2.8Ghz really isn't shabby for a 165 u know

i really want to take off the IHS but im scared ill crush the chip when mounting my scythe ninja back on.
what's ur temp like ?Quote:

it could be my motherboard.... it has a record on reporting 10c above actual on some CPU..
Wow 60C. Little guys run warm huh?
Nice results guys. Keep'm coming.
Stickied. ;)
I run a Cathar Storm on my NF4. I had to make my own mount kit with screws. Ive removed my IHS and have my block torqued down a LOT to decrease load temps. I believe these cores are a hell of a lot stronger than anything back in the XP days, so i wouldnt worry about it.Quote:

Nevermind, OEM is out of stock too.. Hmm, take a gamble on a 170?
we need those opty here (canada)
Still tweaking.. Core 1 still likes to fail Prime95 Small FTT's. I went back down to 2.7 GHz (300x9)
I remounted my HSF and cleaned up some cables.. temps are a bit better..
Dual priming at 1.45V @ 2.7 GHz, only been going for 10 minutes though.
Temps:
48C Load
57C PWM IC :(
49C Chipset
I know dualcore = high PWM IC temps.. but i think its above average.. My case cooling isn't that bad..
Have a P180 with 4 120mm fans inside.
HAVE YOU GOT DIRECT FAN OVER PWMQuote:

Unreal. I just was looking for a certain stepping opty on Google and in most of the forums, you were there. I come back to XS and the first thing I see is your name. LOL
You have to be the most traveled oc'er on the forums. Do you ever sleep? :)
Take your time going, just hurry back. :D
oh they certainly do.........................Quote:

my evga free motherboard is killing my overclock of this 165...
i will report back again when my ultra-d reaches this week....
:rocker: ...........it's a little scary that even my fellow forumers thing i hang out around here too much heheheh....i guess i'll just....hmm...maybe not hehehehQuote:

What model and stepping should I try to find? CCBWE 0530? I will be under phase so giving it juice for a high oc isn't a problem.
I'm dunno if I should wait for prices to come down for the higher models.. and that doesn't even guarantee a better oc correct? Should I just spend the money now for the 165?
Buy them from Monarch ;)Quote:

I can single prime small FTT on core 1 fine.. CPU 1 is 100% while CPU 0 is 0%
however, when i run two instances and set each affinity, where CPU 1 and 0 are both 100% @ the same time... CPU 1 will fail in a couple of minutes, and CPU 0 will keep going.
basically, CPU 1 is able to prime 100% cpu usage as long as CPU 0 is idle.
waiting is bad for getting a hot stepping. your best bet is opty 165/170/175 retail from monarch. I bet in a couple weeks, those steppings will poof.Quote:

Guess I'll bite the bullet and try one. 170 OEM or Retail?
OMFG!!! i had no idea these 939 opterons even existed. my X2 3800 is now officially on sale and as soon as i sell it im getting a dual core opteron. what do you think guys, 170 oem from monarch or 165 retail from mwave or 170 retail from mwave ?? i wanna maximize my chances at a good oc. thank you xtremesystems.
it's about luck so i guess a retail 165 will do if u can handle high htt.
I think the best onsidering price will be 165. I have one doubt and I am not sure this is the right place.
I ordered a 165 yesterday from monarch when there was stock. Now it says this message:
ETA November 28
Ship dates may change. Please check back here for most current ETA date.
Temporarily Out of Stock - Now taking back orders on a first come, first serve basis
This means I might not receive my opt 165 now? I am sorry but I am from europe and sometimes my english is not that good. Tkx!
