Got some results in... my superpi times seem to be more in favor of Windows XP w/ my tweaks since i could get it down to.

Here's the XS Bench OS, it seems to take up more memory, is it possible to cut down 'Explorer.exe' anymore?

Don't have any PI times or anything to show ATM, since the XS bench doesn't want to detect my USB HDD or my Nvidia Network card, it's a hassle.:(
Also, XS bench doesn't detect sata harddrives.
Looks like Clint and I have ALOT more work to do..
Sorry to keep having you fix pointless things. :shrug:Quote:

For some reason I cant get either to install on my nF4 raid array. Tried 3 different floppy drives and two different floppy disks.
Which Version Alpha or release?
if it is Alpha it is becuase it is Windows 2003 server based..
If it is release.. then We have a few things to fix...
One idea I would like to put in: Is it possible for you guys to use a different explorer shell? Maybe one that uses less ram? I'll keep an eye out for one and post here if I find one.
How bout a diffrent load picture? Something w/ like "XS Bench"
I'd be glad to photoshop something up.
Well, that I think is because you have not treated them the same before screenshot.Quote:

Please do compare with the same type of OS as well....2003 will allways pull 5-7mb more than XP.
If you have useful tweaks please do post them here so we all can benefit.;)
Those pictures were taken right after boot, all i did was open up task manager in each.Quote:

It can't be the alpha, becuse then it's something wrong with your box...:)
I downloaded I guess the very first version, the one which was distribted through torrent only. Didn't test it up to now, but last two days I couldn't resist. I also got a new vc and therefore can not directly compare with my old scores on own tweaked xp but still I must say for the first beta released it gives good scores! Haven't ran anything not related to 3d though, and I must say that 3dmark01 doesn't like the os/my new vc because I got higher scores with optimized win2k and 6800le then with this iso and 7900gt.
The os is perfectly stable as far as I can tell, had some reboots caused by to much :whip: but that's not the os's fault. I did find some services I could disable (2xsvchost and wifiservices) but I'm pretty sure the wifi got installed by myself lol. I did find the lack off tools disturbing, I expected the latest clockgen/speedfan/a64tweaker/spimod1.4/rivatuner ect to be included on the iso, maybe not neceserry because it's advicable to download the lastest versions.
Are you still open for more beta testers, I would love to participate :)
Hey eboy0, I got a usb drive and it reads it without flaws? For drivers yeah it was said burn your drivers yourself ;) I had trouble to with ULI drivers but everything worked in the end. Did you use release or beta?Quote:

This is rather interesting Would you mind giving us some information about drivers used, Services active, and anyother componet differences..Quote:

I added you to my msn, nick hwa_mtm
Added and open..
Although I would like it posted to help as notes for future reference.
For the mirror, it would be a good idea to test out some different compresion algorithms so that the download is smaller. 7Z works very well, and in some cases will kick RAR/ACE/ZIP's butt all over town.
also, you need to remember that 01, 03, 05, and 06 all have different likes and dislikes to get the highest score. AFAIK 03 and 05 are pretty close in what they like but 01 is VERY different. No idea about 06 though.
I have the exact same error. F6'ed to install NVIDIA RAID (both drivers) but when it starts copying files to the HDD it says it cannot read from floppy. Pressing Esc several times until you skip all the nf4sata files gets you done, but in the first reboot (before the graphical GUI) you get a BSOD. I also tried skipping F6 but all I get is both Raptors recongized as not stripe0. The exact comp is in my rig, let me know if you need any other info.Quote:

BTW, tsuehpsyde: I can imagine you've fixed the problem now, but in case you don't, the solution is press up/down after POST and you can select between both OSes.
Thanks and Great Job Clint and nn!
My GPU keeps going into a hard lock, and the ATI GPU recovery thing comes up and it switches to software rendering for 2D. Its done this about 3 times now.
Athlon XP 1700
768MB ram
Soyo SY-K7ADA
x800 pro @ 16 pipes
its 100% stable on Win2k with the same drivers so its not hardware related
First off, great work, it's very cool of you guys to contribute to the community like this. Secondly, is this recommended for a 24/7 use computer? I've been looking for a stripped down OS for gaming, downloading, school, all that daily stuff. Basically, what can't this OS do? Thanks!
I'm with manomanx2, and knowing a bit more about how the OS is being stripped down can help. I mean, if I knew what you took off, in case I install something that refuses to work, can I install that part?
I must admit I know zero about stripping OSes, sorry for the dumb question :D
Well you can use it for 24/7 usage.. it just isn't designed for that.. plus due to the massive quanity of parts that we stripped out of the OS, telling you everything will in no way help you figure out how to fix that application.. the Best method would be to report it and we can figure it out for you
just downloaded the v1.0 installing it now on to a p3M laptop as i,m on that atm In bed cannot sleep, something to do wayhey
