I apologize if this has already been obviously covered, but I just ordered my 8RDA a couple of days ago from newegg, and I plan to use it with my AXIA T-Bird 1ghz @ 7.5 x 200 which is 1500mhz... There are no issues or problems as of right now between NF2 chipset's running high FSB with original 200fsb chips like the T-Bird right?

Mackanz, I have posted some NF7-S unbuffered Sandra mem benches in OPP's DDR thread. They are good, but I hope we can get more out of the board. We have had no problem running the R9700 at any FSB. Hope that was what you were looking for.

Nasty, we did not do anything to the 1900. It runs fine in the NF7-S as-is.
I was referred over here from the 3dmark forums because I'm having trouble overclocking my 2800+. The highest fsb I can reach is 170 and that really sux.
I'm a little hesitant to trying your mod because I've never done anything like this to a cpu before, but I don't mind trying it. My main questions is: Can you please show a higher-res pic of the cpu after it was modded so that I can get a better idea as to how I should do my cpu?
That small picture on the original post is barely visible. Or can you email me a larger picture?

I was also wondering about this, because I was thinking using an exacto knife/scalpel/etc may break the bridge, but what if some vibration were to cause it to connect again? No material is being removed, so it might reconnect...

Just installed my 8RDA and for some reason neither of my PS2 keyboards work... anybody got an idea why they dont want to work? I cant even get rollin with this motherboard because I cant get into the bios or control anything... I dont wanna buy a USB keyboard but I will if I have to...

I tried it on my 2600 with a A7N8X with no luck. I still cant get it to boot past 180 fsb. Anyone know of a prog. that can tell me the default fsb to make sure I opened it?
just qurious... how deep do you have to cut the 3th L12 bridge or just thin cut on the line because I never overclocked by cutting the bridges... and also does it going to work also in my m/b??

I am running 2700 with 1GB of PC3500 Dual DDR on A7N8X deluxe.
Before cutting L12: CPU 199x10; RAM sync'ed at 6-3-3-2.
After cutting L12: CPU 204x10; RAM sync'ed at 4-3-3-2.
It DOES work on A7N8X deluxe. :toast:
Get a high power magnifying glass/ $5 microscope and look at the bridge you cut. Make sure they are not touching, as the scalpel/exacto knife dont remove any material, just break the connection. The two peices may have flexed back up and might be touching again.
Annoyed with the low fsb, I decided to try. Before any of this is valid can someone confirm that the 2600+ will default to a 2000+ When cut? If so then I cut the L12 bridge successfully and the results are accurate. I have the A7N8X non-deluxe. running corsair xms 3500 btw. Before the cut i was only able to achieve a stable fsb of 192 and after...still could only get to 192. :( Bios 1001.e Looks like im gonna have to get the abit when it comes out with holes. Great find tho for those who which it works.

there you go, I met you half way. Now, just point to me which bridge i need to cut. I have the idea that by cutting, you mean breaking the black line of the necessary bridge. Is that correct?

But don't "cut" the bridge as depth control is NG and you might also cut other traces below, Wear away the material gradually and carefully with a diamond coated burr...BUT used "by hand". Get burr from dentist, the finest pointed, narrowest conical angle at tip, so it wears away the narrowest "trench". Epoxy the burr into suitable tube and use like a pencil or surgical instrument, inspect progress frequently...doesn't take long with "diamonds". If you have a cheap dentist, try hdwe or hobby shops, but keys are diamonds and very fine tip.

Look at the upper left of your pic where the L12's are.
The current sequences is: Open|closed|closed|closed for 166(333)
You want: Open|closed|Open|closed for 133(266).
I wonder what all closed defaults to? 8-)

I reset the cmos and it booted as 133. Still cant go above 180 fsb synced. What bios are you using? Maybe I have to chnge the multiplier. Its at 12.5 I'll be happy if I can get it stable at 200 synced.
Yep, that's probably the problem. Drop your multiplier to 10 or lower and run factory recommended RAM timing at sync'ed FSB, after that start uping your FSB and run benchmarks everytime and adjust your voltage accordingly. You should be able to find out what your max FSB is then. After that just raise the multiplier and timing back up slowly to find out what you can get.Quote:

I lose too much CPU performance if I drop the multiplier lower than 10 since I can get a ted better timings but can't get 207FSB stable; and even at 10.5 my stablility goes out the window... so 10's my magic number... for 12.5 you will need a lot of VCore, a lot of cooling, and a lot of luck. ;)
Got BIOS ver E here to answer your question. I see that you are running on ver G... there has been some BAAAAAD reviews on it... not sure if thats the problem.
I got it. Im now running 200.45 fsb syn. At 11x. I switched to bios E. Using timings 5222. I was able to score 16125 on 3dmark. Seems stable, going to loop mem and cpu benchmarks overnight.
Grats! 16125 sounds about right on the 9700pro... did u OC it? What VCore and VDimm are you at now? 5-2-2-2 is awsome timing! With good air-cooling and some more tweaking you maybe able to get high 16000's maybe even hitting 17000. I am stuck in mid-13000 with my Ti4600... /sigh...Quote:

Ok, I am building my 1st computer. I have on the way the following:
AMD 2600+ 333FSB
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe
(1) Kingston PC3200 512 meg (should I have gotten 2 of these)
Volcano 7+
ASUS iPanel Deluxe
ATA 133 round cables
Maxtor ATA 100 HD(already had)
Asylum GeForce4 Ti4200(already had)
Plextor 24X10X40(already had)
I want to get the most I can from this set up & I am not opposed to spending some bucks if needed. I have a Chieftec Sever Case w/ a 450 watt PS in it, is that OK? Two 80mm rear exhaust fans & a 80mm intake fan. I was looking into a chipset cooler & the Thermaltake active ram cooler. Any thoughts?
Should I buy a cooper shim for my CPU/cooler install, can I use the past that comes with the 7+?
Should I modify the case & add a intake fan on the acrilic window, or add a 120mm exhaust fan on the top of the case? Is the fan that came with my video card ok?
What do I need to cut on this $285 chip to make it faster, I thought the ASUS had a jumper that made the MB go to 333FSB.
What program do you use to monitor & get all of these stats?
