But let me ask you - which uses more of your cpu -> onboard audio or the xfi? I know it's probably very little in comparison to the big scheme of things, but every last ounce of processing power counts :) For example, by taking the sata raid functions on my dfi board away from the onboard nvidia raid and using a pcie sata2 raid card, it saves my cpu ~5% usage......Quote:

Try 0/0 and you should be able to run 330x5 with 1.5v to NB and HT. Also if you put it under phase 50% reduced dqs and 0/0 will max out the cpu and is somewhat of a Cold bug workaround. Also agreed on everything else clocking better. My speed binned pc 3200 UCCC does higher clocks on this board now as well as my OCZ infineon 2 gig pc 3200 and pc 4000.
Get wait to try one of these out, if I ever get the chance that is :). Will they be hard to get in the U.S. or will there be better availability this time around?

s7e9h3n - One thing that could be bad about it is that the onboard sound would require cpu resources to process. IIRC, the xfi is one of the first consumer sound cards which isn't based on an asic and actually handles the processing of audio on its own.....
Now from all the reviews of the nice Sapphire RX480 mobo is one thing clear, IMHO. The CPU speed in it beat the crap of nF4 for sure. Even the memory access is faster - not vey much, but more that noticably.
Now in BF2 framerates the mobo lost - as well, as with other FPS game things. The qeustion why has obvious answer - something is slowing the chipset down. We know, it is not a CPU bridge. We know, that we (over nF4) have superios CPU speed and faster ram access. So, what it is?
PCI bus access, hands down.
And now this is exactly what X-Fi Fatal1ty eliminate much.
It cost a hell of money, but... I still can't help thinking about it. After all, it has a direct BF2 support and it is reported to sound unbeliably nice - and no, no matter how quality the realtek audio is - it did not unlock for one the Ultra settings in BF2 and it did not spare the PCI bus from transfering the sounds, so...
It could be hi-quality, but also slowing things down a little. A X-Fi is obvious but useless with Manta in SLI / Crossfire config solution... Someone from the designers need pretty good :slapass:

Since in CPU test and mem test it beat the DFI nF4 solution, then why lose on FPS games? Could the old bios from pre-production board be blamed for this? Could be such test repeated with new bios? And with onboard sound and then Audigy2 and then X-Fi and then X-Fi Fatal1ty ones? :rolleyes:

One huge plus with this board is the sound. It supports High Definition using the Realtek ALC880 7.1 controller. During testing I used the Realtek HD Audio software that is included on the CD to set up my Logitech Z-680 5.1 speakers and was surprised to see that it sensed when a jack was plugged in and asked how I wanted to use that port. I connected it analog and listened to some MP3's, a couple different CD's, and a couple DVD movies. I could really tell that the sense of being surrounded by sound was greater, and it sounded much richer and more full than the onboard Karajan audio on the DFI board I was using. It isn't as good as a high end add-on sound solution, but it's the best onboard sound I've ever heard; even better than the much applauded NF2 Soundstorm.
I think that was with a pre release bios IRC. they fixed some LAN and some other stuff in the release as well, I think USB.
If you are using 0/0 you are running real weak drive as far as i can remember, that s like 150 ohms+ which really is way to weak for most dimms unless ATI reporgrammed the bios to work in weird ways im unfamiliar with.Quote:

No one drive strength will work on all boards. The required drive will change radically with the board layout and trace characteristics. Manta RevB is totally different compared to our previous reference boards.
For example, Manta will run TCCD best with drives a lot lower than say Halibut or Grouper.

Tony I think I may have misled you a little on those settings. With 2x256 mb of tccd installed 0/3 0/2 got me memtest stable at IRC 315 1/1. I'm sure you know that 256mb density modules usually require weaker settings than 2x512mb.
The 0/0 settings are what i used to max out HTT and max out CPU under DI. I needed those settings versus 6/6 with 2x1gig OCZ plats pc 3200 2-3-2-5 to go above 330 HTT with -56 temps. At that point there was frost on my ram and on the NB and PWM heatsink.
As far as voltage goes I've found improvements although very slight(4 secs faster in PI 8M) with 4x X 300 and 5x X 300 with 1.3 to htt and NB which would likely denote that the voltage bump more or less increases stability at those settings.

ok so im back up and running i have a new cpu here a cabge 146 thats not doing so hot and ive got an ABBWE 3800+...
Ive also got another 06 146 on the wqay should do better then this cabge.
