Maybe they're running out of 1.6ns memory, or they're using it for real XT PE cards :D

Yeah, PowerColor one.Quote:

Third time lucky?? NOT!!
Killed first card.
Second card a success.
Third card no luck. Box was mangled up too. Might give me a reason to return the sod.
I'm thinking the reason for this is that the X800XT are finally available in limited numbers here in OZ. Supplier told me that the first batches of X800XT PE & 6800Ultra had landed in OZ & were already sold out.
I'm thinking these sods, (manufacturers) are reading our froums & stopping end0users from flashing their cards by making a bios that if you attempt to flash it, it will change the ASIC number to something unrecognisable by the drivers & if you don't back up you bios, you're stuffed...

That's what I thought, see previous pages. I knew such thing could happen. 3rd gen. un-moddable. That's terribly bad, Because I don't want to buy a 6800/GT/U and the XTPE is too expensive.
maybe is makes it an x800 gt or what ever that new x800 is thats coming out. Supposed to be between the x800 pro and xt. 16 pipelines but lower clocks.
I bet it willl be much expensive than the 6800GT / PRO.
if they bring out a "x800gt" it will prolly be priced slightly higher than the 6800gt but the x800pro will be dropped in price to be a very attractive alternative to the 6800nu.
Shroomalistic,
AtiTool reports 8 pipelines...
When it was first installed, it showed 4 pipelines w/out any drivers.
Not too sure but think that not having drivers plays a big part in AtiTool not reporting the right pipelines.
Once the drivers were installed, it recognised the right pipelines (12).
I'm more inclined to think X800SE than X800 GT because if I'm right, an X800 GT is just an X800XT downclocked so it'd have the same ASIC codes, just lower clocks.
Cheers,
Minnyboy
Yeah Ati tool reported No pipes for me before I installed drivers so that figure may be simply arbritary.Quote:

I preseume you are going to RMA and keep your fingers crossed on the next one?
Fourth time lucky?:)
Gotta find a good enough reason w/out resorting to dastly measures.Quote:

Just curious bout OverDrive support as I was thinking that ALL X800 cards supported OverDrive.
I've noticed that there are some cards w/out OverDrive support but haven't found out if OverDrive support is a "must" for X800 cards.
What's a good reason for RMA w/out having to resort to "the touch of death"??
Any ideas anyone??

BTW, add one more to the total of the "unflashable/moddable VIVO's".
I dunno, 92.5% is pretty convincing ...
I think i'll save for XTPE (if i'll be able to find one).
Sapphire X800 Pro vivo
Gigabyte BIOS
succsess
I'm buying a new graphics card, choosing between these two cards:
MSI RX800 PRO-TD 256MB DDR 8X TV-OUT/VIDEO-IN/DVI
and MSI GeForce 6800 GT
both have about the same price.
So stock, the 6800 GT will be faster, but if modded to X800XT, the X800Pro would be a better choice ?
The card is a ViVo version, but haven't seen anybody here with an MSI, how big are my chances to succesfully mod this card ?
As of right now, the chances are 92.68% in your favor ;)
How much is the MSI btw ?
the X800Pro MSI is €460, the 6800GT €450.
Just ordered a Saphire x800 pro w/VIVO, I'll have some results when it comes in. It looks like the gigabyte bios is the one to go with. Is that correct?
I just bought the Gigabyte X800Pro-VIVO & the funny thing is it already HAD 16pipes enabled+16ns ram. Falshing to xt bios using Paddy's way didnt work.
ANyway i flashed it with the Gigabyte XT bios & its running nicly.
Looks like any bios that enables 16 pipelines is the one.Quote:

Don't matter if it's Gigabyte or ATI X800XT bios...
Only difference is if your card can't handle the extra 6/20 core/mem, then the Gigabyte one is the way to go as it only runs 520/560 & the ATI bios runs 526/573.
BTW, checked the core on my "bad" X800Pro VIVO & here's what it say:
215RADCGA11F
GB8809.1
0422AA
It does NOT have the laser cut either so cannot be hard-mod into X800XT.
Tried numerous times to flash with X800XT bios & it keeps changing ASIC ID of the card so that NO drivers will recognise the card.

Ati X800 GPU is working 1.402v ,If flash XT bois not run 520/560,I just v-mods GPU core voltage R1597(18B) use 2B pencil:

meter survey R1597 0.416k£[,voltage is 1.402v GPU:530Mhz
0.413k£[ is 1.412v ,GPU:535Mhz

johnnyliu3377, Welcome To The SickNess :rocker: :rocker:
My X800Pro (XT) runs 1.41v default.
Runs smooth at 598/596 at default.
When i pumped 1.57v Vgpu & 2.17Vdd, I only got an extra 10mhz core & 5mhz RAM:mad:.
That's with the first revision WaterChill GPU block & nothing else using water.
Quite a bummer if you ask me. What was the point in modding it if jacking up the volts didn't do squat.
Temps are 32c idle & 37c load measured with the CP. My temp sensor shows 2c less.

thanks a lot of!!
V-core
1.4v use aircooling
1.5v use watercooling
1.6/1.7 use phase change
V-mem
from 2.0v tot 2.2v (depends on the cooling what you use)
I'm use aircooling

Two Phase PWM controller IC 5240MTC datasheets:
V-core is max.=2.0v :D

@ Minnyboy: Did you do the over-current mod as well? I didn't, but I still got a little better results then you. Mem sucked, same gains you see, core at 1.55V gained about 15MHz over def, noticed lots of "droop" when loaded. Down to 1.5V briefly during big loads. I'm hoping adding the 500k over-current mod will improve that, but probably won't try that if the benefit isn't there. PITA to get card in/out of system due to condensation-proofing.
I'm getting a gigabyte card soon.. You guys think it'll work?? I sure hope it does using the gigabyte utility.. i hope it works with their own cards ;0)
Didn't do the OverCurrent mod. Yet..Quote:

As I'm "only" using H20, I didn't see the need as of yet.
Gotta get off my lazy ar$e & finish this Vapo Classic/GPU mod someday. Only been saying it since 9800pro days...
Gotta look at my recent results to see what my max were before/after the mods.
I've also gotta measure the mods whilst benching to see if I get the same droop that you're getting.
It's a pain in the a$$ trying to measure temps with my Vapo PE setup. Darn PSU gets in the way. As well as that Zalman bracket...
Starting to get the hang of soldering. Been testing it on my dead IC7-G & my soldering has improved so much it ain't funny...
Cheers,
Minnyboy
