I run my X850XTpe at 105. I have seen that reccommended for ati's and 102-3 for Nvidia cards on this board. Not sure why, but it seems fine.

This is very true. There are also many things that can be the weak link on this setup, from a simple bios setting, to not enough voltage, not enough cooling, to the PS on and on.

i read that too (didnt angry games say that ?)...the reason might be "to make sure the pci-ex bus is locked"....(by overclocking it a bit).....but well....this might also be an urban myth :)

I can list a bunch of "recommendations" which are all nice and good...but mysterious since there is not ANY explanation why to do this and why to do that...:)

If you are having stability problems, then by all means you should try the beta bios. I would throw 218 on and see if it helps. Jst make sure you follow the instructions for flashing from the officail DFI site.

It's not for the lock. But I never did get a straight answer as to why he reccommended this. maybe it is the safe o/c setting for those repective cards for best performance.

This is correct. Its a performance issue. I run my 2 x 6800U at 103mhz for a small added kick in throughput. But, the actual performance difference is quite small:)
