Bara is absolute and the lowest number is 0. Barg is relative to the atmosphere and can go negative.
Yes, those rotaries are known for noise. But reciprocating compressors are not always quiet. My friend Shivani had worked on an old condensing unit (for a commercial install IIRC) that had a 3 ton Brysch variable capacity compressor (which has a crankshaft position sensor and a solenoid that can hold open the suction valve to "skip" cycles). She said that at anything less than full load, the unit sounded like a motorcycle!
