All I can say is that originally whilst the icon for uGuru showed up in the system tray when I moused over it it disappeared & quit. Then for some reason (& best that I can think of was 1 of the very many downloaded MS updates to my MCE2005 install from disk) it started working.:confused:Quote:

I'd say just buy a mobo with a complete overclocking BIOS that has access to things like; read preamble, max async latency, read write queue by pass, and bypass max.
More importantly though, I located what's up with this memory bug. It seems the one before the AT8 32X, the AT8 had the same C1 bug I experienced. Read this review page:
"So every time the system hung at C1 after clearing CMOS I just had to disconnect the CPU fan, let the system shutdown and then everything worked normally."

When it happens it gives you the error code C1 which means "detecting memory presence", or a fail doing so. Clearing the CMOS won't fix it. Nothing will, save disconnecting the CPU fan. This happened to me after I went for a 240 FSB. Now I know.
So in closing, this C1 thing that happened to me, is a bug shared with an older board (AT8) still present in the current incarnation that no one has bothered to tune or fix. I wish I had seen that review earlier. I could have saved myself so much time. So if you have a failed OC and then suddenly have this error code that won't go away even with a CMOS clearing (C1), do what the reviewer described.
If you know someone with this board or the AT8 please tell them about how to fix the C1 issue. I would not want anyone to go through the crap I went through last night.

If it's the same bug shouldn't be too hard for tictac to mod the AT8 32X BIOS then.
All I can say is the behavior and code are identical. I can't test the fan fix personally because it isn't in my case anymore. I became disgusted with the whole thing when all of what I described in this thread, along with clearing the CMOS repeatedly, wouldn't get me past C1.Quote:

Had it about a week - so far so good 9x310 on a Opte 165 3448 1T. recovers nice when it hangs.
If Tictac wants to mod a BIOS for the AT8 32X in same manner as done for the AT8, I'd be willing to try it.
When I was stuck in C1 and unable to recover regardless of what I did, I was using crucial ballistix pc 3200 ram capable of 2-2-2-6 @ 200 and also all the way to 3-4-4-10 @ 306. It did that regularly without problems on EPoX boards. This bug seems to come into play with CAS 2 capable ram that fails an OC. After I had set 240 it happened.

Probably just a misprint? The manual specifies non-ECC. But I still thought it strange that both product pages (that probably came later) left it out.

Thats wierd, it shouldnt be ECC. I was under the impression socket 939 cant take it. I just got my at8 32.

Yeah I moved on. Got the DFI CFX 3200 and can run all the memory I own in it at any settings. Ballistix, Corsair, OCZ, and my G.Skill.
My first swipe at 3dmark06 in Crossfire with quality driver(6.3) settings was 9411. Which isn't too bad. The cards were only at XTX stock seed. I expect much more when I start pushing them.

I also like the "CMOS reloaded" feature on the DFI. I have four different complete BIOS settings saved in it. With the DFI if you fail an OC you just hold the power on|reset switch in for a few secs and at the same time turn off the power on the PSU. It resets to default.
The Abit wouldn't be bad for resetting if you could locate and purchase one of their uguru panels to install with the mobo.
Also the BIOS options in the DFI are insane. You can tweak and set pretty much anything you can dream up. It is truly an enthusiast board. If you take the time to learn how to tweak it, its great. I wouldn't waste the money on it though if you are just a plug and play guy or only do light overclocks.

I ordered 2 40mm chipset fans for $4 each :D , free shipping from here. I hope that lowering the PWM and NB temps will help the OCing on this board. I'd also like to see a bios update that could possibly help. Also, the LTP seems pretty strong in itself, I have it set on 800mhz (i suppose thats 4x283=1132). The trick to getting this far is to adjust your HTT 1.2V voltage and NB 1.8V voltage. I was only able to get 283 FSB with HTT 1.2V@ 1.4V and NB 1.8V@ 2.0V, which is the max for both on this mobo right now. At the very least, I think the HTT voltage could stand to go to 1.5V or even 1.6V, but active cooling would be a MUST. With that, higher FSB speeds can be unleashed. :banana:

Thanks for the info! :) It looks like you're the only one having any luck with this board - except maybe a couple guys on Newegg. I'm not asking for anything miraculous. I just want to run at DDR500 with an Opte 165 - without any additional cooling or voltage. This will be for an HTPC/ gaming rig and my first OC. I'm hoping if I use either the Mushkin XP4000 Redline or the OCZ PC-4000 Platinum EB, this should be easy. I read that with the Asus A8R32-MVP, you need to bump it 5 or 10 mhz at a time just to reach 250. Does the Abit behave the same way?Quote:

You shouldn't have a problem OCing ram, unless you have G. Skill. The problem right now is the FSB, DDR500 is easily obtainable with stock cpu voltage, but the HTT and 1.8V NB will probably have to be bumped, its not a big deal, but I'd buy atleast one 40mm fan to go where the OTES heapipe is to help with cooling. A little breeze will go a long way.... like 10-15 degrees C a long way. Otherwise, temps will be around 46-48 degrees C at max load with minor voltage increases on the NB and HTT. Other than the FSB, I really like this motherboard, VERY stable.
Had the Asus32 MVP (FSB@214)board and now this one and both seem just the same it seems (no problems). I'm guessing what luck Iv had is because I invested in a 850 turbo cool power supply a while ago. When you start a revved up benchmark you get 0 surge.
Okay I think I get this now? What I want is HTT 250mhz x 9 = 2250mhz - with 1:1 memory divider and mem frequency of 250mhz - plus lower HTT multiplier to 4. So the Opte can handle 2250mhz and the primo PC4000 memory SHOULD handle 250mhz. But the mobo isn't quite up to the 250mhz HTT without voltage adjustments and NB cooling. But shouldn't it handle the 250 x 4 HTT be default, since it's rated at FSB 1000? Is that something a BIOS update can fix or just a limitation of the technology itself? I'm trying to avoid the extra cooling because of the HTPC thing. But if I gotta do it...Quote:
