Hmmm...X1800XL don't look half bad now, DO THEY??

these being the 'cheap' cards from my pov. Awesome

172W pelt, too bad it won't load Windows under -0°. I wonder what thats about.
Here are the OCing results of my Gecube. Should be able to push it even higher. But i decided to stop....for now.
I used stock cooling. AIR.
Seems all the XL so far are good overclockers.
Here are my results.

Mmmm ... warming up to it now. Great single card solution and the great core on the XL makes it the default bang/buck choice. I'm sure many (around here at least) will pay the premium for the XT memory upgrade but if I see the XL at a crazy price, I'm in. :DQuote:

Cards definately cold bugged somehow. I have to pull the pelt to try another driver. I was able to get into Windows last nite with 80° water on the pelt, and it was very unstable with the card drivers eventually not responding. Anything less than that H2O temp I could not even load Windows.
I wonder if this is something like Fugger was seeing. He said he had to ground the phase block or something.
This was on all three OS partitions :slapass:
Hey Greyskull, I want the Sampsa - macci BIOS :D
So far i have reached 654 on the core, but I cannot seem to get the memory above 630. Raising the vcore on the gpu lets me raise the mem higher?(was at 621) Why is that? I tried the memory up to 2v but it doesnt help. I have tried to lower the core to 500, but still cant get the memory higher.I have tried the vcore at 1.3, but dont know if I should go higher. I am still happy with this board I score 8743 in 05 so I have no complaints. :)
I believe raising the voltage to the gpu helps the memory due to the memory controller recieving more voltage as well which helps to stabilize at higher memory frequencies. This happens on A64 cpus as well where raising the vcore helps to stabilize the ondie mem controller.
Nunyabiz, 654/630 is nothing complain about from a 500/500 stock card with NO hardmods. If you are still using the stocker cooler, which chances are you are due to no other alternatives being available as of yet, why don't try changing the thermal paste to something better on the core and get rid of the pads on the ram. I am sure you will net a few degrees less if you use ceramique/AS on that card instead of the stock thermal gunk.
First off as I stated above, I am not complaining at all. I put my Zalman vf700alcu and it lowers temps about 6c load, but that didnt help either. And I am using artic silver :)Quote:

Two seconds into quake 4 I got major artifacts. i then set core to 628/1.225 and left mem at 775. Played quake 4 for 30 min with no issues. very very strange.Quote:

Mems at 775/1.9 and core at 2.0v+ everything is fine, no artifacts nothing. :confused:Quote:

Anyway nice OCs fellas, I'm at 600/700 at 1.2v/2.0v and probably going to try higher in a little while. Great card, the XT is already here it seems and for a great price :)Quote:

This feedback helps in diagnosing/fixing problemed cards.
Good info to know guys.
BTW what is the difference between the Fatality Zalman and the normal one? Any better cooling, is it louder or quieter than the stock fan at full speed? Seems like the Zalman is the way to go right now so I may go that route.
I think the fatality will run like 3500 rpm and the regulare runs somewhere around 2500rpm. That will make it a little louder, but it will also cool better.Quote:

Care to elaborate? This is turning out to be one hell of a card for OCers....there's no doubt about that. :stick:
Hello guy's. I'm clocking my X1800 XL to. The max i found was 650-820 BUT. It seemd to run ok. But when i started to play HL 2 Lost cost. And ATi Tool arti check of the 0.25 beta 8. I got artifacts. And a lot.
I traced the problem and its the GPU voltage. If i do nothing and just raise it to 1.250 or so i get instant problems in ATi Tool or HL 2 LC. Did not see them visualy in Warcraft 3 or 01 and 05.
The mem is Ok. 700 gives no artis @ all. must test higher. But last time i needed Higer GPU voltage to get to 800.
But do yu guy's have any idea what causes this ? i can't raise it without problems even 1.150 is giving problems.
might be to much heat? hows your case cooling? Try putting a powerful fan over it, to see if you can get it a bit cooler.
