That argument has more holes in it than I care to address in this post. But I'll toss out just a few.
1) Core 2 is fast enough that if Intel wanted higher prices out of them they could have simply released them at higher price points. AMD simply cannot compete on this performance level right now and that leaves no price pressure at the high end.
2) If I have a customer that does BILLIONS of dollars of business with me (oh, say like DELL), I'm going to give them first dibs on any new CPUs I come out with. So of course the retail channel is going to get them later than everyone else.
3) You guys DO REALIZE that the final revision of Core 2 (the b2 stepping) hit silicon just 6 weeks ago, right? That's not a lot of time to stockpile chips. Right now, Intel has 3 fabs making this chip, and one of those three is currently being transitioned from Yonah production to Core 2, so it can't possibly be expected to be at 100%. Furthermore, the 4th fab that was supposed to be shipping these soon is in the MIDDLE OF A FREAKING WAR ZONE (the fab is in Israel for those of you with your head in the sand).
4) Let me go just one step futher and point out that on top of that, Core 2 is being split to 3 different products - Server (Woodcrest), Desktop (Conroe/Allendale), and Mobile (Merom). NEVER in the history of PC computers has a company used ONE DESIGN for all 3 platforms and launched them ALL within one month of each other. That is a huge undertaking.
So with that said - GROW UP, have a LITTLE patience, and FOR PETE'S SAKE TREAT PEOPLE WITH SOME RESPECT.
You will get your chip (and I'm betting sooner, rather than later)
