Wow! You are a lucky man. My Axp still overclocked to near 2800mhz even with half the core broken off. I accidently dropped my SLK-900a on it!

Don't give up on the S940->S939 mod. An Opteron 140 only costs like 200$, but has all of the features of an FX55 other than clock speed, and that can be regained by a high HTT which a NF4 is easily capable of.
Does anyone have one of those pin information diagrams? I'll try doing it myself.
This is simply stunning OPB! I know its been said a few too many times already, but you are one lucky son. :D
This does give me an idea though. An Xtreme Systems Pin Removal Contest! See how low you can go on your 939 processor's pin count. :p:
Well, mi 754 just went back tu dead after a friend solder a piece of coper wire instead of a broken pin, but compared with that, it's a joke

ouch...sorry to hear that dude. A thin copper wire isn't going to stand a chance in the high amp world of pin CPU contacts. If it melts and bridges pins, that is gonna cause a whole lot of smoke (potentianly). Did you get a burn out? Looks a little cooked at the edge. Is that die electrice solution by change? Were you on a phase change or TEC solution?
FYI... there are some major differences between the two. Starting with the memory interface...Quote:

Congrats
i was gonna say, 939 = 128bit interfaceQuote:

it just won't work
also, in addition to all the grounding/power pins, there are quite a few that are probably leftover from 940.
i'm thinking the extra HT links. i'm pretty sure that each HT link on an opteron 8xx gets it's own set of pins. thus if those links aren't used.. you can get away with breaking the corresponding pins.
wow that is very very odd. but kinda funny to in how it still works.
Man thats crazy. Your so lucky it hurts. You should be awarded or SOMETHING lol.
if you live in europe you should try euro millions :D
64 million euros prize next week :p

I'm talking about making an adapter, if the new opterons apparantly support non buffered/regged memory than it's just a matter of matching up the signals and removing dual support.
Failing that, are there any S940 mobos that are good for overclocking? I haven't paid attention to the S940 scene untill now.
None that are worth the trouble of ECC ram/bad oc options/limited availability/expensive hardware along with no guarantee that your opteron will be ocable  .Quote:

Perkam
At 200$ I could buy 5 and only pay as much as a FX55. Mods arn't a problem, just a good chipset, a bios with options like DFIs, and no serious bugs. I can do any mods needed.
sick :slobber:
holy thread revival lol
NC = No Connect, VSS = Ground (you lost one...)
You lucked out!

Time for the ever hilarious picture:

arent there s940 and s939 agp boards that use the same PCB?
Of course there are differences, but I dont think there are quite as many as it seems.

I think we should take a cpu, break off every N/C and unused (debug) pin there is and overclock it. :D
this is amazingly old thread. Stop replying to it ppl. ;)
