Rev 'em to 287! -> 2GB Mushkin Redline PC4000 on Infineon CE-5 OCing Report!!!

Not anytime soon. Infineon has raised our pricing on these since they said that their yeild is very low on it. We have contracted with them for a certain supply but prices is negotiated on a Monthly basis. DDR400 is going up right now cuz production has switched to Nand and DDR2.

The price we offer is based on binning, testing, and QA. Yes we could have just built up the modules and sale it as it is but that is not how we work. We test and bin every module to ensure performance. We even mark the chips that dont perform well and rework the whole module to meet our specs and beyond.

Every module is hand tested, memtested, motherboards tested to ensure performance and compatibility.

Unfortunately these were too high for a set of CE-5 RAM. I really wanted to do it but at $310 it just is not worth it for DDR since it is becoming obsolete. I ended up going with OCZ PC-4000 EB CE-5 from Monarch Computer. I wanted to thank Douger for trying to get me the RAM fast but the OCZ to me seems to offer the benefits of CE-5 chips at $200 - $30 MIR. So $170 is a really good price/performance point for me. Not in anyway hashing Mushkin Redline just encouraging people to think about alternatives to this $310 memory.

can you point me the ce5 from ocz. let me know i will pick up a stick and test also. i highly doubt it is ce5. more like aeneon or qimoda memory.

Aeneon are pretty much budget CE ram so expect about 265mhz 3D stable. Hope you get some that overclock well, but it's definetly not CE-5.

so it is not true ce5 parts. i can buy aeneon so we are not comparing apples to apples.

hmmm, I talked with 2 OCZ reps and they both reported that OCZ PC-4000 EB is using CE-5 Infineon. Now, that might be the latest stock of OCZ EB that is coming out of the factory and different from the ones that are on the shelves at Newegg and Monarch. Unfortunately I think the only true way to find out what these are is to get a pair and crack the heatspreaders to see what they are. Otherwise it is just kinda speculation at this point. Again, I am not bashing Mushkin as this is a promo thread I am just trying to find alternatives that cost less and perform comparatively.

Now one thing I am not 100% sure on that you brought up was about the aeneon / qimoda chips. Would these still be labeled under the "CE-5" chip designation or would they be totally different chips altogether. Or does Infineon make the only true CE-5 chip on the market and all the others are merely clones? I do not fully understand this and am just asking for additional clarification if anyone can confirm.

we only use chips to the truest form of the sense. we dont ever substitute anything else. that is fraud and misleading and not ethical. if we make a change to the chip we release a new version it tccd l2v2 and tcc5 l2v3.

i have order a set from both newegg and monarch so we will see next week when they get here.

Aeneon are a brand of Infineon, and are designated CE also. They are the budget version of the Infineon CE-5 and most likely will not overclock as well.

This is for the Gold non-EB version. THIS OCZ PC-4000 RAM is what I ordered from Monarch Computer. I suuure hope it is not aeneon as indicated. Only way really to tell will be when I get them though.

Maybe your thread in the OCZ section will get some answers as to what IC's they are using.

Im only going to state this and leave this thread alone.

OCZ use genuine CE5 as well as Aeneon CE5 for the 4000EB, just because you see a review site pop heatspreaders and they are not labelled Infineon does not mean we don't use them.

Yield can go down on CE6 or CE5 Infineon and be up on the Aeneon, we go with what works...nothing more.

I have 2 4000EB kits here, both are Infineon CE5, I have seen review Aeneon kits do better than my kits here....it all depends on yield.

Got mine yesterday and its Aeneon :rolleyes: but after some preliminary testing I can get it to 265 with a fair amount of stability (270 gave errors in 2.7 - 2.9V). Gotta do a few more tweaks to get it stable but for the most part I am impressed. Both sticks I took pictures of and they are all Aeneon.

Quite impressed for what it is even if it is not Infineon CE-5.

Tell that to my Hynix D5-DT xp3200 lvl2 v2s
Tell that to my TCC5 xp3200 lvl2 v2s, Cas 2.5 or 3 do not even work rofl!

The RMA returns I get from Mushkin are SO BAD, they must be HAND TESTED to just HARDLY work for their specification.

Oh, did I mention these(ED: the TCC5 that hardly works) were from 350$+ pc3500 level 2 black RMA?

What do you CE-5 folks think is going to happen in 2 years when your ram dies?

Your going to get UCCC or the cheapest, hardly working RMA returns possible.

LOL! How about I send you back the crappiest TCC5 on earth, and you refund my 350+$.

these hynix were used before we switch to tcc. if you want i will replace your tcc5 with some bh5 chips. my email is tom@mushkin.com. this happen before our new ownership so somethings might have fell thru the cracks. mushkin is still dedicated to customer service and quality.

Sounds like a good deal to me fhpchris. I'd also recommend talking with Dounger and working out your settings on the set he hooks you up with to get them smoking. He seems to provide all Mushkin users with excellent support.
