Having fun with Dothan, Socket478 and AGP card

Just wow. I have not expected Dothans to be such beast in gaming. Still no dual chanel and low FSB and that kind of peformance? Cant wait for newer version of this cpu.
Great work Macci! When do you think we will see a phasechange action? It will be to funny if you can get whithin top5 in 3d01 with this s478 rig. Who knows mayby top score. To bad you cant runs SLI with this chip, would be realy intresting to see 3d05

The possibility to use i865/875 mobos gave DualChannel and highFSB (even above 300 if needed) for Dothan. Its a beast indeed :D

have you tried adding a second u-wire mod to the dothan.

to get to 1.586v put vid pin4 to vss pins g4-f4
then add e2-d2 for vid0 1.612v
or f3-e3 for vid2 1.660

I am still running at 162x16 2591 1.586v memory at 205 2-2-2-5 in a p4p800(not se)

i found that if i set the fsb to 133 in bios and enable turbo and memory accelrator it changes the ram divider so when at 133fsb the ram runs at 178 instead of 166. only problem is the agp/pci is not locked at 66/33 i think with fsb at 162 the pci was 38.

the CO revision goes better?

Whoa, this is amazing stuff. Intel is CRAZY continuing with the P4's. These Dothans are the way to go!

If I had some extra cash I would definitely throw it into a Dothan rig.

Should that CT479 adapter also work with an Asus P4GD1 mobo? 915P chipset, DC DDR400 and PCIe 16x for X850XT PE cards :D Maybe you can hit 01 #1 with that board and your X850XT PE

Edit: Checked Asus site: P4GD1 works with CT479 :D

That looks like a really nice alternative for the peeps who are AGP less at this point. Too bad it doesn't have an onboard sata raid

The P4GD1 is a lousy overclocker on a lousy chipset!!!

Did you play with these new Intel/DDR2 setups yet? If yes, how do you like them compared to these Dothan? I personnaly prefer my Intel 640 rig then my AMD 3500+ one... By much!

What so bad is in P4GD1 ? Im verry interrested, i'll have this mobo soon at home :(

Because the Intel one is better.... Even with the 3500+ Chilled to -15C the 640 was better on air.... The major difference is the RAM's, DDR2 owns DDR1.

But please, no one quote this message... I know how some peoples are, and I dont want a flame war to start....

I must admit like skate2snow I prefer my P4 640 @ 4.2ghz over my Venice @ 2.8ghz.
Maybe it's only the "big number" but...it's faster :p:

yeah these chips are pretty. powerfull indeed. This my old 34.5k score everything stock cooled.
Dothans hit higher fps than AMD thanks to that they beat FX-55's clock for clock. the framerate fluctuates like crazy also which makes them weaker in real world gaming though.
