They're also available at Savrow as well, but I have no intention of buying from a place with such a stunted product list - the same goes for extreme prometeia. Maybe I'll call in with them when I want some cooling! I know what sort of service I'm going to get from places like OCuk and Scan. I know that if I buy an OCZ psu from anywhere I'll be looked after.

Now if you really want to impress me tell me where I can get a 700w Zippy PSU in the UK :p: :lol:

Phil Stanbridge at EP is actually a stand up bloke and he has just dropped a lot of money off the PCP&Cs. He doesn't have a massive product range I know, but he is catering for a niche market.

I use scan because they are nearby and I don't have to wait for shipping (I tend to go over the counter) but I tend to avoid using OCuk, I'd sooner give my business to CPU City or Tekheads if I can help it.

Thats certainly a nice price - and if I'd seen it I would have been tempted - it was pricier last time I looked.

The good thing about Scan is, if you need to RMA, they will arrange for a free pick up - doesn't really help you I suppose :lol: OCuk are also very understanding with RMA - though you have to pay for postage.

Only ordered one thing from Tekheads and it took 14 days to come through - which unfortunately soured me on them. It happened to be a 2 molex to PCIe converter, and it was wired upsidedown - i.e. to +5v instead of +12v.

Anyone owned both PSUs and have an opinion? It'd cost too much to change now though :lol:

Lol, scan wasn't that much fun when I went there on Satuday and queued for an hour before having to leave the queue because I had an appointment with a customer. I was glaring at the n00bs who where dithering and asking stupid timewasting questions about USB2 pci cards. I felt like shouting "FOR :banana::banana::banana::banana:s SAKE! I'M HERE TO BUY AN FX-55!" to see if it would get me up the queue. :soap:

Isn't the 600w OCZ a split +12v rail? If so, you have to watch out (even more than usual) when using software/BIOS measurements. The split rail has two seperate +12v supplies and the software is only measuring one of them... and they are not both the same voltage. I have had two different motherboards measuring the +12v rail that is NOT supplying the CPU. Basically this measurement is only telling you if your straining the +12v rail that is supplying your hard drives, optical drives, video card, etc. Personally I have no use for this kind of power supply unless they start producing 2x30A rails. :D

When I get a DMM I'll test them :) but we'll all of forgotten about it by then :) Btw - I know what you are saying, but a neopower has dual 12v rails as well, and still managed to fluctuate!

I can only state that my Powerstream 520 has worked perfectly while the Neo2's keep blowing away... FX-55 running at 3.35GHz.

Maybe the MB:s capacitors can't handle the current?

just a quick question here...where should you adjust the rails on the 510 deluxe? in the bios? windows?

mine has the internal pots

there are holes in the side, you stick in a screwdriver and twist

if you didnt all ready know about this you definately should take the time to read about it. voltage can kill

Everything I order from tekheads come same or next day, never had a problem with them, however OCUK did manage to lose £1200 of laptop in the post, and fobbed me off for nearly two weeks. Anyway,I digress.

I'm no expert, but here is what one user said in this thread, Message #22:

"- OCZ powerstream supplies are dual rail, afaik
- The MSI mobo has an inductor directly after the ATX12V connector, with no capacitance before it. Most other brands I see (Asus, my Soltek, etc) have a capacitor directly after the connector.

This is a bad move on the part of MSI - it means switching noise from the VRM can travel up the ATX cable into the OCZ, and it's being shunted in the output capacitance of the OCZ. This is a recipe for EMI (which the +12V cable is likely radiating a ton of) and it has the potential to wreak havoc on the OCZ's control loop for that 12V rail.

And wether the inductive load presented by the motherboard falls within acceptable limits of the OCZ's control loop, is unknown. Who knows, the thing could go completely unstable and go bang, if the power supply wasn't designed to handle a weird load impedance which the motherboard could be presenting."

520's are single rail I believe.

pcp&c are excellent psu's either way, and by mods, i'll assume you mean for appearance purposes; ie sleeving; they actually come sleeved, but some people go further as to sleeve some of the floppy wires or change the molex connectors to uv reactive connectors. as far as modding it in any other way, there really is no need, as it already has adjustable pots. so i hope this answers your question. i have the pcp&c 510-deluxe, and couldn't be happier. i have nothing to say about the powerstream series, because i have yet to own one.

I always try and use Cpucity.co.uk for anything. Great site, great customer support.

Ive used overclockers a lot in the past and only had 1 thing go wrong, i got a bad stick of memory, but they replaced it, and refunded me for the postage.

CPU rang me up when i had a preorder for a sapphire x800xtpe and said they'd be ages, and let me have a Asus instead, cause i was early in the pre order.

They don't lie about there stock, and they don't talk bull :banana::banana::banana::banana:. Overclockers do, there forums are full of so much progoganda and anti anything other than overclockers, it's sad.

I remember when i had my DFI 250GB sitting in front of me, bought from cpucity, and i read a post on overclockers, by there owner, or whatever saying they were the only place in the UK that would have stock the next day, hahah.

Yep, the only one that has a double 12v rail is the 600.
