not Corsair TWIN2X1024-6400C4 work with high voltage? They are rated to 2.1v and what i have read so people use them at 2.4-2.5v.
As I couldn't do anything. I said earlier that there was nothing I could do. It was just saying "CANNOT READ BIOS". I couldn't re-flash or anything.Quote:

2.2V or higher must not be a problem. But you never know,
if u have tried everything, i would send it back, it could be a bad revision (guess).

Can't u just send it back to ur reseller (shop, where u bought the mobo)? Because u just have warranty (unless no bill?)
