I think
CCB1E 0550VPMW is better than CCBWE 0550UPMW on both 165 and 170

However for phase, you can reverse that!

All 0551s are mediocre. The very best do 2.7 with 1.4v, the worst need like 1.6v to do 2.7... maybe there's even worse ones who knows.

Trying to decide whether to keep 0550 UPMW (unopened) or 0550 VPMW I have on order. If I knew the VPMW was going to be better for sure I wouldn't even bother opening and trying the UPMW 434L.

Does 50 or less Mhz really matter? C'mon get realistic or do you use your computer to show up others :slapass:

I have a 165 UPMW that does 2.8 [ stock volts ] with the Amd retail heatpipe and fan ... isnt that good enough

Hey guys,

Opteron 170 0550 UPMW IHS removed, Water cooling. "434L" :)

Max prime has been 2970 at 1.584v. Forgot to take a screenshot.

Failed after 22 mins at 3000mhz

Dual prime stable at 2950 1.57v, seen here:

Also ambient temps, case ventilation, AS5 settling, etc etc.

I mean, if you can afford phase or LN2 to get insane >3ghz ok, but to get less than a 4-5%, why get so many headaches (and bangs to our wallets :D)? I know this is XS, but sometimes you all have to admit the gain is really really small ;)

I agree 100%..which is why in the past I never got caught in a speed or OC..took what I got

Not this time...I am still am looking to have my head examined:stick:

I sold my 165@2610...$30 loss
I have a 170@2700 ?? for sale since I have a 170 0550 VPMW in transit..this is my last one period...all I want is lower vcore becasue of florida temps in the summer

I have never bought 3 cpus looking for an overclock...I just hope I do not lose too much on the 170:(

^Same here, I was happy originally with my X2 3800 @2.67 with 1.55v.. but these opterons are really addicting !

yup. i was happy w/ my 4400 at 2.83 but just purchased a 0550 upmw. and a xpmw. man is my credit card bill gonna be high this month.

Yes that could be the only reason I buy again another 165, but I wanna wait to see how the 06 chips perform. Here in Spain gets pretty hot too, 45c outside :banana:

So this thread is about the comparsion between cpus that were assembled on Thursday of 0550 v those assembled on Friday of 0550?
I would have though any variation in the 5 digit stepping would be more relevant....

The UPMW chips are all CCBWE and the VPMW are all CCB1E.
