or powerstrip..?
Rivatuner is not comp. with the 7900 series. Update coming soon.
Thing is, even if I go with the pathetic auto detect settings... my scores still get worse then stock speeds... or, the app freezes/crashes.
lol
USE POWERSTRIP...thats what opp and others have been using!!!
hmmm, never tried it. Is it pretty staight forward?
Will download it and play with it tonight, thx.
Running my opty at 2600 so I can compare to my fx60 at stock....
7800gtx vs 7900gtx
Can you give me a report on that please? I have been trying to decide whether its really worth it to go with a 7900gtx or just go with a 7900gt... I am disappointed because the gtx's dont seem to scale that well, I mean 710+ @ stock and a max oc of 820 for a lot of people w/ 1.7v? Seems like it scale pretty bad to me.
This is somewhat true, the replacement xFx YDL9 i have hereQuote:

is doing 720 with ease @ 1.45 vgpu & under phase I can hit
over 800 with slight bump of vgpu. I think with DI or LN2 my
one card here should be good for over 900 core clks. :D
In conclusion my YDL9 (650/1600) card is performing just as good
as my YDE9 (675/1700) card overall.
My next step is too match up the two cards with same bios settings.
I say the 7900 gtx is still worth it in my book, but everyones
circumstance varies due to budget, etc..
Well I can afford it, but since I like to tweak a lot I figure why spend all of it on a GPU if I can get a cheaper one that performs almost the same and then get some BH-5? Lol, but knowing myself, I am going with the gtx. EVGA EGS is what I am looking out for or the XFX standard.
Well so far I have run a TON on benchmarks... none of it seems to effect the scores very much.
FYI - I put my opteron to 2600, so I could compare the results with my stock fx60/7800gtx.
Trying just the memory first - I went from 898 - 910. Scores are all withing 100 points ( average 11,500) in 3d mark 05.
Now I am trying to up the gpu.... getting tired though, probally pick up tomorrow.
I wish these damn tests didnt take so long to run!
Interested in seeing your benchmark scores as I read that after 700 core one needs to concentrate in the memory for higher returns. Keep it going dont get tired now :-)
UPDATE:
I was just playing with coolbits and noticed something that really tells me that its very wacky. I tried 5 times 707 core and it gave me the error message but after trying each time I tried 711 and it passed all the time! How come is more stable at 711 than 707 for 5 consecutive times?!
Yea, sometimes it would pass at higher settings, then give back a crappy 3d 03 score?! No artifacts or overheating.. just worse scores. Last night with my opteron at 2800mhz I hitQuote:

Most scores went up, but o3 went down. lol
Thats wierd. Well guys, after more reading and thinking, I am picking up and EVGA 7900GT CO superclocked. I figure 550/1580 @ 1.2v core voltage is perfectly fine since I will be vmodding and the gt's look to hit around the same max core 800+ that the 7900gtx hit. Memory clocks damn well too.
Brand: XFX 7900 GTX Extreme (675/850)
Cooling: Stock
Core Overclock: 774
Mem Overclock: 874
Core/Mem Voltage:Stock
just need the Vmod to go public. .150 volt more would make me very happy.
Just got mine to replace two 7800gtx cards...the other will be here Monday
Brand:XFX 650/800
Cooling: stock air (okay a 12" house fan is helping)
Overclock: 725/920 (all I've tried since yesterday, no arties)
Core/Mem Voltage: stock for now
Single card 03 was up to 24586 last night with a 2900mhz x2 3800+
my 7800gtx 256mb at max was barely hitting 20500
dudes in a "great place" right now
forgot to post mine

i just bought 2x leadtek winfast 7900gtx and havent start oc yet. Well can someone with either leadtek winfast 7900gtx extreme or XFX extreme 7900gtx share their bios here? i love to have pre-oc card :D

Your other card is mounted on the Baker GPU cooler....I'm still trying to figure out these cards and wtf I'm doing :wth:. I think I basically need to find out how much voltage it takes to get to what speed....:p:
Here's what the card is currently clocked at.....1.44/1.54VGPU, 2.25VDDR
