Well... I have stuck 2 different Winnies unders my Mach 1, and both worked perfectly. One was a week 34 3200+ and the other is a week 37 3000+. In the bios, the temp goes down to 0, then goes straight to 40c, and stays there....

youpy tried a beta bios yesterday wich helped him a lot, hope he will post details soon :)

Didi you used a nsi neo2 mobo? Did you use beta-bios?
I'm really interested becouse I've to devide if buy a winnie or a 0,13 for my new vapochill

The bios helps indeed for subzero temps on the asus a8v. Finally I got like 2900 prime stable with 1.7V, with very poor memory settings (near DDR400). I tested every mem I have here (tccd, eb, bh5) but none of them could produce any decent speeds.Quote:

There is nothing more to it then just flash the bios and don't use tccd's or high memory frequenties, however that is just what we wanna do...
I noticed I could get these mems way faster on the v0.6 Newcastle I also have here. TCCD was at DDR500 during my last pifast score (see signature).
My best guess is that on the asus the capacitators are very poor (see : http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...345#post598345 for my "possible" explaination and react please for possible solution :D)
So I had a nc running 3 ghz @ 1.8 (which can do more) and a winnie doing 2.9 ghz @ 1.7. Since the A8V can't get any mem to run with the winnie I returned the winnie today (HCC days in the Netherlands) and brought home the MSI neo2 plat. Now I'm hoping I can sqeeze something nice out of my tccd's, or else I'll use my EB's but my goal is set at 310 x 10 sync.
For now I think we all are better of with newcastle s939 procs with a 0.6 version, untill there has been found a fix for the subzero bug, or a better board comes like the dfi.
Weird though that 3 differend boards all have kind of the same problems with there biosses....
My best guess is some motherboards react differently to the subzero temps....
Mine happens to lock at +40c and stay there...it appears other boards go to some other temp (probably registering a real high temp causing the system to protect itself and shut-down)
I guess I just got lucky....
The board I have used with the mach 1 is the msi neo2 platinum.
I havent tried Jinu's Asus A8v with sub-zero temps, as my guess would be it wouldnt work....
may you explain the difference for the newcastle 939 0.6 revision? How I can be sure to get a 0.6 revision? ( is that the cg core?)

The rumour is that the v0.6 procs (produced after week 33) may use the Strained Silicon technique, which allows them to run faster then the ones before week 33.
Well, seems like 1.4B1 MSI Neo2 bios saved my day!
The system works fine now with my Vapo LS evaporator@-50ºC.
I'm installing drivers and stuff and will do some bench's...
I'm using a neo2. I haven't had time to play with it for the last few days. I wonder if giving it a lot voltage to keep the temps above the mystery cutoff would help.Quote:

For a few hours i had a 3500newk on my Giga K8NS Ultra .
The temperatures were shown allrigt for a Giga :p:
About -25C -30C in xp no problems at all.
In the Bios don't it only says -C.
It was a week 37 newk but it clocked only ~2850Mhz at 1,7v .
The dealer has it back ;)
And now i'm waiting for a Bios whitch will help us with the winnies.

Ratax you were having issues like the rest of us and now your saying the new bios from onepagebook has fixed the cold boot issue? If so i'll use my last bit of sealstring to mount one last time for a go. Let us know if that's the case i just wanna be 100% before i use up the last of my string (yes i'm too lazy to buy more) :DQuote:

This is what I did in SuperPi, with Mushkin PC3500 BH5 @CPU/12 and LDT 2x:

I'm testing with default vcore at boot, and it's OK too. No need to configure higher vcore to boot the system.
Now I still have to test with the Vapo LS at -30ºC to boot the system, instead the 5ºC config I have now...
The evap temps are allways bettween -53ºC and -47ºC.
I'm having some problems in HTT higher than 275Mhz, and Mushkin BH5 higher than 3,5v... let's see what happens!
For now, I'm more happy with this. I thought I needed to buy another CPU when the new boards came out (this board is only to play until new K8T890 NForce4 PCI-E arrive...), but maybe there's no need of that.
Hope you guys have good news when trying this new bios!
Great to hear the new MSI beta bios fixes this too.
Traded my winnie for a msi so I can't try myself, but it's good to know if I'm ever going get a new winnie in the future :D
Well, Vapo LS running at default config (starting system only when evap gets -30ºC) and vcore at default too, the system boot's and stay in windows without crashes an pime95 stable.
No tricks to boot the system.
I think I can consider my system stable with phase-change now!
That's excellent news, Ratax. Can't wait to give this puppy a whirl. I was beginning to think my prometia was going to collect dust for a few months.
