I've been checking reviews and the nForce2 is awesome. I'm getting the NF7-S as soon as it comes out. Just bought the AT7-MAX2 but the NF7-S sounds sweet. The Epox 8RDA+ doesn't sound to bad either. :toast:

Hmm... Time to get a new board + cpu methinks. Reading all this (except the fighting going on) wets my appetite. So far I'm a novice when it comes to overclocking (Can't really do that much with ASUS + Palomino on air).

I've contacted the shop and they have the board in their hand and they're selling them on the net. They told me they don't have holes around the socket. Maybe (and i hope so) abit will release a new revision of the board with the holes, but i'm only speculatingQuote:

Yes the first batch going to the bigger retailers will probably not have holes but I'm 99.9% sure batches after that will have the four holes.:D
It's the holes that will decide if i buy it or not! I'm sure it's gonna be a great mobo, and i love abit (only owned abit mobo so far) but if there is no hole around the socket i'm gonna buy it as good as it can be.Quote:

No problem I feel Abit as taken everyone's concern about the holes very seriously. Somemore good news is its possible we might be seeing more voltages as well, via bios update. Thats still in the works though.Quote:

NO WAY I'm going to pay $150 for a brand new board that has
NO ide Raid, Vcore of ONLY 1.85v and 2.7 Vdimm.
Did I read that right? The board has a top FSB of 237 but only a 2.7 Vdimm?
Plus NO HOLES?

the four holes missing realy pisses me off it was the breaking point for me between the epox and the abit nf2 boards. i was wondering if its posible to drill them in if theres no circuts in the way hmmm???
Wait a teeny bit more for the real NF7-S boards. They will have this feature.
I wouldn't do this (unless you want a dead mobob) as it's a multilayer pcb, if there is no connection on the surface doesn't that there is no connection under!Quote:

my question is whether the extra power connector for the cpu is really useful or necesary. Only the Abit and MSI have this. Anand did not even mention this for either board and it was probobly not put there for looks. Yes I have heard of future processors needing it, but what about todays procs running at tomorrows speeds? Abit has said that all of their bus speeds work, and noone has gotten there. What are they doing that noone else is. What do they have that noone else has. Its troubling, that they would say this and not be delivereing it. I have been waiting for this board and can not see buying it if it can not reach any more than 186. ????????WTF?

i got a question bout that extra power connector. i just looked at my antec 400w psu, and well, i dont have that power connector, do most psu's have it or something?
It's called P4 ready.. P4 uses that little 4 hole 12v plug. I guess some manufacturers of AMD mobo's are utilizing the 12v rail on the newer supplies. Probably because AMD systems don't use the 12v rail much, they are beginning to use it for stability reasons. There most likely is a regulator on the board that drops that 12v to 3v and or 5v so there is more current available.
This is just my theory, as I have absolutely nothing to back it up.
That extra power connector is for not overloading the standart 20pin ATX connector when using the +12V Power Line for P4 "feeding" on the P4 MoBos.Quote:

Well AMD MoBos are using "+5V" for the CPU, and the P4 is using the "+12V" power line...Quote:

KD7-E has the P4 plug on the board, as well.
I haven't taken the time to trace the power leads from that connector, but:
my 5 and 12 v rails on this board are more stable than on my kr7a
the Vcc fluctuates less than on the kr7a
The "P4" connector is near the "tri-phase" CPU power circuitry
- so I'm assuming in the lack of other evidence that ABIT is using the 12v to supply or augment the CPU power.
