Anyone seen gaming benchmarks for PM and A64 when both runs at max FSB and speed?
Look in Macci's thread in the Xtreme 3d forum. Theres some good comparos.
HI after a fews tests on my Pm 750 with P4P800 VM
_ Always disable the thermal protection on bios (this shutdown the pc at 1786Mhz with stock vcore watercooling and on idle :D)
_Occt doesnt work to valid Oc dues to probably a bug (i've tested all bios option's and it fails on stock speed :S)
My P4P800 SE was DOA :(
Expecting RMA in a week or so :hrhr:
Fun benching sucky platform though...
->
there is a new bios for the p4p800-vm
p4p800-vm bios 1017.001
dont know what it does yet but will find out later.
After i blew a p4p800-e playing with the ct-479 and dothan i picked up a 2nd hand p4c800-e deluxe lets see how long this one works.
I have found a strange problem with a p4p800 after flashing to p4p800-e 1007.003 and going back to p4p800 1021.003 the bios sets the vcore to 1.568v and as there is no vcore options in the bios i cant change it. It wont let me change it in windows either this is only a problem as i am using the p4p800 as a htpc and want to use crystalcpuid to control the vcore and multi based on the %cpu used but it's stuck at 1.568. If i go back to the p4p800-e i can lower it down to 1.5v only.
It could be all the crap i installed testing so i am doing a fresh install to see if that fixes it.
It would be a good way to get higher vcore without the vidd mod.
So far I'm not having fun :(
I can't boot up at 12 x 200... and in windows I freeze every time at 165ish... even when I lower multi/??? This sounds like a problem I've read about before...
Oh and it's p4c800e-dlx and 1021
C
Possibly my 730ES "acts" like a 400fsb part? I just can't get it over 165fsb!!
C
That's exactly what I was thinking when I read your post. What stepping does cpu-z show, B1 or C0?
YUP, you read my mind.
:(
Extreme Bummer!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...chmentid=31397
now a WHOLE 3 day weekend with no CPU to play with :(
ANd NO local store carries Sonoma's.....
C
Here's the issue I believe.
When Intel cranked out 533fsb Dothan ES, they simply enabled 533fsb support on-die. It was the same exact die as a Dothan 400fsb. The Sonoma uses the revised C1 die and VOILA! Support for 200+ fsb.
This is what I get for trying to be CUTE and grabbing an ES chip.
C
That's just great! I can just throw Sonoma away when I get it!
I suppose it is worth checking at least. Should be here Mon or Tue.
Hallo guys! I hope, somebody help me.
i have 1.6 Dothan + P4GD1 and have big trouble with this.
I cant boot from my Pata Hdd.
When i reboot i see bios screen and than on the left over flashing cursor with black screen and this is all.
I mean is bios crashed?
I try download him, but i cant connect to asus ftp :=(
Did you flash to a Bios that supports the adapter before putting it in?
yes 1005.
Still cant get crystalcpuid to change vcore but i sorted the bios out by putting a p4 2.8 in there and then the dothan and all the vcore options came back so i can run at 1.3v all the time and drop the multi down to 8 when cpu load is less than 5% upto 12 when between 6 and 60% and 16 over 60%. Speed fan is monitoring the cpu temp and will increase the fans if the temp goes over 45 all working very nice.
My p4c800-e deluxe arrived DOA so no m730 fun yet until i get then replaced.
x.treme did you use the /n /pbnc to program the boot block when you fashed to 1005 just a thought.

Charlie
B1 stepping Dothan isnt good ocer at all
try some C0 core ;)
leejsmith: Im a little confused, so how i have a flashing?
Must i use the parameters /n /pbnc to program ?
Bios from asus.de ftp >
Warning: This BIOS can only be flashed with
the following flashtool versions
(or higher versions) !
Do NOT use older versions !
ASUS LiveUpdate v6.05.01
ASUS AFUDOS v2.19
FINAL = beta Status
1005 = 1005.007
what you saying sonama is rubish or good?Quote:

C
How to tell the stepping off of the chip?
in CPU-Z it tells you...
Here's my B1 chip!

I have P4P800-X and I think to buy Celeron-M,but this mobo is not supported.
Can I use bios from another mobo ?
than all fsb533 cpus are sonoma???
Sonoma is the platform that supports 533FSB, Carmel only supports 400FSB. 7x0/C0 stepping are the ones to get.
My Dothan hits 267 Charlie. I know I'm nitpicking. ;)
well, every 730/740/750/760 is a C1 right?
Yes ;)
well, i was warried my 740 was a B1 :D
and guys, i have ordered a boxed one, because is the only one i found...what the hell is the boxed coler in this pakage?
there is NO boxed cooler :DQuote:

It looks like I misunderstood Charlie's message that I quoted. I thought he said his is a Sonoma (C0), but it is a Dothan (B1). I am 99% sure (who on eBay can you really trust?) mine is a C0, but I won't find out until tomorrow or Tuesday when it comes in the mail.Quote:

Is it C1 or C0? :D
Are all ES chips B1?
This is my chip here
Need to get another adapter, bent pins on the one I recieved.
Yes I know I can straighten them. I'd rather not risk a processor that I spent an entire paycheck on, with it. :D Plus the whole RMA process takes too long and is a bit of a hassle. Quicker to order a new one.
Need a power supply and some better ram. That Value Select stuff won't do.
B1s are 400mhz FSB and C0s are 533mhz FSB. Click here to see.Quote:

My 730ES is an exception, it is a B1 chip with 533fsb operation enabled on-die... but it's still a B1 die, and OC's like one
It was made just for testing and validation on early and pre-production 533fsb chipsets.
C
what would be an A2??
Please, where is the glue? This thread needs to be stickyfied!
So what is the sSpec for that chip? This way people can stay away from it! ;)Quote:

It overclocks ok anyways, 2700MHz on air apparently to the pervious owner iirc.
Just need a board for it. CT-479 coming in a few days :D
yeah, 1.6ghz 400fsb chip (16 x 100) will do 16 x 150 easy... like 2400mHz... and with 1.5v, should do 160-165....for 2600-2700mHz.

Im not much of a modder myself, but do you guys consider this pic to be adequately clear?Quote:

can we get a conclousion on which board is best ? which allows vcore ?which biose ?what overclocks best ?and which one has ddr vcore adjustments ?and ias i see it the 725 cpu is a sonama 533 fsb which would be a better chioce right?
The 725 is a 400MHz FSB, thus not a Sonoma...Quote:

Still awaiting my RMAed P4P800 SE so cant really help you with the other questions...
i think this picture for Vcore mod for P4C800 is ok .Quote:

I'm in the same boat as Stryg. I got my rig started with the P4C800-E DLX and yanked my 3.06 out of my HP. Using some XMS and a FSP Blue Storm with a 9800 pro I get NO POST. I've done everything I can think of and read 4 forums for help, but it still isn't working. I know everything but the P4C works properly, but it could be a proprietary CPU on HPs behalf. I think the next step is to RMA the P4C.Quote:

CT-479 arrived today. Its one very well engineered peice of kit.
You know the u-wire mod in the CT-479 socket, what voltage does that set the vcore at?
Waiting for my P4P800 SE to arrive, should be here friday :D
You can get up to somewhere around 1.72v via the pin mods IIRC. I think the highest you can get with a single u-wire is 1.6v.
FYI everyone... you can set the VID4 wire mod to get 1.55v and then you can use EIST in windows to lower Vcore, set to like 1.22v it gives real voltage of 1.44v. Something to keep in mind for when "not" benching...

guys i have just bought my new bench rig. P4c800-e deluxe , Dothan 750 (1,86) and of course the adapter. But i am having a problem. I cant change the multi. By default it is 6. I tryed from eist, systool but nothing. I cant find the option in bios either. I flashed two times my mobo from asus update proggram. i download the bios from asus site.
What do u suggest?
I'd like to hear more about this, details, pics, proof of concept.
