I follow what is discussed here, and other prominent forums closely. The issues and even criticisms presented in this forum are very relevant. I know that it may seem that DFI (and other hardware makers) are distant and uncaring sometimes, but nothing could be further from the truth. I can assure you and other readers that this matter is being treated seriously by DFI.
there is a reason for dfi to care about this, how unlikely is it that you put your cat into your microwave to dry it aftern you just washed it? yet manufacturers have to put a warning on their microwaves... it doesnt matter how unlikely it is, if your dedicated to your business you will try to do all you can to help your customers enjoy your product.Quote:

Until someone from DFI releases an official PR statement then speculation based on ACTUAL experiences noted (and some repeatable) here at XS is all we have. Say what you want about the intelligence of our members, your attempt to coddle guilt from XS members because we involve ourself in open-forum discussion is WAY off the mark. In fact I would say that it is YOU that needs to develop yourself here not the other way around. Who do you think you are coming to this board and telling us how to engage in conversation?Quote:

guys, please calm down. i agree that it would have been better if somebody from dfi would have stepped up before, but now they are here, so lets be thankfull for what we got and not complain about not getting it earlier.
please understand that he cant tell you guys a lot either as id guess most odf the things that are known are already posted and the stuff you guys dont know is all speculation or not verified yet and wouldnt help anybody.
im sure that as soon as they find out something else he will share it with us asap :)

You know how I can get when I deal with obtrusive people...sorry if this comes out wrong but I don't think we owe this supposed DFI representative anything. First off, how do we know who he says he is. Secondly, why is it that we feel he can do anything for us? And lastly, Xguy is thinking just like I am: We have a conversation regarding the concerns surround the CPU/DFI eXpert motherboard problems and some guy joins the board and proceeds to tell us not to speculate? Looks like damage control to me. So far he has provided NOTHING conclusive and has only side-stepped the issue by trying to make it look as if we owe him some credit. Why? Because he says he's a DFI rep? Whoopdy-do. Let's see some action. Let's see something other than a lecture on speculation from a no-name new member. Really, who's concerns matter most? Those of well-planted, established XS members or, for lack of a better term, some noob?

and your not helping yourself or anybody else on xs or the ocing community by trating him like that.
if he posts some information that hasnt be confirmed and approved by dfi yet he will get into trouble with dfi, plus people might run into problems if it turns out the information was wrong. so why should he post such informations?
and the informations that dfi approved/verified have already been posted.
and the bios fix doesnt mean that dfi knew about this for a while, afaik they found the issue and had the bios done in less than a week and posted it asap.
the only thing you can criticize dfi for ,in my opinion, is not making any public statements. but i hope this will change now.

if you dont trust him or anything then please just watch this thread and dont post anything. please dont ruin the chance for everybody else to get answers and maybe some support.
if you kindly ask him a question he might actually reply, if you demand something and throw in some curse words then he will shut up... he doesnt have to help you, hes posting here on his free time!
i hope that dfi can send somebody to post on xs regularly and keep us updated and offer some support, but if they see posts like yours they are def not going to do it!

This along with the latest 25/11 bios is giving me screen corruption on the pre-windows booting screen ....
With the 17/11 BigToe bios i do not have this problem .....

I'm sorry if I angered you. I hope you can see the frustration I have with DFI support (especially since my multiple unanswered emails left me very bitter with "customer service"). We do want you to be a part of XS and hope that you can find a home here contributing to our community. If you need help with testing and data collection I know there are a lot of people here that have the technical ability and time to help. Once again, I'm sorry if I upset you but this thread came up at a sensitive time.

Hehe I'm used to dealing with all sorts of tough situations as an MB tech, so you have to hit me with a very big stick to offend me:stick: No apology necessary. Support keeps me busy most of the time and I don't have a alot of time to post here or on DFI-street, but I lurk at both when I can. Thanxs for the offer to test/collect data. One question for the DFI rep. If this new bios and this issue is so important to DFI, why is the official bios still 1102? Don't noob's deserve some protection as well?

i guess dfi wants to make sure this bios wont cause any sideeffects.
so far one person seems to have problems with the bios and cant save any settings to it, and SmokeyTheBandit seems to have bios image corruption problems with this bios. so i guess they will tweak the bios some more before they release it as a final.
but lets see what bulldog has to say :D
The BIOS screen corruption within 11-22 / 11-25 is in the description fields... odd characters and the like such as de.bin???
12-07 has corrected that and working ok with my setup. One item I have noticed between 11-25 and 12-07 is that RAM DLL SPEED is no longer available in Genie.

And if it is a cold boot issue, then yes, DFI should care or give a dang since its their hardware with the cold boot issue not the cpu's that it is killing. If the thread adds to the hysteria, its not the original posters fault, or any other posters fault. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and a right to react as they see fit.
The issue with the board is not the standard stuff you have to worry about anytime you fire up your system. This is something else entirely.
I am sure they will resolve the issue with the board, but the community hates being the beta tester in this instance.
I would like to thank DFI for entering into this with the ability to look past the rants and work directly on the problems.
Understood that some are emotional over this and talk is not enough to some.
Lets hope the bios addresses the current issues and DFI has a public statement as to the identification and resolution of the problem.
Please keep this thread clean and to the point. If you have an issue please state your case with examples.
Any further off misuse of this thread as a platform to attack DFI will be removed without notice.
FCG, I expect to see more constructive posts from you. I know you are a good guy that this problem directly affected you. Please give DFI time to respond on the problems and not derail the thread before he has had time to reply.
It's like Saaya said. Only, after a Beta BIOS has gone thru the necessary certification can it be certified as official. Remember that private individuals are not the only ones in need of BIOS updates. Most system assemblers can't and won't use Beta BIOS's. A Beta BIOS must therefore pass thru a number of certification tests to be declared official. Pre-assembled systems couldn't get WHQL'd with Beta BIOS's present. Some Beta BIOS's are also not desirable by certain system assemblers as official BIOS's. Basically for a BIOS to make it as official it has to be able to be usable by EVERYONE. DFI and other MB makers provide Beta BIOS's mainly as a service to private individuals, such as yourselves. This gives private individuals the opportunity to have early access to needed fixes that might otherwise be slowed by the certification process. Or in some cases to BIOS versions that might not be certified at all! We of, course, warn you of the risks ahead of time, and let you decide if you want to use one. In DFI's case, in particular, we are aware that our LAN Party boards are used by the enthousiast community, and that in general the ethousiast community is willing to take more risks asscociated with using Beta BIOS's. I could see how it may seem that we are letting users become a sort of Beta BIOS testing group. This is not the intention however. It is to allow you more versatility in general. Take a look at MB maker's websites who do not make enthousiast boards and you will likely notice far less Beta BIOS's on average.
